  • What’s worse than feeling nauseous all day long, especially when you’re pregnant? Try these 6 tips to avoid morning sickness:
    1. Avoid foods that cause nausea - caffeine, foods with a strong scent like cruciferous vegetables, and seafood
    2. Replace those foods with foods that are more mild in flavor - rice, fruit, cooked vegetables, organic chicken, bone broth
    3. Do not skip meals
    4. Try acupuncture
    5. Use essential oils - chamomile, lavender, ginger, peppermint
    6. Light exercise

Thank you for this video! I'm 7 weeks pregnant, and I've been so sick! I can't get out of bed because when I start to move around I get very lightheaded and nauseous. It's terrible! This is my second pregnancy, and my symptoms are so different! The only thing I can really eat is popsicles or hot tea. Weird, I know. Thanks again for posting this video! It's also relieving to read the comments and see that I'm not alone. I had to take an extended leave of absence from work because of how I feel, and some coworkers have been quite rude to me. The last shift I worked, a girl I work with asked why I'm being so dramatic-that you only feel bad in pregnancy in your third trimester. Needless to say she's never been pregnant! It doesn't help that another girl I work with is pregnant there with her first child and she feels "great". So frustrating! I wish I could just find work to do from home. :(

I had severe morning sickness with both my kids until 17-20 weeks. Nothing really helped but I did allow myself to eat whatever I craved and I also set an alarm to eat food. I didn't want to eat at 4am but if I didn't force myself to eat I would be so sick. I also relied on Ensure meal replacement drinks because I couldn't physically eat anything. I ate a lot of cantaloupe, pepperoni and tuna when I could. I couldn't even smell garlic or walk down the bean aisle of the grocery store! Ladies do what feels right to you :)

fantastic video! I have had hyperemesis with 7 out of my 8 pregnancies. With #8 I happened to be juicing every morning for a few months prior to getting pregnant and it included fresh ginger and beets. I was hardly sick! I had tried every ginger remedy but none worked other than this. I still am juicing every morning to maintain my health after having so many babies.

Thanks for the tips. Nothing helped me. Surprisingly people will judge a woman with morning sickness when they have not experienced it. Morning sickness is actually a great sign that she is producing enough progesterone to hold onto the pregnancy. Those that don't have morning sickness are at an increased risk of miscarriage and preterm birth. I wouldn't worry about it. Just be thankful either way, and we all ought to be compassionate toward those that have "all day sickness."

It depends on your body actly. I am not in my best shape for this 2nd pregnancy it may have a connection to nausea and other problems. peppermint do help tho

learn more - I think what she's trying to point out is the numerous studies that point towards morning sickness being a predictor for healthy baby outcomes. Multiple clinical studies that provide this info. This research does NOT mean everyone that didn't have morning sickness has an unhealthy baby. Give her a break , she is just trying to provide support for women for felt like shit for 9 months.

I'm only a few weeks pregnant and I am only getting nausea. Kinda hoping I don't get the vomiting portion of the pregnancy. What helps me is keeping something in my stomach (e.g. cereal, tost, etc) a distraction (video games, conversations) and sometimes a hot bath/shower. I've been feeling pretty good the past few days. I've been able to get out of the house and such for the past few days and keeping myself in check. I had an empty stomach for the first week of my pregnancy and I felt horrible. After I ate pizza I was relieved. After I ate I did take a shower to let my stomach and body relax so that way I can hold it all down. I always try to find a distraction to keep myself from getting nauseated. Believe it or not the more I thought about my nausea, the worse it got. Now that I'm distracting myself I don't get nausea and when I do it's super mild. Certain smells are mainly what trigger the harsher portion of my nausea though. (E.g. hot food, cigarettes, certain vape oils, certain foods, etc) my boyfriend vapes a lot and he's learned to keep the smoke away from me to keep me from feeling like crap. My worst problem currently are cramps. They're so painful 30 minutes after I wake up.

Love this video!!! Especially the oil recommendations. I'm going to try these because I'm MISERABLE RIGHT NOW.
I would also add to prep some of those foods he mentioned ahead of time when youre feeling ok. That way you're not trying to cook while sick. That for me is what is causing the gaps in eating. So I'm going to take his advice and have little bowls of oatmeal and cream of wheat, pasta etc. Already ready to go.

Don't get empty stomach, skip coffee and sulfur rich veggies
    Try accupuncture
Essential oils : camomile, lavender, ginger, peppermint (last 2 could be rubbed topically, 2 drops diluted in coconut oil)

Not sure if it will work for others, but it worked for me. Eat slowly, eat what the pallet/baby likes, eat small, sometimes large meals OFTEN (every two hours if need be) wake yourself up in the middle of the night if necessary. Have a glass of milk, anything to keep your belly from emptying.
What I noticed that caused my sickness (only twice throughout beginning of pregnancy) was a hunger that never seemed to cease, and by the time the hunger worsened the nausea worsened, and trying to take a sip of water or bite of food caused me to up chuck in minutes.
Also, once, I noticed my cousin running around preparing to move as she completely skipped breakfast while three months pregnant only to order two meals at Wendy's during lunch that she promptly took a bite of and threw up.
I'm not sure, but I can see how nausea could directly be connected to hunger.
Stay fed my friends. Dos Bebe

Now I am about 6 weeks pregnant and struggling with all day sickness. I grew up using essential oils to cure everything from a tummy ache to an open wound. I so badly want to utilize essential oils in my pregnancy but there are so many conflicting opinions on what is safe for baby in the first trimester. Do you have a dilution ratio that is safe for pregnancy specifically or are the oils you mentioned safe for pregnancy in general?

I am 7 weeks and I can only eat from 5pm to 12am everyday. Anytime in between that I feel so disgusted by food, nauseous and uncomfortable that I can barely get out of bed. Even seeing a picture of a certain type of food I have to talk myself down from the nausea. Whenever I can eat its something I have to really want I can't just eat anything. It feels like every single day I wake up with a hangover. I was very healthy before my pregnancy and before the nausea but at this point Ill just eat anything to fill my stomach that I can handle. Being starving while also feeling repulsed and nauseated by almost all food is a real struggle.

I was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum the other day when I had to go to the hospital. Up until two days ago, I couldn't hold down water, food or meds for around 48 hours. Tje last thing I had eaten was an egg and then I started throwing up more up to 7 times the next day. I didn't have an appetite and I couldn't take my medicine that keeps me being able to walk. The hospital helped me so much now though, but I only crave fruit. I have an appetite again and am doing everything I can to keep it up. However, the doxylamine 25 mg they gave me kept me awake all night with .y stomach hurting...so I'm really hoping that ginger tea helps. Wish me luck y'all! I'm further along then I thought so either I was pregnant and had my "period" or its twins? 😰 could explain the stronger symptoms than my last pregnancy.

Vitamin b and folic acid are really helpful for tiredness and weakness and boosting your mood during pregnancy but “no to morning sickness tea” is really effective to soothe nausea! Tastes great and works awesome.

My morning sickness was average during my first three pregnancies. This fourth pregnancy has been torture. I’m about six weeks and for almost three weeks now I have been very very very sick. My ginger root isn’t even solving all of it like it used to. Starting to think it may be twins like my dr thinks because this is just torture, it came on very early and very severe.

Ironically enough, broccoli, cabbage, and brussel spouts are some of the few things I can manage to eat. Most foods sound repulsive, but I can eat fruits and veggies, no problem. Meat and dairy seems to be my issue. But it's so bad that I lost 28lbs in 3 weeks. Ugh.

Ginger made me feel worse, too! i have no idea what to eat am tending to go for unhealthy options (such as pancakes with honey) as they dont make me feel sick. Oats were terrible as well :( no ideas for lunch, i tend to skip it as i cant eat anything at all

    1. I think I'm pregnant..which isnt good cuz I have an ED. I really would rather die than gain weight or have food in me.
    2. I have snacks with me all over my desk right now cuz I feel sick if I dont eat food.
    3. I actually was carrying some lavender and Peppermint oil with me when it hit me yesterday. As well as lavender flowers for tea.

Is anyone feeling this and they aren't pregnant? A lot of the time I have no desire to eat anything, everything is unappealing to me but the feeling of being hungry, nauseous, empty, still lingers. It's so annoying. Then I find myself eating snack foods when I finally get the strength to force myself to eat and most of them are unhealthy to eat. The severity changes through the week but yeah. My body has to be telling me something I just don't know what yet.

What if I cannot eat any rice, beans, potatoes, bread or any kind of meat because it instantly makes me gag, all I’ve been eating are fruits and veggies, all day, every day and it’s not really filling, I’m always hungry. Then I cannot eat for at least the first 3 or 4 hours of waking up and taking lunch or breaks at work, the cafeteria smells too much for me to go in there for me to eat anything during the 8.5 hours I’m at work.

if you look at the foods that make a woman feel better with pregnancy nausea/vomiting they are always relatively high in b vitamins. b vitamin deficiency is at least partly responsible for morning sickness..i have had 7 children currently 14 wks preg with #8 and never had morning sickness other than some slight nausea with #5 for some reason but at that time i was not eating in the morning and working out on an empty stomach. oh and no miscarriages in my history either so i would look at the deficiencies a woman has more than the fact that she has high progesterone to maintain pregnancy..a lot of women with hyperemesis gravidarum lose their babies..
