Ah! good to here mine had all the same attributes as your real zippo lighter expect that the engraving on the bottom of mine say G 13 and inside its F 13
@@VoiceOfPeopleToday The first letter is the month it was manufactured and the two numbers denote the year. The case and inserts do not always match. For instance; L 13 would be Dec 2013, A 22 would be Jan 2022; B 22 Feb 2022, etc.
Case and insert date stamps more often than not do not match i.e. having different months of manufacture due to them being produced at different times and put together at random
I have one comment about your statement about the date engravings needing to be the same on the insert and the case. According to the zippo website it is actually rare to have this be the case since inserts and cases are manufactured separately and are paired up randomly.
So the dates of the inserts and case don't always match. I've had a couple that I bought new in a store and the insert was off by a year. So that's not always an example of being a fake
3:00 is incorrect, not all Zippo mechanisms have that bulge. I know for a fact 1998 Zippos do not have it, and probably there are Zippos from other years that don't have it too.
I just got a vintage brushed brass zippo on Amazon and don’t see the R anywhere on the bottom like my other zippos is this fake or bc it’s vintage bc when looking at the reviews I didn’t see anyone saying it’s a fake.. sorry I’m just getting into zippos
Usually the L will stand for the month of manufacture corresponding with which place the letter is in the alphabet and the 14 will be the year of manufacture. Being 2014
There is so many false "information" in this video, I don't know where to start. E. g. the colour of the flints, or the different date stamps on case and insert. Also the text that is stamped on the insert. There are many different versions on different Zippos. And there are some real differences that are not noticed. No word about the completely different hinge lock, even the flint screw on the red lighter is diffenrent, that is clearly visible in the video. Sorry, but this video is useless, especially for people that are not familiar with Zippos.
I was hoping to see an actual fake Zippo attempting to be an authentic Zippo. This is just a knock off company that made their own lighter similar to Zippo, being called a fake. Nowhere on the lighter does it seem to be trying to come off as a Zippo. It's just a cheap lighter that you can find in any and all truckstops. I regret giving this a view.
No offense but pointless. An authentic Zippo will have the zippo trademark on the bottom of the case. That's all you need to know. Zippos come in a lot of shapes and sizes so you can't go by that.
Yeappers you can spot a zippo knockoff, it's NOT a forgery or from a company making zippo fakes, it's a company making it's own version of a wicked lighter. This like saying Honda makes fake cars because they aren't the first car manufacturer. so what is your next video going to be, spot the fake Ronson lighter? There lighters look a lot like zippo's too.
Boi u so wrong ... When u try to buy zippo lighter in non US countries u almost always hear from fake zippo sellers that they have zippo lighter for sale , ofc fake once are much cheaper, so if u are not stupid u know its not orginal quality , so there for stupid ppl when they buy cheap one, and they think its "zippo" it makes bad name for the originals ...
Any company trying to forge a zippo lighter would have stamped or at least painted zippo on the bottom of the lighter. That sir is the difference between a forgery and a knockoff. If any company tried to forge a zippo lighter zippo would destroy that company in any Court of law, zippo does have the money to pay 100K/per hour lawyer's. So anyone with a brain won't forge their lighter's, but how ever making a knockoff is legal and Zippo can't do anything about that. As far as someone selling a lighter and saying it's something that's it's not. That's a lie, a con-game, that's a criminal act performed by the individual themselves the knockoff lighter company is not responsible for that. As a matter of fact you got coned thinking that this video could help you spot a forgery. It doesn't do that at all, it showes the difference between a Zippo and a NOT-Zippo lighter. Don't feel bad, I got coned in to watching this video too, and you know what I still know nothing about a actual forged zippo lighter and neither do you. Hopefully you have a better understanding between knockoff and forgery.

Thank you so much for such informative video. Base from ur video, i'm pretty sure that mine is original. The different is i'm using Zippo Slim. Very good videos my friend. Done subs and cheers from Malaysia. 🙂🙏👍
03:36 - 03:48 : Needs correction. The dates of the inserts and case don't always match.

@@publicopinion3596 I don't know the symbolic of those letters, but based on your description, yours looks like an original lighter.
Correct.

I've got a carreras guards zippo lighter with japan stamped on its base. Is it real?.what's its worth
My zippo, has two different markings, the bottom of the case has L 14,the inside mechanism has A 15,what does that mean?

3:41 False
Some of the points are not correct due to the steel case zippos
The date match is noted and highlighted by other users too. Besides that, please let me know.

excellent lighter and luxurious
My lighter says j 20 # but case has l 20 # 😢
Who buys a Zippo when Zorro lighters are much better made?
I’ve never seen a bulge on the inside of any zippo lighters..?…!..?
