Waarom bly soveel entrepreneurs en jongmense in Orania? Uit onderhoude wat met sakelui en entrepreneurs gevoer is, is dit duidelik dat Orania ’n spesifieke aantrekkingskrag het. Dit is beslis nie net ’n aftreedorp nie, hoewel dit ook die voorkeurkeuse van baie afgetredenes is. Dit is ’n dorp waar inwoners vir hulself ’n blink toekoms sien. Mense bou hul sukses op die ononderhandelbare beginsels van selfwerksaamheid en eie arbeid. Oraniërs is roepingsgedrewe en mense sien nie op mekaar se werk neer nie. Inteendeel, dit is ’n nou verweefde samebindende kultuurgemeenskap wat hul vryheidsideale uitleef. Al hoe meer nuwe ondernemings open hul deure en Orania spog met talle besienswaardighede soos Orania se Monumentkoppie.

@@leonardsaffrinnowitz2684 It's largely derived from German/Nederlands. It also has many words from African languages (Abba, gogga etc.), french, gaelic (kerk, ken) and many more.Originally only a kitchen language.

@@bernedettevanzyl3191 While there was a "kitchen language" version of Dutch spoken in the Cape Colony, I would like to point out to those interested in the subject that Afrikaans has at its foundation the dialects of the central and northern rural communities of the Netherlands, which is also where most of the Dutch settlers originated from. Its simplifications relative to Modern Dutch already existed in these dialects and have therefore very little to do with kitchens or Africa. Some of these deviations can still be found today in rural Dutch dialects. The speakers of Afrikaans did indeed borrow some nouns from other languages, but contact with other cultures had no influence on the grammatical structure of the language except for the double negative which may have something to do with the French Huguenot influence.
