Ahh I'm a longtime lover of the Koh Gen Do Aqua foundation and while I'm excited to try the new formulation (getting down to the end of my last bottle of the original) I'm a little nervous about the color tweaks. 213 was suuuuch a perfect winter match for me. Thank goodness they sell packets of samples on their website.
I also love the Tom Ford Stick Foundation. My complexion is very similar to yours, and I wear 6.0 Natural.....the color is little darker on me, so I typically wear my TF foundation during the summer. Lovely video. How do you use setting and finishing powders? I am fairly new getting back into makeup and I'm not sure of the difference between the two.
I'm wearing the Sisley Cushion Foundation and I'm really enjoying it and the Cle de Peau loose powder to set and the Guerlain meteorites to finish. Setting powders are to set your makeup down to prevent it from moving around or sticking to other things. I like applying a very light layer all over so it makes a nice smooth canvas for other powder products like bronzer, blush, etc. Finishing powder is one of the last steps and gives your skin the sheen you want - can be radiant or matte. But it also helps buff your makeup and really blends it all together and makes it all very seamless looking. Hi Michelle, I love this video. Great tips for all the foundations. I too, have dry, sensitive skin along with the fact that I am 61. One tinted moisturizer/sunscreen I like that you should try is the 3Lab Perfect BB SPF40. It is a lighter coverage that blends beautifully. The sunscreen works really well if you are in the sun for the day.

I wish the LM foundation worked for me. When I would take off my makeup, it was like it disappeared and came off in a pink tone. It felt great but seemed to vanish. So far the Koh Gen Doh and Armani are working well. Thanks for the recommendation. My go to is the TF waterproof foundation concealer in the tube. I use very little, and it stays put.
Thank you for this. Thorough as always. For me, this was the year of foundations. I narrowed things down quite a bit on what I actually like. I finally got around to trying the LaMer Soft Fluid foundation which jumped over all others to be my number 1. Koh Gen Do Aqua is my number 2. I also tried the LaMer Restorative Skin Tint. Used it 3x and immediately ordered a backup. Thank you for that one! Chantecaille Just Skin Tint is another favorite. For a powder foundation I like Koh Gen Do Glass Film and it doesn't make me look dry which is huge. For concealer I really like the Bare Minerals Barepro stick concealer. It is nice and creamy, doesn't drag or cake and gives the right amount of coverage for me. For the rest of the categories I don't have THE one yet. Working on it though. Love your eye look today. So pretty.
I just watched this on my laptop and wow- your eye makeup! I saw it's new!! Kevyn Aucoin Emphasize Eyeshadow Design Palette in Unblinking - I love it! Now to decide that color family or copper- I love them both but I tend to lean to those beautiful soft neutrals like you :-)

I always take the tatcha and I break it down in my hand then add just a small pump of another primer like Fenty or Stila. Then I put it on it take the blurring effect to whole other level.
I think you are very good at finding and using foundations that truly match your skin tone. Not trying to be a skin tone that u aren’t :) Your neck, part and hair line and face all seem to look the same. :)
Hi Michele, I am glad to see that you feel better. Your videos are priceless, the most amazing descriptions of products. I love all of them. Totally agree with some of your favorites such as the La Mer Foundation that I bought because of you, the Tom Ford stick, the Sisley tinted, Charlotte Tilbury pressed powder and the meteorites with the Sonia g face one. For me I would like to add another stick that I bought this year and love it, by Terry nude expert duo that is half foundation and half highlighter, very creamy and with a beautiful finish, also La Mer reparative skintint ( bought based on your reviews too), Sensai glowing base as a primer, I have been using a lot and I love it with La Mer foundation and the new Charlotte loose powder, I still prefer my La Mer loose powder but I find that I love the finish of these despite the smell ( I know you don’t like it at all😊). I need that Cle de Peau though! Regarding concealers i think that my favorite is still The Retoucher from Charlotte, I have some others, including the Cle de Peau radiant but for any reason I think the retoucher applies more evenly on me. Hello, Michele, I thought too, that La Mer, Clé de Peau The foundation, Orchidée Impériale cream foundation and etc.. is very natural looking foundations. But after I tryed Kanebo Impress Granmula Foundation, I understood, that only this foundation can win first place in foundation battle with whom the skin looks naturally beautifull. In spite of, that this foundation is hard to put on, is not on speaking terms with most of make up bases, I give him the first place. I would be interested in knowing what do You think of this foundation. I this that You will be interested in this fondation, because its texture and finish is non comparable with other fountadions that is on the market.

I'm on my third bottle of the La Mer Soft Fluid and still love it like no other. I used to have a handful of foundations going at any one time, but I haven't purchased any since I purchased the La Mer. I've worked through the rest of my collection with the exception of the Armani Luminous Silk. I still have a full bottle in my drawer (a regular repurchase in the past), but I only use it on the rare occasion I wear foundation on a non work day. It always looks lovely, but doesn't make it through my 12 hour shifts the way the La Mer does. I can credit you for a lot of purchases on this list! Any idea what 'challenges' you might do this year?

You can get Cle de Peau at the Neiman Marcus at the Fashion Show Mall which is across the street from the Wynn. I think you can also get it at Saks which is there too.
So far I'm liking the Sisley one the most. And I've just discovered I like mixing the CDP and La Mer together - the CdP shade was too dark for me and the La Mer formula seemed drying looking on my skin. And the La Prairie is very nice, but I like the Sisley more.
I see that the Cle De Peau Primer has directions that say to use pre-primer or post foundation. I’ve often wondered what other correctors/concealers might look best when used unconventionally (for lack of a better word)?
I've found correctors (greens and purples) often look better under foundation or even under primer. And some brightening products I find often look better under foundation otherwise they're too obvious.
I wonder how this La Mer foundation compares to the Tom Ford liquid one. I love my TF I haven’t decide after so long if I really should buy the La Mer :(

So I have a question; why did you pick Medium in the Guerlain Meteorites? My skin color is much like yours and I would have thought I needed the fair. I went with the medium because it wasn't as cool-toned. My skin doesn't always do well with cool-toned products because they end up looking a little ashy. And since I was using the powder to buff out makeup like bronzer and blush, I thought I'd go with the medium. Thanks Deborah!
Curious to know since the La Mer foundation is your fave - how does it compare to the cle de peau foundation ($250)? ESP since you have dry skin, I’m surprised you didn’t choose the CDP (packaging aside since its in an inconvenient tub).
The la Mer coverage is fuller. It’s a medium where the cdp is a bit more sheer. I love the cdp foundation and it really is great for my dry skin but I didn’t wear it much in the summer because it is SO moisturizing. Otherwise I love it.

I suspect you'd be shade 15 in the Original Cream Foundation which unfortunately may have been discontinued now but was apparently quite magical on the skin like you describe the CDP - melded with skin, and got better looking throughout the day. Unfortunately I don't think the KA brush quite compares to the Sonia G. It's not nearly as soft and not as effective at buffing. Waiting for the Sonia G is the right move, and I don't think you'll regret it!
Hey Michele! I'm a big fan of the Tom Ford Traceless stick and was thinking about trying the liquid. Have you tried both the Traceless Perfecting Foundation and the Traceless Foundation? I saw that you only list the Traceless Perfecting in your shade match list. By the descriptions on Beautylish and Sephora, the Traceless Perfecting formula leaves a natural finish whereas the Traceless formula is radiant. We have similar skin issues and likes, so I was just wondering what your take was on both if you've tried them both.
Hi Cindy! I've only tried the Traceless Perfecting, and I like it a lot but not nearly as much as the La Mer liquid or TF stick. I'd really like to try the Traceless though!
@@TheMicheleWang Yeah, I'm kind of a sucker for a "radiant finish" which is why I wondered about the Traceless. I love the La Mer, but holy hell it took me a bit to get used to the smell! I actually haven't pulled the trigger on the Chanel Les Beiges Tint because I feel like you call out the scent on that more than the la mer. And I'm not even bothering with the new CT powder! That said, I do also like the CDP The Foundation, Chanel Sublimage Le Teint, and the Westman stick. It's not like I actually need another foundation...

If you use the Tatcha silk canvas, which is supposed to provide a barrier between skin and makeup, as a primer with La Mer foundations does the Tatcha primer block the skin care benefits of the La Mer?

My hair has definitely thinned since I was younger. And after trying several different things, the Sisley Revitalizing Fortifying Serum for Scalp has shown me the most results. I've been using it for almost a year, and am on my second bottle. I love it. I've seen such an improvement on the health of my hair, and on new growth.

I purchased the foundation a few months ago and I’m completely obsessed with it now, but I’m glad I was able to be shade matched because I would of picked the wrong one lol 😂 it’s hard to shade match online!
Sephora also has a shade match finder thing through there website where you can put in your current foundation brand and color and it will show you all your closest shade matches or exact matches in all the foundations sephora carries. So you could see what they suggest for La Mer there based on what you currently wear. Good Luck!

So far the Koh Gen Doh and Armani are working well. Thanks for the recommendation. My go to is the TF waterproof foundation concealer in the tube. I use very little, and it stays put.
I've heard great things about that TF foundation... may have to try that!

Thank you for this. Thorough as always. For me, this was the year of foundations. I narrowed things down quite a bit on what I actually like. I finally got around to trying the LaMer Soft Fluid foundation which jumped over all others to be my number 1. Koh Gen Do Aqua is my number 2. I also tried the LaMer Restorative Skin Tint. Used it 3x and immediately ordered a backup. Thank you for that one! Chantecaille Just Skin Tint is another favorite. For a powder foundation I like Koh Gen Do Glass Film and it doesn't make me look dry which is huge. For concealer I really like the Bare Minerals Barepro stick concealer. It is nice and creamy, doesn't drag or cake and gives the right amount of coverage for me. For the rest of the categories I don't have THE one yet. Working on it though. Love your eye look today. So pretty.

I always take the tatcha and I break it down in my hand then add just a small pump of another primer like Fenty or Stila. Then I put it on it take the blurring effect to whole other level.

Hi Michele, I am glad to see that you feel better. Your videos are priceless, the most amazing descriptions of products. I love all of them. Totally agree with some of your favorites such as the La Mer Foundation that I bought because of you, the Tom Ford stick, the Sisley tinted, Charlotte Tilbury pressed powder and the meteorites with the Sonia g face one. For me I would like to add another stick that I bought this year and love it, by Terry nude expert duo that is half foundation and half highlighter, very creamy and with a beautiful finish, also La Mer reparative skintint ( bought based on your reviews too), Sensai glowing base as a primer, I have been using a lot and I love it with La Mer foundation and the new Charlotte loose powder, I still prefer my La Mer loose powder but I find that I love the finish of these despite the smell ( I know you don’t like it at all😊). I need that Cle de Peau though!
Regarding concealers i think that my favorite is still The Retoucher from Charlotte, I have some others, including the Cle de Peau radiant but for any reason I think the retoucher applies more evenly on me. Thanks once again for sharing your favorites 😘😘

I thought too, that La Mer, Clé de Peau The foundation, Orchidée Impériale cream foundation and etc.. is very natural looking foundations. But after I tryed Kanebo Impress Granmula Foundation, I understood, that only this foundation can win first place in foundation battle with whom the skin looks naturally beautifull. In spite of, that this foundation is hard to put on, is not on speaking terms with most of make up bases, I give him the first place. I would be interested in knowing what do You think of this foundation. I this that You will be interested in this fondation, because its texture and finish is non comparable with other fountadions that is on the market.

Do you like the la mer powder or only prefer the pressed?
I'm on my third bottle of the La Mer Soft Fluid and still love it like no other. I used to have a handful of foundations going at any one time, but I haven't purchased any since I purchased the La Mer. I've worked through the rest of my collection with the exception of the Armani Luminous Silk. I still have a full bottle in my drawer (a regular repurchase in the past), but I only use it on the rare occasion I wear foundation on a non work day. It always looks lovely, but doesn't make it through my 12 hour shifts the way the La Mer does. I can credit you for a lot of purchases on this list! Any idea what 'challenges' you might do this year?

You can get Cle de Peau at the Neiman Marcus at the Fashion Show Mall which is across the street from the Wynn. I think you can also get it at Saks which is there too.

So far I'm liking the Sisley one the most. And I've just discovered I like mixing the CDP and La Mer together - the CdP shade was too dark for me and the La Mer formula seemed drying looking on my skin. And the La Prairie is very nice, but I like the Sisley more.

I see that the Cle De Peau Primer has directions that say to use pre-primer or post foundation. I’ve often wondered what other correctors/concealers might look best when used unconventionally (for lack of a better word)?
I've found correctors (greens and purples) often look better under foundation or even under primer. And some brightening products I find often look better under foundation otherwise they're too obvious.
I wonder how this La Mer foundation compares to the Tom Ford liquid one. I love my TF I haven’t decide after so long if I really should buy the La Mer :(
TF has two, and I've only tried the Perfecting one. I like the finish of La Mer more. It's a touch more radiant.

So I have a question; why did you pick Medium in the Guerlain Meteorites? My skin color is much like yours and I would have thought I needed the fair. I went with the medium because it wasn't as cool-toned. My skin doesn't always do well with cool-toned products because they end up looking a little ashy. And since I was using the powder to buff out makeup like bronzer and blush, I thought I'd go with the medium. Thanks Deborah!

Curious to know since the La Mer foundation is your fave - how does it compare to the cle de peau foundation ($250)? ESP since you have dry skin, I’m surprised you didn’t choose the CDP (packaging aside since its in an inconvenient tub).
The la Mer coverage is fuller. It’s a medium where the cdp is a bit more sheer. I love the cdp foundation and it really is great for my dry skin but I didn’t wear it much in the summer because it is SO moisturizing. Otherwise I love it.

Unfortunately I don't think the KA brush quite compares to the Sonia G. It's not nearly as soft and not as effective at buffing. Waiting for the Sonia G is the right move, and I don't think you'll regret it!
Hey Michele! I'm a big fan of the Tom Ford Traceless stick and was thinking about trying the liquid. Have you tried both the Traceless Perfecting Foundation and the Traceless Foundation? I saw that you only list the Traceless Perfecting in your shade match list. By the descriptions on Beautylish and Sephora, the Traceless Perfecting formula leaves a natural finish whereas the Traceless formula is radiant. We have similar skin issues and likes, so I was just wondering what your take was on both if you've tried them both.
Hi Cindy! I've only tried the Traceless Perfecting, and I like it a lot but not nearly as much as the La Mer liquid or TF stick. I'd really like to try the Traceless though!
@@TheMicheleWang Yeah, I'm kind of a sucker for a "radiant finish" which is why I wondered about the Traceless. I love the La Mer, but holy hell it took me a bit to get used to the smell! I actually haven't pulled the trigger on the Chanel Les Beiges Tint because I feel like you call out the scent on that more than the la mer. And I'm not even bothering with the new CT powder! That said, I do also like the CDP The Foundation, Chanel Sublimage Le Teint, and the Westman stick. It's not like I actually need another foundation...

If you use the Tatcha silk canvas, which is supposed to provide a barrier between skin and makeup, as a primer with La Mer foundations does the Tatcha primer block the skin care benefits of the La Mer?

My hair has definitely thinned since I was younger. And after trying several different things, the Sisley Revitalizing Fortifying Serum for Scalp has shown me the most results. I've been using it for almost a year, and am on my second bottle. I love it. I've seen such an improvement on the health of my hair, and on new growth.

I purchased the foundation a few months ago and I’m completely obsessed with it now, but I’m glad I was able to be shade matched because I would of picked the wrong one lol 😂 it’s hard to shade match online!
Sephora also has a shade match finder thing through there website where you can put in your current foundation brand and color and it will show you all your closest shade matches or exact matches in all the foundations sephora carries. So you could see what they suggest for La Mer there based on what you currently wear. Good Luck!
