Exactly. I loved hello neighbor when watching the alphas and beta's, but the actual release honestly bored me. And it didn't pull together well. It seemed unfinished and rushed in the game play rather than the random exploration it used to be. Just my opinion though
I have to agree with you, I actually think it's sad what happened with Hello Neighbor. I must admit that the early alpha build was mildly interesting, but the game was getting worse with every update and eventually resulted in possibly the messiest release I've ever seen. Granny is at least slightly better than most of the bootleg Hello Neighbor knock-offs that plague the google play store. Seriously, there is a worrying amount of hello neighbor bootlegs and they're all re-skins of the same shitty templates and spam advertisements at you every 7 seconds to revenue money.
Taking the planks and putting them over the hole is honestly a really damned clever puzzle. It makes sense, it's rooted in logic, the answer is right in front of you, and yet it's not obvious and takes some thinking to figure out.
John, I watched this video when it was relatively new and I was going through chemo. This was perhaps my favorite game I watched you play. I'm in 2.5 years remission now. I miss watching you play this and I hope to see you play that Puppet Combo rendition of this game.

I like the inverse hello neighbour concept. I think the house structure is well implemented.But the game in general feels empty. It needs more. More sound clues (I don't talk about adding spooky music or a scream when you die, i'm talking about Grandma over here), more items (i mean, they got this "Grandma can hear everything in the house, from the cracks on the floor and when you drop stuff" mechanic and like the idea but there aren't many useless items around and having just 1 slot for inventory seems cancerous. Adding vases on the rooms, plates on the kitchen and stuff laying around like boxes and old clothing will make it feel more alive), Inventory (As said, having to dance beetween floor to floor to attic to basement isn't funny nor challenging) and make Grandma like have schedules (Like, the only thing she does all day is roam around her own house while setting bear traps and trying to find you when she clearly knows you are on your room and she can really easily go there and beat you up. Make her do something that gives the player more time to roam around, you are talking about a phone game, not a FPS, you can't be always running around, game should reward the player for being patient and planning moves. Trow you some ideas : Make her sit and watch some soap on a rusty tv or listen to a radio. Make her clean dishes or be around the kitchen for some reason. Make her beat up the dummy thing with her bat for a while. Anything that makes her be ocuppied doing something else and not being constantly after the player.) Enchanced Crouch mechanic (make the player noiseless) and fix the crossbow It hurts but with all of the above added, it should be fun enough). And, this is more of a me complain thing but...Make the reward for completing the painting bigger. Like, don't add an extra day, make something like "Now Grandma feels nostalgic and walks slower and groans louder" or "Grandma feels so happy about the painting that she will be 6 minutes straight without doing nothing". Something that makes you say "Oh boy, i'm so glad i travelled across the whole house, using my almost no existing Inventory and risking getting beat up by Grandma to get this painting". Gaining an extra day when you can easily lose 4 looking for the pieces doesn't seem like a deal. Other than that, it's well made for a mobile game and easy to complete with the broken crossbow but it could be better with all what i said (and maybe more but, mobile games can have so little aparently) i give it a 4/10

I think this game itself is pretty cool, if it was on Steam and not a mobile game I could see myself having a lot of fun playing it and beating it on hard even. It's nice to see a puzzle game that has actual puzzles to it and a number of them actually require you to think instead of "Use A on B."
