  • Yoga with Adriene has taken over the RUclips World, and expanded to a subscrption service for a deeper dive into her offerings. Adriene never really knew just how big her project would become, and it shows that sometimes it is overwhelming to continuously create for the masses who want her yoga content. She is now is millions of living rooms across the world, and in this interview shares a bit about her thoughts on Yoga elitism in our Modern Western culture, and where the root of that "elitism" may stem from. #yogawithadriene #findwhatfeelsgood #yoga #yogaforveryone

      I noticed how good she was after talking to a male l friend of mine. He does yoga with someone else and is all competitive and about the correct shape, whereas Adrienes principle that if a shape doesn't feel good or perfect, It doesn't matter, you go as far as you can today and there are different options, is really ingrained in my practice.

    This is why I admire her so much. She is a humble instructor, and her material is thoughtfully communicated to her audience. I have never stepped foot in a studio (yet) due to poor reviews of local yoga studios with hierarchy/ego driven instructors with no sense of humility.

    This is why I’ve always felt so welcome in Adrienne’s studio. My body doesn’t work quite like the average, so I physically can’t do every pose she can do, but she always reminds me that the most important thing is to do your best, not to look exactly like the instructor.

    This is so valuable. I appreciate this as someone who follows her yoga classes, but also as a facilitator in the spiritual field. It is so important to do what she says here and i have seen the other example she mentions often and how it indeed creates a hierarchy which can be unsafe to people and can give facilitators an inflated sense of self. Which is both potentially dangerous.

    • @yogawellnessclips
      @yogawellnessclips  Год назад +4

      Agree here as a facilitator myself it’s a hard role to be in. There is always some question if you should be a facilitator or naming yourself as a learner as well. I think no matter who you are we are all inclined to the inflated sense of self, but hopefully through meditation and connecting back to pure intentions we can create safe, trauma informed spaces for people worldwide.

    Adriene is wonderful. The yoga classes at my gym can be quite hierarchical which is difficult when you're in a larger body but I try to stay humble, focused on myself and keep in mind this kind of philosophy that yoga is for everybody and every body. Yoga instructors are human too and don't always get it right and that's ok.

    I love following along with Adrienne's videos because of her philosophy. It was so easy to start as a beginner, while also feeling the benefits of the practice from day one. I thought, as with most exercises, it would take at least a few weeks of commitment to start experiencing results, but I already noticed such a huge shift in my mood and overall attitude from my first day of yoga with Adriene 😊 I'm so not good at, well, being bad at things, but Adriene gave me the assurance to embrace being a beginner. After some time it enabled me to embrace being a beginner in other areas of my life as well.

    😊Yeah, and i see some videos where yogis do a lot of rest in a posture, some like ones she is speaking of. I like her videos, but i love those who go super slow, its almost peaceful. I never practiced advanced yoga. Main thing is to go slow or moderate for me where i can completely breath and be less fidgety. When im done, i go forward. I dont mind skipping a step or two between in order to go slow.

    Yoga is a very personal "experience" for me, for many different reason. I started with Adrien a few years ago when I really needed Yoga in my life and then restarted a few months ago and continuing every single day with no exception. I tried other online experiences but, honestly, they've never lasted more than a couple of days: straight back to Adrien! Tha main reason is her calm, humility, capacity to put herself in other people's shoes without judging. And of course the fact that you don't need fancy staff but just yourself and a mat (and possibly a Benji LOL) is a big plus.

I'm 50 in a couple of months, have a knackered spine and need a walking stick but I don't care. It's not a competition, you leave your ego at the door of a yoga class, & that includes the teacher
