Ray is ahead of his time when talking about about the psychology side, not worrying about what's happen in the frame but focusing on the next, which why they both Hendry and Davis won so many titles

Huge turning point in Stephen's favour in this final. Interestingly Steve should have won their 1990 UK final clash 16-14 but poor position by Steve cost him that epic final. Even if Steve had of won the 1990 final, Stephen had the mindset to overcome this type of defeat. I was always a Steve Davis supporter, and at the time I didn't like Stephen much but have to admit that he was a class act and was the perfect player to take over the number 1 mantle. Both were truly great champions in their heyday.

@@GHOSTDOG637 Measured the pockets on your computer screen have ya or just repeating a truism? During Hendry's career he played and regularly beat Williams, Higgins, and ROS - who are still pretty much the best players now. So how was the opposition 'far weaker'? Yes, the strength in depth is greater now, but that bares little relevance to the latter stages of tournaments. Think before you type...

You're not wrong. Actually, if Ronnie has a relative weakness, it's from distance. Add to that his sometimes fragile mentality and a prime Hendry is a real threat to any version of ROS...

Hendry would of course go on to win the 1990 world title, take over the world no.1 from Davis and dominate the 90s

Did they give the highest break prize money to Steve Davis? It says on Wikipedia that Stephen Hendry scored the highest break of the 1989 UK Championship a 141.

@road of snooker finals Yes when Ronnie came along he was certainly competition for Hendry but by the time Ronnie won his first UK title against Hendry in 1993 Stephen Hendry had already won 3 World titles and Hendry won all his World titles in the 90s. Ronnie never won the Worlds until 2001.
