They’re gorgeous. I just wanted to mention to you that I use white glue instead of the liquid latex. It comes off perfectly and the resin drips stick to it nicely. It’s also cheaper than the latex.
When you lifted the lid off of the curing coasters.....I swear I heard Angels singing!!! Those are super stunning! Thank you for all your teaching, I'm aspiring to learn this beautiful craft. Cheers from Texas!
I really appreciate your instruction. You explain so much more than other artist. I’ve been watching resin videos fir a few months and you are one of a couple that explain the finishing process before adding final clear coat. Thank you
I don't normally comment, but I have to thank you for showing how you do the top coat. Most tutorials do not, and I have a pile of coasters that need fixing because I didn't know the best way to do this. Thank you.
Turned out beautiful! I have started using elmers glue instead of liquid latex. I find that it works much better! You just have to make sure your resin is completely dry.
You can do it! Don't forget to check out the Black Diamond Pigments. Much of my success with making these coasters is from using their mica powders 💎 www.blackdiamondpigments.com/?sca_ref=90357.m4nhnEVQ9a
You can also use a silicone makeup brush to spread the silicone as it is silicone the latex rubs right off after it dries! Beautiful coasters and love the color!
Stunning.. I think putting the alcohol in pigment powder makes them blend together better. I get great striations. Now even with pigment pastes or liquid color I add a little alcohol. I took your tip about alcohol even further and love how colors marry together. Thanks for sharing
These are pretty and a beautiful colour I love liquid latex I dry mine sometimes with an heat gun and I use a silicone brush I cover mine all over but I have seen people just use the latex on the edges enjoyed your tutorial thank you for sharing xx
Wow. Thank you for this video. I have been struggling trying to figure this out and have done A Lot of trial and errors. More errors lol but trying. Your tips are sooo appreciated. Just followed you on IG and, you are an amazing artist. Again thank you.
This tutorial is so informative!! Thank you for showing your work from beginning to end. 1. Regarding the resin flood coat, do you wait for it to thicken or pour immediately? 2. My resin on the sides kinda pooled at the bottom edge and dried. Possibly because I waited 10 minutes after pouring. Thank you so much for your time. These are beautiful!
Thank you Robbie. 1. The Counter Culture DIY Artist Resin is very thick. I begin right away once resin is mixed. By the time I am done applying the resin to the sides it has been 5 to 10 minutes. 2. I get the same at my bottom edge that you describe but it is usually minimal. I do examine for large drips and use my popstick to remove. You can use your popstick to sort of coax that to be thinner if you want. Appreciate your support on my artistic journey! 😊
Hi, what you do is great ! If I make/create a plate that I don't like, can I modify it ?How can I modify a resin plate ? = put it in the microwave to melt it? In hot water? Or with a paint stripper? Thank you so much.
I have a 13 1/2” plate that I need to repair and without thinking I put it in a dish of rather hot tap water with some other pieces that I was going to wash... I took the plate out last and to my surprise it was very pliable… I could have reshaped it into a bowl, but since that was not my intent, I chose not too. When I took it out of the water, I placed on a towel to dry, then placed it on a flat cutting board to shape in back into the plate. It took a little while to cool off... once it had it was good as new. Blessings
Hello my Dear, thank you for your lovely videos and helpful explanation. ❤️ When I pour my Resin (ultracast xt medium viscosity with pigment powder) it does not really flow to the middle of the mold and I do not get the effect I want. Do you recommend to add some drops of 99% alcohol? And is it not dangerous especially when I use the torch? Thanks in advance 🙏
Hi Saida. I think your resin is fine. Definitely try adding several drops of 99% alcohol. I put the drops in when mixing mica into the resin and will even add a couple more right before I pour it into the mold. I my opinion (and from my results), it does assist in getting the effect. Thank you for your kind words. 😊
I used Counter Culture DIY Artist Resin (original) and it has a heat resistance for up to 500ºF and it has proven to me to be the best. You must give the resin 30 days for it to fully cure to get to that rating.
Hello lovely, I’m extremely new to all of this. But your work is absolutely beautiful 🥰 sorry if this is a stupid question, do you use alcohol when doing canvas pieces or just in coasters?
Beginners can ask no stupid questions first of all. You should ask! 😁 I do use alcohol on canvas pieces for effects as well. I did on this video (it's not canvas but it is done the same) - ruclips.net/video/OFk1A36yO50/видео.html It is important to remember to not use the torch after using alcohol because of it being highly flammable! Be careful.
Hi, Can you clarify which resin you use? The bottle in the video is the Artist Resin, but you mentioned medium viscosity which is a lime green/yellow design on the container.
Sure, I used the Original Artist Resin - counterculturediy.com/product/acrylic-pouring-resin-artist-resin-1-gallon/ Counter Culture recently added more types to their resin line.
True artist! Beautiful colors and awesome coasters! They turned out so beautiful! Where did you get those moulds? Would you please share a link if you don’t mind? Thank you!
Thank you Adriana 😊. The molds are from Let's Resin letsresin.com/collections/coaster-molds I had one set of the druzy geode molds and like them so much I bought another! 😁
Moonkusser Art: Thank you Much Mrs > MoonKusser Art am looking to make exact same coasters for a Att&t Tech person when came over to Fix my Internet and saw my other Reason pieces i previously had made and had on display and that was just some tester pieces i have made but this is exactly what the customer wants Elegant Green with hit of Gold or like on ur video Whint diamond pearl so Thanks i appreciate Ur Video for sharing with us All, very Beautiful pieces made here. Oh also thank you for the Pearl Wisdom LoL 🙂 i take all good Advice I'm not going to consider that ti but utilize it.
They turned out beautiful hun and a must try so I have a few questions. Does the little bit of alcohol add to the great effects you got or it makes no difference? Do you find it easy to use the liquid latex and would you use it on larger pieces? I love the tip on brush stroking into the paint and not away, thats makes so much more scene when you see it done. Thank you so much for the shout out hun , trust me you inspire me with all you wonderful tutorials and amazing creations. 💕
Thank you Deborah. I believe adding the alcohol does help with the effects. The liquid latex is easy to apply. I don't know that using it on large pieces is worth it unless you would only apply at edges. Glad you liked my pearl of wisdom. And as always, thank you for being such a great friend 💕
Love them much better to do the edge that way always throught it was not finished of right, now dumb idea can you put the edge of the coaster when making them .say start this the edge then work in the normal way ?????????
Why do u put a spray of alcohol in to make a paste. Watched thousands of videos an your the only 1 I’ve came across that does this ? Please explain why ?
The alcohol will dissolve the mica powder uniformly to make a paste or liquid state depending on how much alcohol you use. This helps to avoid clumps of powder and makes it easier to stir into the resin. It also changes the chemistry slightly providing some different effects.
The resin with the color is a low viscosity. The clear coat layer has high viscosity. The low viscosity resin allows for the movement of the pigments & mica powders during the cure process.
Hi there, these are stunning! I'm looking to make some myself, and I'm wondering - when you're using the mica powders, are you adding some type of alcohol to each of them before adding the resin? Is there a reason to add the alcohol, and if so, what type would I need to use? Thank you :)
Thank you very much Ashley 🤗 In this video I added several drops of 99% Isopropyl Alcohol to the Black Diamond mica powders in the cups to just moisten it and then added the resin. The alcohol will assist in the micas mixing well into the resin because the Counter Culture DIY Artist Resin is very thick right from the start. You can use 91% also, the 99% is difficult to get right now because of the Covid-19.
They’re gorgeous. I just wanted to mention to you that I use white glue instead of the liquid latex. It comes off perfectly and the resin drips stick to it nicely. It’s also cheaper than the latex.
Ohh good to know - do you just use regular white school glue? Thank you
Yes, just any old white glue. I put it on generously, so it takes quite a while to dry.
👍🏻
When you lifted the lid off of the curing coasters.....I swear I heard Angels singing!!! Those are super stunning! Thank you for all your teaching, I'm aspiring to learn this beautiful craft. Cheers from Texas!

I’m glad you like it Karen. 💚
You amongst the other great youtubers you mentioned are sooo good at creating these gorgeous coasters
Wow, thanks! Nice to hear we are doing good work 😁
Black Diamond are my favorite pigments! Those and Paddy’s!
They are fun 👍🏻
I like the effects on the back of the coasters too. Some people use white glue instead of latex.

Why do you have some drops of alcohol? does it make any changes to the colors?
Helps pop bubbles and I think it changes the way it interacts in the mold.

Great video!! I just bought the same moulds as you are using here. I am wondering how many ounces of resin you used for each one?

Thank you Saida. I have done top coat up to 48 hours later. Longer than 48 I would do a light sanding to the surface for adhesion and best results.
Hello, please, what do you use with the cotton swab to remove the fingerprints?, I do not understand the name well, thank you very much
I was not removing fingerprints. I had a tiny drop of paint and I removed the paint with artist's turpentine on the cotton swab.

I am able to remove them from molds after 14 hours. Once they are completed with clear top coat of resin I allow for 30 days for complete hard cure.

Can I use low viscosity resin instead?
The resin with the color is a low viscosity. The clear coat layer has high viscosity. The low viscosity resin allows for the movement of the pigments & mica powders during the cure process.
Pretty
Thanks Lynda 😊
Use Elmer's glue instead of liquid latex. A lot of people , like myself, are allergic to even a touch of latex residue.
Always a good option as well
Some of the items are cheaper on Amazon..like $10 cheaper. Im poor so every dime counts 🤣 but I LOVE your work, you are so talented
