      That's unfortunate, maybe you didn't know what synesthesia is but the point is you normally wouldn't hear anything unless you have a certain kind of synesthesia, so it doesn't matter how loud you turn it up.

    My brother and I "see" music, and we thought it was normal when we were kids. We used to ask, "What did you see?" We thought everyone else had it, but that maybe it was just too personal for them to talk about. It wasn't until I was 25 yrs. old that I found out it wasn't the norm.

  • @vlakieste

    My synesthesia is mostly sound-image and texture oriented, and a little bit of number/letter-color oriented (but decidedly less intense than sound-image and texture). I
    t's difficult to describe what I hear. It sounds like a mix of a crackle and a sizzling sparkler, as the light fountain goes out, and when the image reverses, it sounds like the crackling, sizzling sparkler is inhaling. It doesn't exactly "play in reverse", it "inhales."

  • @HelterMcSkelter

      wow butthurt

    • @VyvienneEaux
      @VyvienneEaux 6 лет назад +4

      Ha! Well maybe that's true of some people, but it's actually more common than you might think. I have synaesthesia and I have met several other people with synaesthesia over the course of my life. It's actually not very interesting at all. And honestly, it can be super annoying. Every time I see someone gesticulation while talking, I get distracted and stop hearing them talk and mostly just hear this phantom "slide whistle-"like sound. And when I'm driving, I can't listen to music without seeing little phantom images fluttering across my field of view, making me think I'm about to hit someone.
      And grapheme-colour synaesthesia (which I also have) is so common it's a bit of a let-down to even mention. A is red, B is yellow, C is green, D is yellow, E is yellow, et cetera? Big deal! It can spark a brief moment of conversation with someone else with grapheme-colour synaesthesia to compare our colours, but after that it's incredibly uninteresting.

    • @sovietbot6708
      @sovietbot6708 6 лет назад +2

      I actually have synesthesia, as does my mom. I don't know anyone else who has it. I feel what I see while my mom feels what she hears. (Not to be confused with the feeling of vibrations. Certain sounds can make her physically sick.)
      Both of us can prepare, but we can't stop or control it. For example, if I'm watching a movie, and I know there's going to be a fight scene, I can prepare myself so it's not as painful. Fortunately, I don't feel everything exactly as I see it. For example, if I see someone get stabbed in the chest, I will feel a sharp pain in my chest, but I won't feel a knife go into my chest. When I see someone get slapped in the face, I don't feel the initial slap, but I do feel the warm, tingly sensation after the slap. Someone explodes? I feel a lot of pressure in my body for a second, but that's it. Honestly, I watched a lot of movies with violence, torture, etc, but the worst pain my synesthesia has given me was when I watched someone rip someone's entire nail off. I refuse to watch that episode again. (In case you're curious, it's the Christmas episode in Supernatural.)

      Honestly very true. its like one of those fucking "Take this quiz to see how smart you are" Tests. Its funny because they make up some weird ass sound explaination that wouldn't make any sense to relate to the video.

      No however the ppl coming to this video think they have it so they wanna see, so there is more likely to be a lot of synesthetes in the comments of this particular video

  • @Truthiness231
    @Truthiness231 16 лет назад +6

    I heard a little bit of the same thing, but I'm still with inthefade that what we experienced was merely psychosomatic. There are a BUNCH of different types of synesthesia (crossed senses), and this was a test for only one type, like tasting things while reading or seeing numbers/letters always represented as a color. The odds of having synesthesia are 1 in 23 at best over the wide range, so it's not likely what we all heard was synesthesia. It would also be intense, and this sound wasn't.

    like the bubbles in water sound effect thing like breathing out then the same but like reversed and like its breathing in, like wet but smooth and easily popable bubbles falling down a thin pipe which has water in it and then being like sucked back up it but without the sound of the sucking.
    Edit: u know those see-through bubble things which people used to put in water and then they dissappear and u cant see that it's not just water? and they're like squishy and kind of bouncy; i'm talking about them when i mean the bubbles in water sound effect

    Yes, that's called associative synesthesia, and it's just as legitimate as hearing it with your ears, which would be projective synesthesia. (I'm an associator, and I heard the sound like fingers gently tapping on a big empty cardboard box, but only on the way out. On the way in, I heard nothing.)

      Clear! For me the subtle movements are heard as sound too and they are as soft or harsh as the force or lack of behind each individual motion.
      It's like having exceptional peripheral (think subconscious also)vision that notices EVERY thing within it's range. It is our survival instincts in the most primitive aspect. I hope that is somewhat understandable? It's just like hearing music in everything and feeling your body & intrinsic muscles moving almost involuntarily to rhythm & ...
      Memory, Muscle memory, associating at speeds of unawareness, instinct is felt as intuition & all that leaves all kinds of physical sensations and emotions within that are often difficult to articulate.

    I didn't hear anything, but it felt like the sound of a vacuum, if that makes any sense.

    correct me if i'm wrong but isn't synaesthesia having to do with associations?

    thats what I "heard", but I kinda heard it before the screen saver started, so I guess I just made it up.

    Guess you're synaestesic. Unless there's a water cooler behind you.

    @ftwelve12 For people who have it, it isn't really like just hearing motion or seeing sound through association and not being able to tell the difference. I heard nothing when I watched this, but I have alphabet/numeric synesthesia and it isn't that I simply relate certain colors to letters...the letters ARE those colors. Most people w/ synesthesia don't realize it until several years later. I thought it was just something everyone did, and it wasn't unique or special :)

    Its when people associate stuff with all senses. E.G red taste like apples, apples sound like bells for me each weekday looks like a different thing in my head. I can also see timelines with events on them(seem to be in front of me but i see them in my head) but apparently everyone has a form of synaesthesia

    I hear something like a breathing, also, I didn't noticed this before, but I also hear the red thing that tells you the time of the video, and also I hear a little when people talk, even though I am really far away to be able to hear them, has this happened to anyone else?

    I have colour graphemic synaesthesia. Numbers, days of the week, months and many words have associated colours to me. For example, Wednesday is orange. And when I hear the word pencil, I think purple, unless someone mentions the colour of the pencil. My arts teacher experimented with it a bit when I told her. As a chid I thought everybody had it.
