My sister-in-law lives in Rockridge. I spent many days at her place, and for sure, on of the best places to live in Oakland. I still put Lake Merritt on the list.
I lived on Hanover ave near Brooklyn st two blocks from the lake for 50 years, starting in 1961, I'm still in Oakland out near the San Leandro border....
Like most cities, it's got it's good areas and challenging ones. But, if you only listen to the news, you'd think all of Oakland is a war zone. The news focuses on the bad, because the good is boring and doesn't attract viewers. Thanks for watching!
Born and raised and live on 64th below Avenal, and it is really bad here with crime. Our house was broken into twice and got our motorhome in the driveway stolen and found in Richmond all gutted out. My family ran the Fairfax Theater who closed it back in the late 60's because of crime, and became a church. Oakland is a beautiful city, but it sure has problems. The house next door just sold for $525,000 and had bullet holes in the front window. Maybe one of these decades it will turn around.
I like Millsmont! Kind of a tucked away area with some cute homes. It's really picking up in popularity like Maxwell Park did around 5 years ago. I have a potential client selling a home in Millsmont in the next couple of months. Let me know if you have any questions or need assistance. reach me at 925.386.2999.
Felton’s Ice Cream is not in the Rockridge area. It is located on Piedmont Avenue in Oakland. Also, Grand Lake Kitchen is not in the Dimond District. It is on Grand Lake Boulevard intersected by MacArthur Boulevard, which is the Grand Lake District.
Amazing video. My wife and I are moving to Cleveland and looking to rent. Leaning towards either Temescal or Uptown. Disappointed that Rockridge has minimal renting options.
Thanks for watching! Rockridge does have some renting options ... it's just a tough neighborhood to get rentals in. Probably the most popular neighborhood to rent in, and really only mom and pop rentals available. Add in rent control and you just don't have a lot of availability in Rockridge. Let me know if you have questions.
Thanks for watching! People's experiences with Oakland schools can vary dramatically depending on the school and your child's needs. I always encourage people to do research on the specific school and special programs offered by the district. I probably won't be able to do video specifically on school for a couple of reasons: 1) I'm not an expert on education and don't want to steer people wrong on this service; 2) Because I'm a licensed real estate agent, I have to be wary of giving information that may steer people. Saying "these are the good schools and these are the bad ones" isn't something I can do. If you have any questions, drop me a text at 925.386.2999.
