I had just started playing Pokémon Go when this happened. I was still learning the game and was kind of scared and confused because I heard the top player in the world had received a ban from the game. I wasn’t watching RUclips at all so I really didn’t know anything. Until right now, I never knew the actual reason. I only knew it was a breach in the terms. Now I understand why and I admire Brandon even more. He didn’t realize what he was doing was wrong, and he has never blamed Niantic for the situation. I really respect Brandon’s ideals and can’t even begin to imagine the dedication to the game and all the energy it take to play this game so whole heartedly. I like playing but consider myself a casual player. I play every day but have only made it to level 42 so far. I have learned a lot from Brandon on RUclips as well as watching Billy, Nick and Zoe. I watch other players but you guys are my favorite players. You guys make playing Pokémon even more fun for me. Thanks Brandon for telling this story and thank you for your videos and for sharing your expertise. 😊
He knew what he was doing. He was making money off pkmn go by offering in game services. He helped countless ppl cheat and got what he deserved, as with anybody else in the game that has been caught up.

@@GahmConrad 😂. I have been lucky to maximize some of my play by using tips from Brandon and the other utubbers who offer lots of great advice. I am also retired so I can go out whenever I want. But I do have a life outside of Pokémon. Just have fun no matter where you are on the scale. Thanks for your kind remarks. 😊

If I recall correctly, all of the circumstances of the ban were known at the time, I recall the graphic with the mewtwo prices going around. However, it's interesting learning about how it affected Brandon personally. Congratulations on making more than $9000/month via youtube nowadays!

Oh, that was YOU! I only started following you within the last year. Your videos have helped me with the team rocket bosses and Giovanni. Before that, I didn't know about you... or so I thought. Reading the comments, I found that, that top PoGo player that got banned for 30days was you. I remember my fiance and I were mocking Niantic for banning you, thinking they were out to get you because you're one of the top players. Glad to know you came out with a positive effect. i like how not hurting anyone else in the game can get you banned but other games where you play on someones account for pvp doesnt get you banned when it should

I remember when u got banned. Im IRL friends with a bunch of people on ur friends list so when that happened it was huge news
My original account was banned because I used a third party app that allowed a lot of necessary pokemon management.
This was before mass transfer. It allowed you to mass transfer, mass rename and mass evolve, when you could level by accumulating dozens of Pidgeys and rattatas and then popping an XP egg (not really necessary these days).
I was super bummed, especially because the three strikes rule was only added a month later.

I got a shadow ban for spoofing because I would teleport to hundos and unowns because they were rare at the time. I thought I was safe on my main account because I only spoofed in my local area or when it was Raining and I got injured and had to stay home. That first ban wave most of my friends got it worse and got Banned for a month.
I never felt like spoofing ever again.

Back when I was able to get on my discord account. I was chasing a hundo norbat. I had to jog a few blocks, cross a busy hiway, and cross a bridge to the next town over. I made the post and got motivated that I was going after it. Well I finally get there. Sweating like crazy, out of breath ready to faint. Then on the first ultra ball, excellent throw, with a golden razz. It broke out on the first ball and fled. Shortly after I got there I posted that I was there and found it. Someone wanted me to use their account to try and get it for him. I had to politely say no. Because I too have had 2 strikes. Sometimes I feel terrified to even play the game because of getting that 3rd strike. I try my best to make sure that I'm following tos. Not going to lie. I'd die if my 3rd strike ever happens.
Niantic sucks so bad. So much that I don't feel bad spoofing as long as I don't take down other's gyms while spoofing.

The crazy thing is that what you were doing is a VERY common practice in gaming. For example, plenty of FPS games communities have players who are small-time streamers and they make some side money unlocking high tier kill or damage badges. They even unlock high tier badges/rewards in ranked/competitive modes for noobs/bots who can't get them on their own. Others even sell their accounts after getting burned out or bored of the game. Tbh I've never understood why people pay someone else to play the game for them or even pay large sums of money for someone else's account. It just can't feel as gratifying as doing it yourself! I could understand paying someone money and giving them your account to say catch a regional pokemon that you're likely to never encounter because of your location, but hey I'm no one to judge and like I said this is a very common practice in gaming so there is clearly a market for it.

Beldum Community Day was a big blow I suppose
In 2020 I got permanently banned from niantic's wayfarer, without getting any warning, mail or anything, and when I asked for the reasons why I got banned they told me my pokemon go account linked to wayfarer was subject to punishments, but I've never been warned/suspended/banned in pogo, so I don't know what is wrong and I can't recover my wayfarer account (and increase its medal in pogo) 🤦♀️

There are companies here that do Pokemon tours. They drive everyone around in a van and help them with finding stops and keeping them from driving and playing.

I hearded crazier stories - people paying 1000s of dollars on eBay just to buy an account with a rare shiny. Some people have too much money and just buy what they like.

There are a lot of people that break the TOS daily and doesn't get banned. Some might say how they break is not a big deal or doesn't affect others. Others break and really affect the playing of other players and get away with it. So perhaps the only reason you got caught and punished is because you advertised and monetized.
With that said, it takes a lot for someone to publicly recognize their mistakes and tell the story.
I REALLY enjoy your videos and love how much you love playing this game. I still hold dearly in my collection the blue shellos you gave on PogoFest 2019. It is like a honor trophy for me to have met such a legend in this fun game. Keep up the grind and the RUclips videos and THANK YOU for supporting us on the #hearusniantic movement, I am sure it is really hard to not raid as you are used to.
