I have never cried so much during a film than when I did with The Whale. One of the most humanizing performances I've ever seen by Fraser wow, the Oscar was SO well deserved. Long live B.F.!
I still remember I was doing night shift, when I heard Brendan's name, I was literally jumping and shouting out of joy! People thought I was 🤣 but a very little they knew❤
Austin should have won it! If it was solely based on who played their role better, Austin would’ve won it by a long shot. I love Brendan, because of how great of a person he is, but I can’t help but think that was the reason he won.
I've watched both a few times I think Austin was perfection as Elvis. He embodied him so well. Brendon was excellent and had to walk in a huge fat suit. I'm happy Brendon won but sad for Austin. But I know Austin will get an Oscar he's young.
I'd like to know how they were seated behind him. I've never seen anyone's kids seated downstairs, unless they are the nominee's +1, like Farrell's son.
When Brendan Fraser won the Oscar, I jumped and screamed like a little boy who just got a new game that he wanted. I'm so happy that Brendan won the Oscar. He truly deserved it more than any other actor.
A HUGE congratulations to Brendan Fraser! Grew up with The Mummy, George Of The Jungle, Looney Tunes: Back In Action, Journey To The Center Of The Earth, and he officially won an Oscar for The Whale! What a huge comeback for his career!!

I can't imagine ever being happier about an Oscar win more than this one. Growing up with some of Brendan's movies and knowing what he went through over the last couple years. It spoke volumes that even the people who didn't like "The Whale" praised Brendan's performance. What a comeback.
His performance was so heartbreaking and it’s those performances you really feel for them and shows the actors are willing to be that raw and vulnerable and Fraser did that.
I came here after watching The Whale. What a touching and humane story it is! I loved every minute of it. Fraser is, hands down, a fabulous actor who truly stands out by taking on complex characters.
Brendan Fraser was shaking because he couldn’t believe he made it. This guy is one of my favourite actors of all time and he well deserved it. The voice the shake in it the words. Truly spectacular for this comeback.

And seeing Samuel and other cast members crying for Brendan is beautiful. Shows how much of a great person Brendan is. I haven't seen the cast cry for a fellow actor winning a Oscar I don't think?
I just saw The Whale tonight and completely lost it at the end, I never cry like that from a film. I've always said that I just simply enjoy films that Brendan Fraser is in... whether it's Bedazzled or The Mummy or The Whale, I just like his films and his performances.
What an acting journey BF has had! As an unknown teen actor in ENCINO MAN to the over-the-top hero in THE MUMMY franchise to the goofiness of GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE. In the last several years we've been reading "Why Hollywood won't hire Brendan Fraser any more." He just never gave up until that one role came along for him. Congrats!
Just finished watching the Whale and so glad that he won an award. Human drama, when it is simple is the most impactful. His performance was so emotional and I don't remember when I watched this kind of movie last time.

When his name was called, I screamed. Then cried. I didn't know him from The Mummy, George of the Jungle or Bedazzled. I knew him from the very underrated 'Looney Tunes Back In Action'. I watched that movie almost religiously when I was little. I remembered his name, but never thought much else about him. Until last year, with the Venice Film Festival standing ovation. When I heard about the event, I thought to myself "Oh! Brendan Fraser? I remember him". Out of interest, I decided to do some research. I just watched The Whale, and his performance was amazing. I cried so much. Welcome back, Brendan
I’m surprised he actually won… not because he didn’t deserve it, but because he’s done so many dumb corny movies. Usually when an actor has done so many corny comedies, they don’t get recognition even when they do an Oscar worthy performance
@@nsasupporter7557people get uncomfortable and that's where the best things happen. A great performance will shadow over tons of comedy's. You will remember a Whale but forget plenty of small fish
What a perfect comeback! What an emotional and genuine speech! I felt so excited for his win! Brendan won the Critics Choice Award, the SAG Award and then the Academy Award! His performance in The Whale was so moving and really blew my mind! I’m so glad that his dream really came true!❤
I love how even though Darren wasn’t nominated that year, he still showed up at the ceremony for Brendan’s victory. Because Darren lead him to his comeback.
Brendan's 2 well paid PR firms gave this movie a lot of free publicity.
Brendan's Oscar was well deserved. His performance reminded me quite a bit of Ernest Borginine's fantastic Oscar-winning performance in Marty (1955). In fact, Marty and The Whale would make a great double feature. Very moving and emotional character studies.
Excellent suggestion! Haven't heard his name mentioned in ages. Definitely some classical actor vibes. Gonna look that one up 👍
But Butler was robbed
Azo Hundred
What an insult! Marty was a nice, normal guy who found love in a nice, normal woman. What the Hell does that have to do with a 600lb queer, deadbeat dad?
@@lexkanyima2195 Copying an artist whose entire life in the spectacle was totally documented is impressive, but not as impressive as what Fraser did in The Whale.
@@alan_7390 how so ?
I love everything about it. The silence in the room when he talks. Colin Farell shaking his hand. Everybody is granting him his absolute best Performance. I just watched the movie and I cried and cried and when I believed there is no more tears there were more. It's one of the best movies in the world.
This was one of the most deserving Best Lead Actor wins I've ever seen.
My mom and I screamed and cheered so loudly for him. This still brings tears to my eyes today because you can hear how humble and genuine Brendan is. He deserved this. We do not deserve him.
One of the most deserved wins of all-time, up there with Philip Seymour Hoffman for me!
I was at work watching this, before the Oscars were about to start I created a voting game for all my coworkers to choose who will win the Oscar. I was having lunch watching the TV, I went onto my push to talk radio and announced that we are up to the Oscar for Best Actor and I when I said his name I could hear all my friends clapping and cheering throughout the store. He has truly made a triumphant comeback.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the King of the Jungle."
Had to read that in John Cleese's voice with pride. Cheers to an upstanding gentleman who earned it!
I've never cried during an Oscar speech before
When the Oscar’s were happening, I was a massive fan of the film Elvis, and was beyond upset that Austin butler didn’t win best actor.
Today I watched the whale for the first time and I believe he truly deserves this Oscar, it was a beautiful film and an amazing comeback for Brendan Fraser
Watching Brendan get his Oscar is my happy place! Whenever life gets me down I come here and see this the greatest of all comebacks in history! I have loved him from the very start of his career and supported him when he disappeared from us praying he would come back and we would see this most humble and gentle of men once again, Brendan you are simply perfect in every sense of the word !
3:13 the heartbreak when he says "until it stopped" is palpable
I had the pleasure of speaking with this man a couple of years ago, through a virtual comic cons meet and greet.
Growing up, he was my childhood hero, and I’m happy to say he still is. This is an award that has definitely been well earned much love to this man!
1:12 I was waiting the whole ceremony for this moment. And it became true.
What an awesome comeback (along with Ke Huy Quan).
Brendan Fraser, Phoenix from the Flames.
From "The Mummy" to "The Whale", what a great comeback.
What a thrill it is to know that Brendan Fraser is an Academy Award winner now
The young Austin Butler an the great Colin Farrell seemed so genuinely happy for Brendan Fraser, it's heart warming
Austin was a kid when Brendan was the big star
That's what my thought was@@emiliobello2538
His reaction is amazing. He was my hero on screen as a child. No matter the horrific feats he faces he overcame! And now he’s really doing it!
I have never cried so much during a film than when I did with The Whale. One of the most humanizing performances I've ever seen by Fraser wow, the Oscar was SO well deserved. Long live B.F.!
Oh me too. He was beyond amazing.
I still remember I was doing night shift, when I heard Brendan's name, I was literally jumping and shouting out of joy! People thought I was 🤣 but a very little they knew❤
I like Austin Butler's nod when they announce the winner. Even he knew Brendan deserved it.
Austin should have won it! If it was solely based on who played their role better, Austin would’ve won it by a long shot. I love Brendan, because of how great of a person he is, but I can’t help but think that was the reason he won.
@@clintonbehrens1133says only guy who has not seen the Whale.
I've watched both a few times I think Austin was perfection as Elvis. He embodied him so well. Brendon was excellent and had to walk in a huge fat suit. I'm happy Brendon won but sad for Austin. But I know Austin will get an Oscar he's young.
@@patriciasmith5083 Maybe he'll get it for Dune Part 2.
Congratulations to Brendan, he certainly made a comeback in style, alongside his former "Encino Man" costar, Ke Huy Quan.
He had a couple of lines, and Brendan had.......
It's good to live in a world where Jessica Chastain and Brendan Fraser finally both own an oscar ❤
I love his speech, but I really love the hug he gives his sons and the shoutout to his son at home. He's a genuine guy.
I'd like to know how they were seated behind him. I've never seen anyone's kids seated downstairs, unless they are the nominee's +1, like Farrell's son.
Omg I just finished the movie. I can’t stop crying. 2:56 omg ❤😢
Such a beautiful performance and such a well deserved win! I'm so happy to see him back, and wish him continued success.
When Brendan Fraser won the Oscar, I jumped and screamed like a little boy who just got a new game that he wanted. I'm so happy that Brendan won the Oscar. He truly deserved it more than any other actor.
Why ? Butler was robbed
A lot of guys waving the flag here.
@Lex Kanyima Butler did an amazing job as Elvis, but I thought Brendan Fraser had a better performance.
@@rockstar-gc2006 how ? Fraser didn't win the Golden Globe leading up the Oscars
@@lexkanyima2195 A lot of actors who've won the Golden Globes don't win the best actor from the Oscars.
A HUGE congratulations to Brendan Fraser!
Grew up with The Mummy, George Of The Jungle, Looney Tunes: Back In Action, Journey To The Center Of The Earth, and he officially won an Oscar for The Whale!
What a huge comeback for his career!!
He’s always been famous to me. So much humility.
I've just watched the film, I thought it was magnificent and his acting was powerhouse, he truly deserved this I'm so happy for him, when he won and I heard he'd won, I was overjoyed and so glad for him, I've always liked him,
Awesome! I'm looking forward to watching this ❤
I can't imagine ever being happier about an Oscar win more than this one. Growing up with some of Brendan's movies and knowing what he went through over the last couple years. It spoke volumes that even the people who didn't like "The Whale" praised Brendan's performance. What a comeback.
Yes
This ceremony was really close to the good old days of the Oscars, congratulations.
No comparison. I remember the 80's when there were real stars there.
His performance was so heartbreaking and it’s those performances you really feel for them and shows the actors are willing to be that raw and vulnerable and Fraser did that.
I love the harp cue at 1:35, perfect timing to show that Oscar gold!
Congrats Brendan Fraser!!
He is my favourite actor... Finally, he deserved this after a long struggle...salute to Brendan Fraser, a good man.
I came here after watching The Whale. What a touching and humane story it is! I loved every minute of it. Fraser is, hands down, a fabulous actor who truly stands out by taking on complex characters.
Every single acting win was INCREDIBLE.
What do you mean? All actors who have won Oscars were deserved? No they weren’t
The way he gets excited.. so sincere and emotional😢
😂Sure it is.
He protec
He attac
But most importantly
He came back.
Brendan Fraser was shaking because he couldn’t believe he made it. This guy is one of my favourite actors of all time and he well deserved it. The voice the shake in it the words. Truly spectacular for this comeback.
He was shaking because he needed a drink 🤦🏻♂️.
I have never felt so proud! That day i cried, got so emotional, growing up watching my favourite actor, my hero, he who inspired me to be an actor. I thank you Brendan! I think we've all waited for so long for this to happen! x
The UK @Brendanfraserofc 🤩
Unfortunatly i'm not im afraid@Brendanfraserofc
I am just a huge fan and supporter of Brendan, i have such respect and awe of him. Grown up watching his talent grow.
I thank you again for your support and repsect for this fine gentleman
I remember not watching the Oscars this year. I woke up in the middle of the night, probably around 2:30 AM and checked to see if Fraser won and I was SOOOO happy. Then I saw that ke huay quan won and I literally felt such joy. Went back to bed with true happiness. Exactly what I had wanted
I just finished watching the movie, and few have left me with a lump in my throat at the ending. This was one of them.
Congrats!
Such a humble man. Truly a wonderful human being. And a very fine actor. God Bless Him.
I remember reading this play in school and thought it was such a great role. Was so glad to see Brendan and other bring it to life
He deserves this award. Overcoming story. May he return even more to the cinema screens.
I’m surprised he won actually
Just finished watching the Whale and so glad that he won an award. Human drama, when it is simple is the most impactful. His performance was so emotional and I don't remember when I watched this kind of movie last time.
Deserved. Regardless of how you feel about the film. He nailed it.
A childhood icon we missed seeing on the big screen has returned to us triumphantly. That’s Brendan Fraser, people.
This man has suffered so much in hes life and u can totally tell he was not expecting it and im so happy for him grew up watching hes movies as a kid and so happy for him 😊
According to him. All lies.
@@mytv89626The man literally swung into a big tree on a vine for George of the Jungle. That’s gonna hurt…
Everytime I watch this clip, I still cross my finger for, Brendan Fraser. Thank God he won the it.
This was a great night all our Childhood Hero's for sure.
Merecido pela atuação e carreira.

A year later and I still come back to this to cry. This man is a true gem
Wow he really earned this honor. He belongs in the category of actors and actresses at the highest level of the craft. He is truly a brilliant actor.
You earned your check.
Just watched The Whale and though it was terrific. Never has anyone deserved that oscar more than Brendan Fraser. So happy for him
What a come back , he so deserved . We love you Brendan !!
I’ve never cried because of an awards ceremony… seeing this happen for a guy like Brandon really makes me happy. He deserved it. We love you man!!!
i Love how Halle smiles when she finds out he won the oscar
When his name was called, I screamed. Then cried.
I didn't know him from The Mummy, George of the Jungle or Bedazzled. I knew him from the very underrated 'Looney Tunes Back In Action'. I watched that movie almost religiously when I was little.
I remembered his name, but never thought much else about him. Until last year, with the Venice Film Festival standing ovation. When I heard about the event, I thought to myself "Oh! Brendan Fraser? I remember him".
Out of interest, I decided to do some research. I read about his triumphs, his hardships, but most importantly his courageousness, and his truly inspiring perseverance.
Witnessing his comeback has been so amazing and heart-warming.
We're so incredibly proud of you, you amazing man.

You read the PR propaganda that Brendan paid them for. All lies.
Love how Austin stood up for him
This was one of the most heartwarming things to happen in a long time. EVERYONE was rooting for Brendan and he was absolutely phenomenal. Looking forward to seeing him in many more movies!
You won't. He can't be insured for more than bit parts and voiceovers. Aronofsky had to pay for a completion guarantee and hire a watcher, just to cast him. Alcoholic Schizophrenics make studio heads, nervous.
Fraser alongside Di Caprio has been the most heartfelt wins in Oscar recent history
I remember jumping up from my seat when they said Brendan’s name! And I went over and embraced my mom and we both cried. It was the greatest acting comeback we had ever seen.
Still crying for Brendan, he deserves a lot of love
1:11 when i saw this back then, i was almost sure it would for either Colin Farrell or Austin Butler. So, when Brendan Fraser was announced as the winner, it took me for surprise.
I think it is safe to say that A24 dominated this year's Oscars.
