I’ve said it before I’ll say it again, Brandon Frasier is too pure for this world, and he must be protected at all costs. It’s a rare gift from the Gods to get a human on this planet that doesn’t hold grudges when he has every right too always looks out for the people around him and only ever exudes humbleness and genuine kindness for others

I feel like Adam isn't getting enough love in the comments. Hearing the way that other actors have talked about him helping them stand up for themselves (Terry Crews for instance) and how he's just a normal dad/guy outside of acting is just amazing. He genuinely cares so much about people
I feel like it's not too big of a deal? Because he's been on a roundtable before, think of it as a legend returning with different stars 🤷🏾♂️. It kind of does suck but it's great we got to hear from the other guys especially Brendan, Austin and Ke.
There was probably stuff left out of the edit, that maybe he was asked. He also seemed to be very quiet anyway, maybe to give others more room to speak, or maybe he was more comfortable listening.
Ke Huy Quan just won a Golden Globe for his performance and watching this at the same time as his speech is just mind-blogging. It is so well-deserved I’m so happy for him
Colin Farrell is the perfect example of how a person can completely change who they are. Not just by maturing but through hard work and being a better human being.
yes i agree, when he first made it big wow he was like a firework and it went right to his head. as with time and maturity he is a deep thinking humble guy now, and its humbling to see all these guys each with their own trials and tribulations
I didn't know he had an accent. I didn't know it was him until I saw his name. Last time I paid attention to him, he was experiencing substance abuse, but he looks amazing now!
I'm not familiar with Jeremy Pope but I am very happy I found him because he is amazing. I love how all of them gave space and support to one another. This was beautiful.
The fact Spielberg over the course of a most 40 years constantly wrote and sent Key a Christmas gift is incredible. That has to help your confidence, and say you know what I’m gonna do this again and never give up. Key was very inspirational in this.
It’s so sad that we were ROBBED of Brendan and Ke for sooooo long! It’s sad but beautiful at the exact same time. I really hope they both catch fire again, after these roles. Because the world and Hollywood DESPERATELY needs more of all of these guys! Their hearts, love, empathy and humility! Rather than the shallow idiots who have ruined the industry. Would be amazing to see a few movies with all of these brilliant and beautiful people together! Edit: thanks for all the likes. Might be the most likes a comment of mine has gotten. I wouldn’t have even known, about all the likes had someone not commented on it!
17:33 Austin's story really moved me , I was so engaged in his conversation , he's really got that charm, depth , profoundness and humbleness as an actor!
You know what wasn’t at this table? Ego, all of these guys who are at different points in their lives and careers have no ego. It’s refreshing to see, love how authentic and genuine they are. I wish all of them the best of luck and that they remember the advice they all shared. ❤
Austin is just so awesome. His mom is so proud of him! I love watching these men, all of them, intently listening to each other, learning from each other, so interested in each other’s stories.
Is it just me or is this the best round table i’ve seen to date? I was left completely speechless and extremely invested in every single individual story and perspective.
Jeremy representing and protecting the person he was portraying is SO beautiful. If an actor ever portrayed me, I would want them to have that much passion.
Colin seems such a self-aware dude. As he ages, I like him more and more as an actor. Such a caring group - watching these guys intently listening to each other and really trying to understand all points of view, is amazing....
I would say the opposite! He seems to be the only one from the six who lacks self awareness. Just talks a lot of Hollywood nonsense like with each sentence he’s trying to say something so profound and clever.
He did open up out about the failure of Alexander. I don’t understand BF’s reference to “Gatorade” when the potty tipped over. Why doesn’t he say sewage or something?
@@cbierman17 You can always spot a "hater" for a lack of better word (cynic might work) because the depth of their issue with an individual goes no further than finding them to be pretentious or a "pseudo-intellectual". If I didn't know any better I would think were not watching the same interview because I'm not sure how you would come away with this based off how clearly intelligent and introspective he is. Like who you want but cmon bro lmao.
Brendan being here is sweet. And Colin being an intellectual and sharing his thoughts “expectation is a dangerous thing” is such an insightful thought provoking conversation from him. Everyone at this table is great. This is perhaps the best roundtable in a while.
We all have idealistic views of how things will go for us when we're young and nearly everyone goes through the humbling before their 20's are over usually. Those that aren't humbled or don't learn from it are the ones that have major issues for the rest of their life and don't reach their full potential.
The juxtaposition of Ke's story and Colin's story is interesting to say the least. The fact that they ended up on the same table - finally embraced by millions of people, allowing them to embrace their craft while still caring about their audience is nothing short of a miracle.
I think the beauty of this roundtable is how all the actors left their egos behind and opened up to being vulnerable. Talking about their insecurities. And I think this was in part thanks to ke huy quan, who from the beginning set the tone for how the dynamic of the conversation was going to be. His humble and very down to earth way of telling about his life experience, made the atmosphere relaxed and made everyone feel in a safe space to talk not only about the success or situations inside the sets, but also about the fears and moments that influenced their life. Also the interviewer takes part of the reward for this incredible interview, because he was able to navigate topics that can be uncomfortable and delicate for people in a very open but yet respectful way. Bravo!
At about 26 minutes, Ke starts speaking about his journey back into acting and the industry, and it is mesmerizing. At one point, a few minutes in, there is a shot showing ALL of the actors turning to him with full attention, completely rapt in his story, fully engaged and empathizing with his journey; his uncertainty, his nervousness, his doubts, etc. What a lovely demonstration of the depth of human stories, their poignancy, and importance. Thank you for showing this.
I know which moment you're referring to. It's frankly such a wonderful, wholesome moment. The laughter when everyone realised who Ke's lawyer is... just so adorable 😂🥰
@@flodobaggins yes indeed. And how Colin is so empathetic about him being out of the industry for "25 years bruther!". And how engaged they all were, especially Austin, when he talks about the work he put in, just to get the audition right; a dialogue coach, a movement coach, an acting coach, etc. They ALL got it. And how Brendon, arm over the back of the chair, turns himself fully to listen to Ke. Lovely to see the support they all gave each other.
@@matthewharris3898 Yes, YES, YESS!! I loved that moment when Jeremy Pope said, "That thing! There's that thing!" when Ke had doubts about getting the Waymond part. That relatable moment!
I think Ke has demonstrated his willingness to be vulnerable about the challenges in his career, and self-doubt that is so relatable, and that is inviting the roundtable (and everyone he's interviewed with) to lean into truly listening and empathizing. I can feel how much this means to Ke, so I'm rooting for him!
When Jeremy shared what his therapist said, I had the same reaction everyone in that room did…nothing but value. The drive to push everyone away that Austin spoke about as he dealt with grief and depression…thats whats ive been doing for years. It was important to hear that the difference is he always did one more even when he was full of doubt.
That's kind of the theme of the whole discussion; always assume there's a reason why you should get out of the house, do the thing that scares you. It was a matter of hope against hope in several of their stories.
I didn’t realize how committed he was to doing his own stunts when he was younger. Makes you wonder if he would have walked away from the craft if he’d treated his body better early on. Regardless his journey is amazing and fascinating
@@CiviTac It wasn’t about his body. Look up what happened to Brendan Fraser man…he’s been through the ringer. Ex-wife drained his accounts. He was blacklisted afterwards and couldn’t get acting jobs anywhere. He tried to speak up about harassment, is why he was blacklisted. All of that during the time his wife was draining his bank accounts from every movie, stunt, and determination he’s ever had in his life. Hopefully now, he can heal and begin his new life the way he wants to. She didn’t “steal” the money, the courts allowed her to take almost all of it. California had very bad laws back then for men in his position, and he wasn’t properly protected from it happening either. The worst case scenario in a divorce, happened to him. Along with worst case scenario for his career as well. After that…there isn’t much left. That can really break you. However, there is probably much more to his story. I hope he gets his own film made about his life & career. It would be magnificent.
I cried hearing how Brendan and Ke reconnect and support each other. Not to mention the amount of gravity and respect Brendan brings to light for the themes of the Whale and the COVID environment it was made. You can tell how into the conversation Colin is, how he even feels comfortable enough to lean onto the table and put his head down. Austin and Jeremy talk so much about respecting the truth of each of their real-life characters to justice. I am amazed at how much care they are giving each other. Amazing group of men.
Coming to this group interview after the Oscars is so cool to watch. Brendan and Ke are such genuine guys. Colin also felt extremely warm towards these guys. Great stuff.
Colin Farrell, Brendan Fraser and Ke Huy Quan all seem so genuinely excited and seem to be actively listening and encouraging the conversation along. Austin Butler and Jeremy Pope are just riveting to listen to, their voices are so melodic and soothingly pleasant.

This Roundtable made me cry in minutes. Ke is awesome, as are Brandon & the others. Adam was class act taking the back seat & letting others be in the spotline to enjoy the moment they've been waiting for so long.
Bringing this specific group of actors together is the perfect blend of people who are all in very different points in their career. Brendan and Ke are making a huge comeback into the industry, Austin and Jermey are breaking into the big leagues with some critical acclaim and Adam and Colin are making shifts with their style of acting. It's a beautiful thing that despite them being at different points they can still all relate through their craft.
Ke Huy Quan truly seems like one of the most genuine, humble, and beautiful souls in the world. All these guys are amazing, but Ke and Brendan, in particular, just strike me as so deserving of their success and happiness.
I've met Ke several times. He's the most real, coolest dude on the planet. So happy for his re-found success, and acknowledgment....... Most deserving, Ke!
Throughout this whole interview, all I can see is Brendan Fraser, and it makes me emotional just seeing how happy he looks now. Thank you The Hollywood Reporter for consistently putting out these roundtables for different types of artists in the industry.
I feel like Brendan Fraser has so much emotional intelligence in part because of how difficult these past years have been for him. Such a humble and empathetic human. Very happy he overcame and prevailed!
I thinK Brendan had early success but was sick of it, and then had Injuries. They all like Austin it seems. He's being quiet and humble. But Austin is very grateful too. He worked very hard and elvis is so loved. His portrayal made me cry at times. I'm 73 and grew up watching elvis so I know. He deserves the Oscar but I think Colin will get it. He has done some great roles. This one in Banshees I'm not too impressed with. It will be for his body of work. Austin is the one who is like a rocket going up. It's like Leo was. His career is going to explode.
50:40 is just beautiful. Brendan Fraser completely engrosses you because of how emotive and gentle he is. Everyone just instinctively leans in; Absolutely loved this round table
As much as I adore all of the actors at this table I am obsessed with how beautifully Colin's career has aged. From Hollywood party boy in his youth to an incredibly thoughtful, well spoken actor as he's gotten older. Such a wonderful performer to watch

Having A-list actors talk glowingly about each other is such a healthy, refreshing scene. I wish every profession had this roundtable concept. The world would be more empathetic and caring.
The LA times made an actors roundtable just last week that also had Austin, Brendan, and Adam, as well as Bill Nighy, Paul Dano and Jonathan Majors. Look it up, it was great.
Not really. When Jeremy Pope talks about being an artist, and evolving, it was disgusting. Reading scripts and taking directions doesn’t make someone an artist, and that whole self-importance thing just tells me some of these actors have a horrible view of the world. These guys are so caught up in their own distorted view of the world that they have no idea what the average person goes through and holding them up with the ‘it’s so nice that these actors can talk nicely with each other! How refreshing!’ attitude is despicable. Being kind to fellow millionaires is nothing something to pat these guys on the backs about - their egos don’t need massaging any further.
@@Sweetstar00 SHOULD, but won’t. The attitude and make up of staff in a lot of organisations is so diverse it’s almost inevitable that not everyone will get along. If someone isn’t pulling their weight and coasting for example, why would a hard worker acknowledge their work-shy colleague or be nice to them? The only way you’re going to get an attitude of respect and love in a workplace environment is if everyone is on the same page.
Seeing Ke Huy Quan makes me wanna cry, I know how major this must feel, to just have that feeling you’ve always wanted with people you saw doing their thing in the film industry to now being seated with them and being recognized. this felt distinctive from some of the other Roundtables because you could just feel, and hear, in every actor's words how grounded and sincere and modest they were. They were all so genuinely invested in hearing the others' stories and it's a blessing to hear successful actors' stories of self-doubt, anxiety/depression, failure etc. I loved this!! Wow. especially inspired by Brendan and Ke but honestly, all of them are inspiring. I feel like I never hear of actors' journeys of continual rejection for so many years as Ke and the way he's responded to it with such courage and determination is actually so wonderful!!

I’ve said it before I’ll say it again, Brandon Frasier is too pure for this world, and he must be protected at all costs.

Most probably because they all grew up watching Goonies & Indiana Jones. He's kinda childhood hero for a whole generation.
When Jeremy Pope talks about being an artist, and evolving, it was disgusting.
Reading scripts and taking directions doesn’t make someone an artist, and that whole self-importance thing just tells me some of these actors have a horrible view of the world.

You just care cuz the way he looks!
@@SistoActivitatemAtm give over
Check out his Hot Ones episode. He's very introspective and thoughtful and talks so kindly about others.
You might want to check out his actors on actors interview with Jamie Lee Curtis. It was amazing.
Watch his interview with hugh grant
These roundtable discussions are phenomenal. In a world where everything seems empty and hopeless, they give people hope. Just seeing these guys down to earth and expressing their true feelings with the struggles they've been through is such an inspiration.
Hearing Austin talk about Lisa Marie just days before she passed made the story of Elvis and his family so much more real. I'm glad they were able to do the project before she left.
You can tell Brendan is always having a hard time talking like he doesn’t have a voice. We all want to listen to you talk forever Brendan! You have one of the most powerful voices of all time and I can’t get enough! ❤

Fraser has a thyroid condition. He has scars on his neck from the surgeries. He also forgets to take his meds.
ruclips.net/video/6XpAb11hqy4/видео.html awesome segment.
@@Lifeinthe808 seriously! This conversation was well needed
@@nickschauer3299 i posted the other video because it was a one on one with AS & BF. They've been friends for 30 years. I thoroughly enjoyed the roundtable. It should have been longer. So, seriously seriously?
I was deeply moved by Ke's first words. It's amazing that Hollywood and most of world has evolved into a place where talent can have a chance, no matter the way it's presented.
Also Brendan breaking up while talking about his movie is beautiful. You can see how much he cares about his character and you can only imagine all the passion that went into his interpretation.
Austin Butler is truly a marvel to me
One of my favorites roundtables over the years, all these lads feel incredibly authentic and humble which I appreciate immensely because they seem willing to explore and learn as artists and individuals. As an Irishman, I am biased in wanting Farrell or Mescal to win best actor but I have huge love for Fraser and Butler too.
Yes, these lads are all amazing actors, and all seem super humble. Any one of them could potentially get the oscar, but I'm rooting for either Butler or Fraser.
I'm rooting for Farrell or Fraser
I'm Irish too, and love them all but just thought Butler was too class as Elvis, performance of a lifetime , I'm rooting for him on this occasion
I just saw The Banshees Of Inisherin today so it was amazing to run across this video almost immediately afterwards.
What a story! Farrell was amazing.
I've seen Austin's and Adam's movies and they were great too.
I need to see the other three now.
Yes. All came across as really genuine and humble men! A beautiful and respectful sharing moment, for sure!
This is honestly the best roundtable I've ever seen. I cried like a baby multiple times during the course of this video. What an absolutely magical lineup.
is not the best. the one with tom hanks and jaime Foxx and de Niro was the best
Why was there anything to get sad about?
Agree and same hear. The first round table I have ever watched twice in a row.
@stephen geraghty you can cry from other emotions than sadness. I cried from the strong emotional outpouring throughout the entire hour.

Can we give a shout out to the moderator/host! An expert at posing the right questions to the right people at the right time. It’s a skill to keep a balanced conversation going. Great job.
100% this deserves a lot of credit
I agree 100% Unlike other moderators he didn't constantly interrupt the actors, like you said he knew when to interject and keep the conversation going or when to change subject.
@@XLTBlarg I know exactly who you're referring to with your comment about interrupting. That guy was horrendous as a host, always talking over the stories the guests were telling. Hopefully this means THR have taken him off this job.
This was one of the most beautifully tender, tremendously inspiring, humbly broken conversations amongst men that I have ever had the privilege hear.
Love Brendan so much.
I found myself caressing my arm, soothing myself as I listened to Brendans' story. I can feel his vulnerability, even though his nervous energy often gets in the way of his words.
This panel is so rich with emotion.
Indeed, this piece is so emotional and personal, amazing they share their stories so openly.
How does someone caress themselves?
@@runeplate123 Self hugging, wrapping your arms around yourself
@@runeplate123 youuuu knowwwww 😉
Really HARD to listen to him because he's so vulnerable and open, straight from heart to heart.
Whoever had an idea to gather all these beautiful people deserves a raise.
All their stories, so different and unique, their journeys and paths lead them to that table and made a grown man tearful.
Thank you.
Brendon Fraser's role in The Whale was one of the most incredible performances ever done. With a script so close to perfection, Brendon delivers a performance that is poignant, believable and world class, truly worthy of Oscar and the benefits that follow.
I need to watch it asap then
The script was the weakest part of the movie
Austin should get the Oscar. He had to deliver one man that changed over 30 years, and show all those changes.
@@MsTriangle well, with performances like the ones we got, and the incredible direction from Aronofsky, who I’m not particularly a fan of, it’s easy to say that, but it’s a great script. A lot of twists I didn’t see, and a very unique story. Amazing film.
@@MsTriangle you really cant let them just enjoy the script? Really?
