    6:11 Indeed, no need to be afraid as long as the throttle body is entirely unplugged electrically, and you make sure to open the plate gently and slowly so as to not damage the delicate gear train inside the inner workings. :) This is an often overlooked maintenance job that can make a big idle quality improvement!

      Agreed. 15 minutes and a vastly improved idle

    If you're going to clean the throttle body, I would also recommend a couple of other things to do at the same time.
    1. Replace Air Filter
    2. Clean the MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensors) with nothing but a MAF Spray cleaner, and do not wipe or touch the sensitive wire, just spray and let air dry.

    • @javierornelas4271
      @javierornelas4271 Год назад +3

      I was told the same thing, they said to have someone inside the truck, turn the key to the on position, but not actually start it, and very slowly press the gas pedal so the butterfly opens up while someone else cleans it.

    PCV is positive crankcase ventilation & it’s not attached to your throttle body. It’s mounted toward the back of the engine ( up top ) on the driver’s side.

    I have a 07 Tacoma 2wd auto and out of no where a few months ago I would start to slow down while on the highway. When this happens and I try to accelerate the rpms will go up but the speed will barley increase. This usually lasts for 10-20 seconds then it instantly frees up and feels like you hit the nitrous button cause it's such a noticeable change in speed. Ive checked over my brakes assuming they were somehow applying by themselves slightly and also checked my air filter. Not sure if might be a dirty MAF or TB possibly bad coil but it only does it while I'm on the highway never on backroads. No check engine lights either I'm stumped.

    • @fupabox
      @fupabox  2 года назад +2

      Revs increasing with no increase in speed is usually transmission related . Check your fluid levels with the engine warm and running . Too high is just as bad as too low.

    • @Scrapla1
      @Scrapla1 2 месяца назад

      @@RevBCSTi It actually just went away one day. Then I had a shaking in my steering wheel which only happens on the highway around 60mph. I also my brakes applying themselves which sucked. I replaced my master cylinder, booster, calipers and rotors. It's been very frustrating. The truck driver great on city streets and doesn't have any shifting issues or shaking issues but on the highway it's hit or miss.

    Honda CRV (2004-2006) re-learn idle by starting the car, keep it 3000 rpm until engine up to temp , then release throttle pedal.

  • @williamhoward9493
    @williamhoward9493 Год назад

    Clean the mass air sensor & throttle body because my, 2011 4WD Tacoma automatic, idles at 1000 RPM. After cleaning these two items it still idles around 1000 or 11000 RPM. I think this is a little high

  • @anthonymitchell8000
    @anthonymitchell8000 3 года назад +1

    I think if I can avoid not taking off throttle body butterfly just spray some intake cleaner and get the brushes to clean out my rifle move it a around a bit, a play some kind of rag to clean out carbonite and then wrap some kind of rag around brush that is long- to clean the barrel of a airflow just put back air filter back on???, that might not be the best way but we avoid any trouble with technical issues for breaking sensors and computer mapping, but doing that holding the butterfly open properly with that cause any damage brush cleaner for a rifle for example

    • @fupabox
      @fupabox  3 года назад

      If you do it that way , be sure to have the key out of the ignition or the idle control control could grab a finger real hard. you can gently open the butterfly valve without damage . A rifle cleaning brush would be ok

    What happens if you leave the key in when you unhook battery

    • @fupabox
      @fupabox  2 года назад +1

      with modern cars the key in the ignition can "wake up certain computer or body modules " They should have the power removed from them when they are "asleep " or key out of the ignition to prevent sudden power being pushed into the circuit . If the battery sparks or the terminals get crossed while installing the battery ,then the modules that are awake with the key in the ignition could be damaged .
