If you are a true Predator fan, I just can't see how you can like this garbage...they barely show the predator cloaking, the jokes fell flat, ALL of them, the upgraded Predator wasn't scary or anything, the goon squad was pathetic, no matter how much I liked the main role actor in Narcos Season 1 and 2. Even the whole plot why this predator comes to earth is blown up the moment it wakes up in the lab and decides to destroy everyone he sees...WHAT??? Oh and the ending...oh man the ending...

They all seem like the kind of guys who love The Expendables and transformers films. I'm always shocked at how James seems to know little about filmmaking as an art, or never brings up his supposed knowledge from his film degree like he never brings up cinematography or visual storytelling, and again is like that kinda guy who's all "it had explosions so it's AWESOME!". It's like they're perpetually stuck in the 80s, which is a schitck that works for nerd reviews and their retro film reviews, but not for film reviews obviously. Every point they make seems to be a comparison to an 80s film.

I honestly thought that when they called the shitty remake of The Thing just The Thing (because allegedly no subtitle was deemed interesting enough... yeah, right), that was by far the lowest Hollywood could ever get in terms of trying to trick people into paying to see a shitty cashgrab rather than the original masterpiece but affixing a fucking article in front of the original title probably takes the desperation cake from now on.
Sky Walkies I expected the movie to be shit, but I went to watch it anyways with my friends, and I was entertained. The movie was all over the place, and I kinda liked it. There was a lot of dumb moments but what the hell. Predator was never meant to be clever movies. So it is a fun movie for what it is. No oscar material here.
I like AvP, its a pretty fun movie. I always thought the predator that works with the girl was a pal. AvPr... idk how you enjoyed that abomination. Even if you just wanted some action it was hard to see and poorly directed. But hey to each their own.

Predator had the amount of comedy that was not seen as distracting in this particular time period. The '80s were the time of oneliners but even then, Predator used those sparingly. Sure, they didn't age all that well but that doesn't mean the movie as a whole was a comedy or that it even had lots of comedy to begin with. Different decades tackle humor differently: there is a scene in The Spy Who Loved Me where Moore stumbles across a dead guy next to a broken elevator and he fixes the "Out of order" plate onto his body-a modern viewer would go "WTF dude?" but people genuinely laughed at this kind of things back in the seventies.

Thank you guys for enjoying The Predator as much as I enjoyed it. Was so refreshing to watch a review that didnt attempt to tear it a new asshole just to get a few extra views. It wasn't a perfect movie, but to me it fit into the franchise really well. If this movie came out in 2000, it would have been well received I think.

When I was a teenager I dug Predator 2, but since then I've kinda revisited it and it's kinda dog shit. The 2010 movie is actually pretty decent, though. Maybe when I'm 60 I'll have seconds thoughts about that one, too, but for now It's all right.
Avp 1 had a good plot but that pg 13 shit gotta go avp requiem had the right gore so if they fused the two and took the best parts of them it would have been a better film... Predators was better though the concept was fresh and the 2 different types of predators... i would like a follow up of predators

I could handle the comedy in the older films as it didn't seem out of place but when a comedian is added to the cast, it might be time to jump ship before it gets added to the MCU.

The people behind it acted as if it was a horror thriller, they said the "new and improved predator" was going to be "scary", the franchise itself has been more of a horror thriller then an action comedy, and the comedy part is extremely debatable as if it works. Personally I did not like it at all.
A simple reason that they could have used for why the Predator wants to help humanity with climate change is that, well, if humanity dies off, then the Predator has no humans to hunt. So, like, he's not being nice nor generous here, but just a self-interested "farmer" ensuring that his "livestock" doesn't die off - not for their benefit, but for his own. Humans are good prey. They've defeated predators a few times. A worthy hunting challenge, that really tests a predator's mettle. He figures it'd be a crying shame to lose such good and worthy prey. More fun to hunt than most of the alien species out there. So he's not really helping us, but helping himself that just incidentally also helps us, as it suits him for us to still be around to hunt.
Why would the Predators be "against" Global Warming when they like warm weathe... oh.. wait a minute.. environmentalists keep getting their predictions wrong, so they have to go with the most ambiguous and generic term for their belief so they won't look like idiots when they keep getting their facts and predictions wrong. This was the most disappointing movie of 2018 for me. I was excited for it because big budget movies that aren't for kids/superhero movies are seem to be getting rarer. But I didn't like the characters, the story, the humor, the fight scenes. Pretty much everything about it. I was quite happy when it was over.
This has way fewer views than it should. BTW, it's so amazing to see AVGN do a review in a movie theater that was so much a part of my childhood that I could WALK to it! Save the Anthony Wayne! That place has a legacy! Also, the roof looks like Gozer's temple. I honestly thought at the end when they opened the pod and the kid said it was a "predator killer" it was a queen alien. When the zoomed in you could see that artifact or whatever it was the restraint ( much smaller obviously maybe like a display model) for a queen alien we saw in avp. It had a large opening in the middle and it came out on sides then had a circular hole at each end where head and arms would go. I was wrong but it was a cool idea in my head.

When I was a teenager I dug Predator 2, but since then I've kinda revisited it and it's kinda dog shit.
The 2010 movie is actually pretty decent, though. Maybe when I'm 60 I'll have seconds thoughts about that one, too, but for now It's all right.

Some predators revere humans. The tribe from the books seem to almost fear them.

Avp 1 had a good plot but that pg 13 shit gotta go avp requiem had the right gore so if they fused the two and took the best parts of them it would have been a better film... Predators was better though the concept was fresh and the 2 different types of predators... i would like a follow up of predators

I could handle the comedy in the older films as it didn't seem out of place but when a comedian is added to the cast, it might be time to jump ship before it gets added to the MCU.

The Predator feels tonally even less like a proper pred movie, so it doesn't get the consideration for whatever soft rebootquel bullshit naming and numbering it wants.

The biggest problem with THIS one is the tone. It's not an action thriller with comedy relief.
It's a comedy.

The movie is an action comedy. People are reviewing as a Suspenseful Horror thriller
The people behind it acted as if it was a horror thriller, they said the "new and improved predator" was going to be "scary", the franchise itself has been more of a horror thriller then an action comedy, and the comedy part is extremely debatable as if it works.
Personally I did not like it at all.
No no no. It was horrible. The acting was bad, the plot was bad, the humor completely missed the mark. It was just really really bad.

Seen it yesterday Starts 7/10 around 36-37 minute drops to 3 ending is 2/10.
There are some critics I go to for reviews of Phantom Thread. You guys are essential reviewers of a Predator movie.
A simple reason that they could have used for why the Predator wants to help humanity with climate change is that, well, if humanity dies off, then the Predator has no humans to hunt.
So, like, he's not being nice nor generous here, but just a self-interested "farmer" ensuring that his "livestock" doesn't die off - not for their benefit, but for his own.
Humans are good prey. They've defeated predators a few times. A worthy hunting challenge, that really tests a predator's mettle.
He figures it'd be a crying shame to lose such good and worthy prey. More fun to hunt than most of the alien species out there.
So he's not really helping us, but helping himself that just incidentally also helps us, as it suits him for us to still be around to hunt.
He brought the Predator Killer armor, so it was likely to arm someone to kill the other clan
No they would take our DNA and spawn us on the hunting planet. They dont need to preserve our planet.
Why would the Predators be "against" Global Warming when they like warm weathe... oh.. wait a minute.. environmentalists keep getting their predictions wrong, so they have to go with the most ambiguous and generic term for their belief so they won't look like idiots when they keep getting their facts and predictions wrong. Humans are not a physiological challenge in the slightest.
We have no claws. We have no razor sharp teeth. Our bipedalism makes us easy to topple. Standing upright, we expose our unprotected abdomen, with the many vital organs it contains. We don't have any exo-skeleton or even a tough hide. There are many animals than run faster than us, that have vastly better hunting instincts (e.g. blood hounds) and far greater strength.
But we have brains. So none of the above matters, when we pull out a shotgun and blow their heads clean off. Or we have the intelligence to work out that the Predators see in infrared, so we can hide by covering ourselves in mud.
We have thousands of years of technological progress. We all Stand on the Shoulders of Giants - who've developed maths, science, technology, etc.. We're a thinking animal.
In nearly every regard, humans are, in fact, easy fodder. Zero challenge. Even a touch pathetic, when you compare us across the Animal World. We are physiologically unremarkable and not an inch of our bodies has "warrior" evolutionarily written on it.
A biological cloning of humanity would only preserve the animal. Keeping the original article alive - with its long history and culture - preserves the man.
And it is man, not the animal, that is the challenge here.

This was the most disappointing movie of 2018 for me. I was excited for it because big budget movies that aren't for kids/superhero movies are seem to be getting rarer. But I didn't like the characters, the story, the humor, the fight scenes. Pretty much everything about it. I was quite happy when it was over.

This has way fewer views than it should. BTW, it's so amazing to see AVGN do a review in a movie theater that was so much a part of my childhood that I could WALK to it! Save the Anthony Wayne! That place has a legacy! Also, the roof looks like Gozer's temple.

I honestly thought at the end when they opened the pod and the kid said it was a "predator killer" it was a queen alien. When the zoomed in you could see that artifact or whatever it was the restraint ( much smaller obviously maybe like a display model) for a queen alien we saw in avp. It had a large opening in the middle and it came out on sides then had a circular hole at each end where head and arms would go. I was wrong but it was a cool idea in my head.
I can't understand how someone can say it's fine. I thought it was one of the worst big profile movies I've ever seen

I love these new rental review episodes I really think this is some of your best work to date. I've watched your videos since 2006 and I honestly get more excited to see a new rental review rather than an AVGN episode. Your creativity hasn't peaked yet.
Those 2 dudes are the reason we get such a shitty product. Far too forgiving. "Well this was bad, and the editing was bad, and there was stuff that happened that didn't make much sense. Yeah it was pretty good." Awful.
