I've never heard this song before, but I love this. I went to high school in the early 90s in Southern California, and we had our own version of unrealistic expectations. My town is so coastal that you could walk from my high school to the beach in 10 minutes, so you were pretty much expected to be 6ft. tall, blonde, tan, a surfer, etc. in that environment or you didn't fit in. I was none of those things, except I grew into my weight after eighth grade and spent my whole high school career skinny. But wouldn't you know, I was insecure about that. I found my tribe eventually: a group of band nerds and drama geeks who didn't give a crap about dances and popularity or any of that stuff. Thirty years later, we're all still friends. It gets better 🌞.
