When you thought you only needed primer + foundation + concealer + eye makeup + makeup mover 🙃 but then there's more 🙃 makeup is too overwhelming for beginners
Indeed. Thats why as a beginner myself i start small. I focus on my eyes first bc thats one slevific area where aside fr eyeshadow(which, u can still do very simply btw), is very easy to do a beginner's step by step process. That way i dont have to think abt EVERYTHING. Specifically im targeting the under eye portion of my eyes. One bc of my eyebags, and two, its still the eyes, but i can start small and go up fr there^^
This was PERFECT!! I have been so confused about setting powders and finishing powders, and when to apply them, how to apply them, which powder brands to use and what brushes. This presentation could not be more thorough. Thank you so much even though I am late to the party ;) you posted this a year ago and I am just now coming across it. I am so happy I found it!
Best presentation and description yet of the difference between the two. You are a great recent discovery since I watched the collaboration with Cate the Great. Thanks!
I think everyone should go to a Laura Mercier counter to experience their setting technique it truly gives you the most flawless velvety finish😍which is why I use setting powder. I think a setting powder should have some oil absorbing quality so it “sets”. A setting powder shouldn’t sit on top of your makeup which why I dislike silica powders(RCMA, by Terry, rms, NARS, mufe HD powder) as an oily skin type. And if I feel very extra I’ll set the center of my face with a matte powder, put Charlottes presses powder on the outter parts so it helps my bronzer to blend.
Michele you are so classy I love your style and taste in makeup and looks, such a classy beauty. Am glad you are doing this video because I was so confused about powders and how to use both. Thanks for the explanation.
Thanks for this video & looking forward to your favorite setting and finishing powders. I just recently started using them and have found that at my age, 56, you have to be careful of which ones you choose or you will look cakey and dry.
Hi, Michelle. I'm new to your channel and so glad that I found you and this video in particular. I've always wondered the difference in the two powders, if one was better than the other and if both are needed. Thank you for this outstanding information! You're a pleasure to watch and I look forward to more of your videos. - xx, Carla
Thank you so much for sharing your video! I’m 58 years old and just yesterday found out there was a difference between setting powder and finishing powder 🤯 I watched Stephanie Marie’s videos and my mind was blown. So then I saw your video come up. So happy for hearing your information 😊👍
Thank You Michele!! I thoroughly enjoy you & your Channel. I am so glad I found you, you are such an inspiration to me & you are a wonderful educator not to mention your inner & outer beauty. I am close to your age & I am trying to get back on track with my makeup "game". Life can be so challenging & after 2 major back surgeries & having a baby @ 42 that was a surprise, miracle, & a Blessing & I am Lucky to have my healthy beautiful little girl. During that time I lost myself when I learned & realized her father was a true sociopath & after enduring much abuse I knew I had to save myself & my baby at a minor cost of finally leaving... he made sure to destroy everything I owned. As I am slowly recovering my makeup collection I have found you to be a Great Guide in not only doing my makeup properly & also choosing useful makeup & tools. I find you to be an Awesome Artist with a Sweet Personality & Intelligence. Thank You SOOO Much for your inspiration & Guiding me. I am buying the Sonia G. Pro while they have it. I am excited to get her brushes & grateful I am inspired to enjoy makeup again, I hope to feel pretty. Your Video's are so very helpful. Keep up the Great Work!!
Thank you taking out your time post this video makeup powders tips how use setting powders came across your video by accident I’m glad I did how use powder for dry skin like myself this video very helpful for dry skin ppl
Such a great and helpful breakdown of the difference between Setting powders vs. Finishing Powders. There are so many options available that it can get pretty overwhelming. Thank you for this video, Michele! 🙌
Loved this video Michele thank you so much for going into so much detail. Even for us beauty enthusiasts who do these steps everyday it’s nice to have a refresh and especially what powders and brushes work best. Really looking forward to your setting powder week now as I still don’t think I’ve found my holy grail powder yet and I’ve tried a lot!! Finishing powders is something I incorporated into my routine since watching you and your channel and wow what a difference it makes to the finished look! Even better now that I got my hands on Sonia’s Face One brush it’s just so beautiful and gives that airbrushed look xxx
i love powders ! it’s good to hear your version because i belong to the category who likes a velvet finish. i use a real techniques brush to stamp powder onto my face, and then a zoeva big fluffy airy brush to sweep. or i’ll just use a powder puff, depending on the powder i’m using. i’ll then add on the other products to create dimension - blush, highlighter, bronzer.. speaking of blush : you have been having the most amazing blushes recently - i love this one on you too !!!!! 💗
I found this video super helpful. Sephora did one a couple of years back on the difference between setting and finishing powders and that wasn't nearly as clearly explained. Right now I'm using my hourglass Trio for finishing powders. But I really appreciated you showing your Technique, I'm going to try the pouncing and then buffing technique today rather than just the sweeping motion I've been using.
I learned so much about powders (and picked up some favorites) last summer watching your series on powders. Thank you for revisiting and adding to that research blast!
I have a very dry mature skin. I used to use powder foundations in my twenty’s. Now it’s a no-no! Now I apply Chanel powder on my t zone only and I carry the new Chantecaille powder in Crystal line just in case I want to touch up during the day. It seems to work.
I just bought the Sonia G face one brush when it came back in stock, and I’m really enjoying it. I mainly bought it for buffing with my Hourglass Dim Light, but it would be fantastic for powder foundation. 🥰
I LOVE this video! Thank you so much! I found that I was applying the wrong powder and using the wrong technique for years, but thanks to you I fixed my errors!
really nice video.. I really like the way you apply make up for the everyday woman. It is perfect. I love the candleglow by Laura Mercier and the Hourglass.... I used to have very oily skin but as I have gotten older my skin is not dry but certainly not oily. I can NEVER use luminous foundations.. they look a MESS on my skin and enlarge my pores.. so being able to add the luminosity with a "finishing" powder.. once I understood and discovered them has been wonderful!
Hi....the fact that you are not a makeup artist makes you so much relatable...I have a question.. what do you like more as a finishing powder- the meteorites or the Givenchy prism libre? Thanks
Great, informative video! I've been meaning to tell you that, back when Sephora had their "sale", I had things In my cart which I completely dumped after watching your video. I bought the Gucci brow pencil - WOW! and the CT under eye compact based on your recommendation. Love both! Great channel!
I feel the same about setting sprays. I don’t like the feeling. I use Mac Fix Plus and Omorovizca mostly to add some hydration to my extremely dry skin 💗
I’m so glad that you did this. I have this question to you or our family here. What is a great brightening powder for under eyes ??? Love you michele !! I LOVE THAT YOU ARE REAL. always better. AND YOUR SKIN IS FLAWLESS. HELLO !!! Ha ha
Such a great video that puts it all together! I also purchased the KGD powder, meteorites and waited months for the Face One brush to come back in stock and I love them. Any tip on getting out the KGD powder, love the CDP powder with the net on top, I seem to get the KGD everywhere if I do not use the buff. Thanks💐
Ok,it's early,I'm on my first cup of coffee and I heard you say pouncing, and I can't stop laughing, don't know why 😂 great, info here, can't wait for Tuesday 😘
Thank you for this video. Very helpful. I am of similar age and skin type to you so have been watching a number of your videos for tips and suggestions. I've brought a few products from your recommendations.looking forward to the next video.
Hi! I’m new to your vlog. Enjoying it so much. I have a question out of left field for you. You have the most amazing, beautiful hands. I work in healthcare, so my hands are 10 years older than the rest of me, from constant hand washing. Is there any particular product or regime you use? Hope you do, so I can have hope.
The Hourglass loose powder works beautifully but I want to try that Koh Gen Do. I love their liquid foundation I go through it like water. I’m spamming you sorry 🤣
Love this video. Very informative. Thank you for taking the time to be amazing 😍. What do you think about using the La Mer brush powder for setting or finishing. I love the Sonia G Face one but I love to use this one with my Hourglass ambient lighting edit palette.
Good explanation of the difference between the two. Curious to know if you have tried the KGD face powder and what the difference is between the face powder and the natural lighting powder.
I’m new to your channel and love it so much. Your cheekbones are amazing and I love your style. I found this video helpful. I love powders but I’m probably the only person on the planet who doesn’t love Guerlain meteorites. I have them and want to love them! What I do love is the Givenchy prism libre powders, I have pastel mousseline and the rose/pink one. Both are fabulous! I love your channel because I love luxury, but lately I’m experiencing a pain in my wallet! 😊😊😊
You're not the only one!while I dont hate them I dont think the results justify the price. And you're able to finish better effect with cheaper products
Hi Michele! Setting powder was a step I had omitted until recently. I actually studied a prior video of yours where you talked about them. I know your favorite 😉! Although I didn’t get that one I ended up getting the Ko gen do, Chanel and by Terry. I know you were not that crazy about the last one, I was intrigued by your reaction to how it covered pores. ( I use that one with caution only in the nose and cheek area though) I even got the Chikuhodo Z1 for setting and SoniaG Face 1 for finishing a couple months ago when Beautylish got a few in! My question is about finishing spray. Do you use it and if so do you spray after the finishing powder? I have been doing that but I feel I lose the effect. My skin is how you describe yours to be btw and I use the meteorites for finishing as well. 🌺
Ahhh....finally...now I get it! Thanks so much for doing this video! There are so many powders out there now, it is hard to even know which one is for what!...and the names don’t help. Example: mineral veil powder...ok...so what is that for - 😂
I have a mature very dry skin. I normally use cream foundation only. Do I skip the setting powder and jump straight to finishing powder? Appreciate your thought.
Hello, does anyone know if Michele had an update (I may have missed it) on the new/re-done Sonia G brushes? I wanted to pick up the old fan brush but was waiting to hear her thoughts on the replacement that's out now. Thank you!
Would the chikuhodo z1 brush be similar to the limited edition chikuhodo one you use for setting powder? And would that koh gen do natural radiance powder be ok for fair skin? I thought I read somewhere that it oxides orange.
Hi!! Can you please tell me what brush brand/type you used to place your setting powder on @10:21 ?? I can’t seem to find it in the drop-down and it’s not the buffing brush. Thankyou!

I think you'll enjoy the CT powder - it's very very fine. You may also like the Sisley pressed powder or the Dior Diorskin Mineral pressed powder. I have used T. LeClerc in the past, and these other powders I find to be even more invisible on the skin!

Very informative! This video has made the most sense out of any setting/finishing powder video I've ever seen. Thank you!
You're a terrific teacher. Really appreciate this content. Thank you.

Love the Guerlain pearls too thanks for ur sharing
Hey Michele❣️
I’ve been looking for this kind of video. I thought you or Mel had already done a dedicated one but I couldn’t find it. Thank you ☺️

Great ..loved it..you are a make up artist..

I am here because of Jen Luvs Reviews
I'm fairly new to makeup and I was wondering what exactly transition shades are for? Have you covered this in a video already?
Beautiful x you do have gorgeous skin
This is great I never use powder other than hourglass because I’m a disaster and my skin is very dry 👀 🤣 love you ❤️
Can you use the same powder for setting and finishing?
Thank you!!
Would Bobbi brown’s powder compact with 6 color blocks be a finishing powder?
Hello, does anyone know if Michele had an update (I may have missed it) on the new/re-done Sonia G brushes? I wanted to pick up the old fan brush but was waiting to hear her thoughts on the replacement that's out now. Thank you!
Hi I was wondering whether or not you recommend synthetic brushes?
Is it okay if I apply setting powder onto eye makeup like eyeliner? Will my eyeliner fade away? Please reply
You can, but it may make more sense to add some powder eyeshadow onto eyeliner to make it last longer.
Would the chikuhodo z1 brush be similar to the limited edition chikuhodo one you use for setting powder? And would that koh gen do natural radiance powder be ok for fair skin? I thought I read somewhere that it oxides orange.
Do you use the Chanel Poudre Universelle as a setting or finishing? Or both?
Hi!! Can you please tell me what brush brand/type you used to place your setting powder on @10:21 ??
I can’t seem to find it in the drop-down and it’s not the buffing brush. Thankyou!
you look so good! new subbie here 😍😍😍
Hello. I'm new to this channel.
I realize this is an older video but I'm curious if you've ever tried the powders from the french brand Tleclerc. I used their pressed powder years back and I always liked it. I still have a old compact that at this point I should probably just get rid of. Their powders have rice starch in them and apparently that tends to be much less cakey than talc, although it does contain some talc. I'm debating if I should give the Charlotte Tilbury a chance or just order the TLeclerc because no store Carries it anymore. Barneys did at one time.
I'd like to point out that I also have dry skin and I did not like the Laura Mercier loose powder. It looked very drying in certain areas of my face.
I think you'll enjoy the CT powder - it's very very fine. You may also like the Sisley pressed powder or the Dior Diorskin Mineral pressed powder. I have used T. LeClerc in the past, and these other powders I find to be even more invisible on the skin!
@@TheMicheleWang thank you so much! I will try the Charlotte Tilbury.
Thank you it was helpful and it's something that I'm going to take into account appreciate it my name is Betty have a good one.
Hi Mitchell, do you ever use Hourglass Ambient Powders? Xoxo roseingeorgia author of A Mothers Love by Bettyrose Woody
And also if you own any MAC brushes
You look stunning for your age, I'm 35 and you look more youthful and radiant than I do in my best day plus I'm have a darker complexion of a mixed race it makes me really excited to get older knowing I can look as great as you. I hope you understand what I meant and dnt take any offense
I wanna look like this at 45
45?! Oh my Jesus! You don’t look it at all!!!!
45?? 45??? Forty-actual-five???? Wowee!! You look at least 10 years younger, I’d say! #gobsmacked
You are more informative than any make up artist. However you use such an EXPENSIVE products you are breaking my budget 😅😅😅 you are dangerous to watch
