Thanks for doing my pick! Glad you enjoyed it and yes the blues is another side of Zeppelin and a very important one. It was really their starting point when they began in 1968. I was privileged to be at this Madison Square Garden show July 29, 1973. Lots more great Zeppelin to come!

Saw them live in 1975 ,Long Beach Arena ,Calif. with my future wife and Bro all of us from Indiana. The most amazing concert I ever went to and there were several groups. Tickets were only $10.50 and they played a grueling 3 hours and 20 minutes. No pussy breaks, no auto tune, no dancing girls ,no extra members live. .just LED ZEPPELIN. Eat your hearts out Millenials. Proud to have been born in 1949. I saw it all as a teen and young adult, and rock bass player/.singer. Peace.

We did not get to see Zeppelin. We were over an hour out of Chicago and try to get tickets in Hicktown Rockford, IL back then For Zeppelin! And not having MTV or them on TV, ect, we never really even seen the band except on Album pictures.. Our love of Zeppelin was based soley on the music.
I wonderful what the kids today would do without RUclips videos, phones, spotify, ect. And they had to base their liking of a band or singer on just the music alone. The music with auto tune, computerized instruments, some hack churning our the same sounding song for a dozen acts, fake music. Would they put up with it?
go to a concert without cellphones and having to sit there and watch the band in full. Would they, he or she be as exciting?

Zeppelin does blues but they always put their own twist on the form. In this case, they use a twist on the usual chord progression and it’s also a very unique and emotional turnaround. This was all played in a take in a studio on Zep III.

I would suggest watching this concert start to finish, it's incredible!

Eddie Van Halen said that Page plays live like a 2 year old with a broken hand. He also said that Randy Rhodes stole from him. I'd say that while Eddie was a world class guitarist, his fragile ego could not realize that there was better guitar players out there. He had to compensate with his mouth. Page is brilliant here. Every single Zeppelin song was different. With AC/DC hear one song and you have heard them all. With Led Zeppelin hear them all to hear them all.

Thanks for reacting to this. I saw The Mighty Zeppelin at the Oakland Coliseum July 1977. Day On The Green. Incredible concert. It was their last North American concert. They flew to New Orleans after the show and Robert Plant got the dreaded phone call from the UK that his beloved 5 year old son Karac had passed away suddenly of an infection. This band no doubt is the greatest rock band of all time in the world. No one before, during or after has or ever will surpass this band and their music and prowess and studio and live work. The four band members were synced so well during their time together. Master musicians each and every one of them. Plant was an incredible vocalist and Page undoubtedly one of the greatest guitarist of all time. John Paul Jones was a master at Piano/Organ/Synthesizer and Mandolin among other instruments. John Bonham was the greatest drummer of all time.

That was improvised from start to finish, and in my opinion the best live version by far of Since I've Been Loving You. If your considering listening to it again, I would recommend the recorded version where it's more bluesy, and there's a better build up. Led Zeppelin is blues, jazz, and folk influenced, and there are elements of these genres in their songs. Most of their early songs are blues rock, which are my favorite from them. I saw Led Zeppelin 3 times in concert, and I too was conflicted over watching Robert Plant or Jimmy Page. Both are great performers, great at what they do, and the other two are some of the best musicians in rock. If you react to more Led Zeppelin, I would suggest reacting to Kashmir Live at Knebworth 1979 official video. A shout out and hats off to the person who recommended this version of Since I've Been Loving You. Lastly both of you did a fabulous job reacting to this song.

ugh. I was so excited when I seen you guys were doing "Since I've Been Loving You", then super down when I seen you were doing the live version. You guys are always really good about listening to the original studio recordings first before checking out live videos. It's what makes you guys my favorites. You missed on this one. The studio recording of this song is one of the greatest achievements in audio recording history (alongside Stairway to Heaven). I didn't watch this one because I know what you've missed out on by not listening to the original studio recording first, but I may come back and revisit it later after you've checked it out. You really should make that one a priority now.
    Peace

While I agree the studio version is fire as well. To me, it is NOT a miss doing either version. But you have to remember, it was a paid request. The dude paid for this version. If you or I don't pay for a request we shouldn't be complaining. We can point out stuff about the other version but unless we open our wallets, we get what we get.
I prefer live over studio almost every time and with Zeppelin and a few other bands, I want to see them perform and do all the extra stuff they do that usually isn't in the studio version. However, this is one of the few Zeppelin songs that if they had done the studio version, music wise, I would be almost as happy. Not because I think the studio version is better. But because I think it's different. Of course the studio version is cleaner. But it dosn't have the raw energy and personal charm the live version has either. And if the two versions are neck and neck like this. Let me watch them perform over staring at nothing as they play.
      Just my opinion.

@@boki1693 You are obviously not as familiar with these 2 particular reactors as I am. but I have seen them listen to studio recordings of songs first even though they had a pending paid live version request to be done at a later time. This isn't about what you or I want. That's the problem with these random voices in the comments section wanting live zeppelin versions. It's about the reactors. I want them to experience the perfection of one of the greatest audio recordings ever produced, the same way you and I first heard it and fell in love with it. That's how Zeppelin fans are created, not the opposite way. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Peter Grant many years ago, and he had a lot of great stories about Led Zeppelin (as well as Bad Company, Chuck Berry, and many other artists he had worked with in the past). Some nights Led Zeppelin were on, and some nights, not so much. The studio version of "Since I've Been Loving You" has the perfect guitar solo, and I mean, (next to the guitar solo in the studio recording of Stairway to heaven), the best that has ever been recorded by anybody, not just some live improvisation in front of 25000 intoxicated fans. The studio version has Robert Plants amazing pre-surgery jazz style vocals. The studio version has the amazing Hammond B3 organ fills by John Paul Jones that are just not as evident (or tasty) in the live version. The live version has two good looking sex symbol dudes who looked cooler on stage than anybody else ever has. If its all about the visuals, you def want the live version. But if its about the song, its the studio version all the way. Especially for 2 people who have never heard the song before.
      Peace

@@thewizard6077 But that's your opinion. Just as many people if not more enjoy the live version of this song more than the studio version. Your falling into the trap of believing your opinion is the correct or only opinion. Some people just like the live version better. And this particular concert was one of their on nights. My issue with your comments is not that you prefer the studio version. But how you are almost dismissive of the live version. To the point of refusing to even watch it. Page himself has always said that music to him was not about being technically perfect. It was about the feel of the music you got from them improvising on the spot. I prefer the later. You prefer the former. Sometimes I get what I want. Sometimes you get it. Just think of it as being my turn this time.

@@boki1693 This has nothing to do with turns or opinions or what I like or what you like. It has everything to do with listeners hearing songs for the 1st time, and when it comes to any artist (particularly Led Zeppelin, who were so very improvisational), it is always best to let them hear the unadulterated song the way you and I first heard the material, through their studio recordings. This isn't rocket science. They should have the same opportunity to fall in love with the music by the same method that you and I did. That is all I am saying. It is a tried and true method for creating Led Zeppelin fans. That method has never failed for decades, and has propelled Led Zeppelin into being the 5th biggest selling musical artists of all time, behind only Michael Jackson at #4, Garth Brooks at #3, Elvis Presley at #2, and of course, The Beatles at #1. I've seen the opposite way fail many times here on RUclips amongst other reactors who aren't as into the never ending jam of live improvisation, and they quickly lose interest in Zeppelin. But those who start with the studio recordings always, and I mean always become life long Zeppelin fans, and isn't that the goal of all of this? Again, and I mean no offense to you or anyone else, but I can care less what you prefer as much as you could care less what I prefer. This has everything, and I mean everything to do with the reactors. I know you can't accept what I'm saying, so we'll leave it at that and agree to disagree. But I really do appreciate your intelligence, kindness and rationality in your argument. I truly enjoyed our little debate.
      Peace

@@thewizard6077 Dude, that's your OPINION that you need to watch the studio version first. It's not that big a deal which they watch/listen to first. Your just trying to RAM your opinion down everyone's throat as if they had no choice but to do as you say. Come on now, if someone actually likes the song, they will listen to the other version on their own. All that other stuff your saying is illervant because your whole issue is you wanted them to react to the studio version first. And because they didnt do it the way you wanted, your coming up with reasons your OPINION is right. And further more, you either don't like the live version, which is fine if you don't. I can tell your not a fan of the improvising. I am. That's just our opinions. Or you are refusing to watch this reaction because they didnt react to the song in what you think is the proper way.
If these reactors go on and react to the studio version, I will watch it. If they don't, then either no one donated for them to do it, and or they didn't like the song enough in the first place. But I just don't get why your making such a big deal about it? Let it go already. If they had done the studio version instead, the most I would have said was, I prefer the live version. If I said anything at all. Not all this. It just not that big a deal.

Firstly, as a long-term Zeppelin fan (45+ years), thank you for your minimal interruptions to this masterpiece - imho The GOAT by The GOAT. You might well want to go back and listen to the studio version from Led Zeppelin III (from the first few notes, you will be hooked), then come back and listen to this masterpiece again and realise why so many life long Zeppelin fans rate this above and beyond Stairway To Heaven. God Bless you and keep exploring. Have you listened yet, to the live version of Untitled #8 (Official Live Video), by Sigur Ros?...Try it Fullscreen, in the dark with headphones

Most of especially guitarists, in this genre, Page, Clapton, Richards, we’re heavily inflicted by American blues artists such as Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, Leadbelly.

70’s baby here, started getting into music about ‘78 , today’s artists are not required to have the same level of talent as musicians from this era. It’s almost two different genres even though it may be considered the same type of music from then to now

Always listen to the studio version first. It's the bands musical vision for the song. Then you can appreciate the live version in a different light. The studio version of this song, as good as this live version is, is so much more phenomenal, IMHO.

This is how they started. Their first album was almost all rock blues. By the second album they had moved into a little more heavy Rock, but still kept the blues influence.
