- Synesthesia is a condition where the brain mixes up the senses- and one sensory modality causes a simultaneous stimulation of another. For example, a person with synesthesia may “hear color” or “see sound.”
Synesthesia involves any of the five senses. The most common form is that of colored letters and numbers, in which someone always sees a certain color in response to a letter of the alphabet or a number. For instance, a synesthete might see the number 7 as light blue, 4 as purple, or the word “sky” as dark grey.

Anastasia from Eurasia has synesthesia
When I hear classical music I see the music, either I see the instrument being played or I see a sound. For example, the violin is a thin fast swirling line I see in my head. Has anyone experienced this?
Yes, for me it’s all shapes and visuals. Every sound looks and moves differently
I do it also and most rock music is brown
Yes! Very much so! To me, it’s normal. Like Anastasia, I used to believe everyone was this way. I realized I was “not normal” at age 12 after getting into a fight with a girl in grade 7 civics class over a campaign poster we had to make. She colored in the block letters, N I X O N, red N followed by all blue!
I wish someone can do a video about time and space synesthesia, people like me who can see time.
What do you mean by setting time?
@@threeinone9229 well, I have time-spatial synesthesia, which I believe is what Bella is talking about
Basically months, years, centuries, days of the week, hours, etc. Have their own spatial sequences, like maps
@@threeinone9229does that ever make you nervous about the future?
I seem to always know what time it is, almost to the minute. Can you? How do you see time?
If I think about it too hard i will lose it a moment. Most of mine are mixed
I’m the same way. I realized most people don’t match numbers, letters, shapes, music, to colors. Circle- red, square- blue, rectangle- hot pink, triangle- orange, pentagon- blue, hexagon- brown, octagon- purple. There’s lots more. Same as Anastasia, I thought everyone had this. I came to recognize clearly that other people did not when I was 12. I got into a fight with another girl over a poster we had to make for civics class in the 1968 presidential election. Ours was for Nixon and I was upset she’d colored the N in bright red! No way! N must be what Crayola now calls Spring green!
Wait does noone see the same colors she does cuz i saw all the colors do i have this?!
I didn't know I was different either, I see words as color's and individual letters as color's. I was kind of shocked when I found out it wasn't a normal thing for everyone.
can you hear colors?
@science-channel No I don't have any audio synesthesia, it's only the letters and numbers and words 😒
intresting, thanks for sharing
Green is letter D for me and all D words
