Beach Fossils are a very good band, but the drummer is absolutely brilliant, has the posture almost of a jazz drummer and yet creates so much rhythm using the whole kit with minimal movement.

Beach fossils are lowkey my favorite band I don’t think any other band makes song that you never get tired of and make you feel something you need to feel.
I just discovered this band following a critic I read lately about their last album. The same kind of music as produced by The Drums...And with some touches reminding me Sarah Records bands from the 90's.
Their sound is so beautiful! They have a very similar sound to Craft Spells, Wild Nothing, DIIV, Real Estate etc, yet they all have their own unique sounds and presences. Love this indie, lo-fi sound!
Nicholas Joyner I suppose shoegaze is *generally* more guitar based, focused on pedals, distortion and reverb with big power chords often coming through. Dream pop is a hard define genre but imo is more melodic, often uses keyboards or electronically played drums and can usually involve synths
I saw them live in November, by far the most exciting show I've ever been to. it blew my mind how talented and energetic they were, after seeing them i just couldn't stop listening! I also got to meet lead vocalist Dustin he was a very nice guy!
The drummer is beast. He keeps the songs tight even when Dustin's singing is off. But without Cole and John, Beach Fossils just doesn't have the same vibe they used to have.

Love Beach Fossils. Shame how one of the recent bands KEXP uploaded (Don't Talk To The Cops) got so much hate. There's room for all styles of music in the world, from the serious (this band) to the totally goofy (like DTTTC). Speaking of serious music, it would be wonderful if the Sundays came out with some new music after 16 years, and KEXP's audience was the first to hear it.
Just saw them last night in Miami and they blew Kurt Vile off the stage. Great chemistry between the band. They were super tight and the crowd really loved them.
Golden age of New York Indie-- Captured Tracks was absolutely unstoppable at this point in time.
