the last idea is essential, the player actually needs to know that somebody understands what he is playing is heard and appreciated, that his sound or instrument is no swallowed by the whole, that somebody is kindly expecting him to play as well as possible because the contribution of the player remains essential regardless of how big the orchester is. I never understood that aspect of conducting before, but the last bit of the interview makes it clear. It seems he is saying that the first quality of the conductor is the "love" and attention he has for each layer/instrument/singer. At least it is how I understood and forwarstood it.
You know what would really show us how they actually works? Get one of the musicians to explain what they see in a conductor, in a short 2 minutes video
I prefer using the expression of the hands rather than using the baton. Good video! You made me think of how to interact with the musicians a lot better.
Cool but there is a mystification about the hands' movements in conducting, as if the conductor's body and eyes language were not as important as the rest...
He made his description so abstract that there's really no useful information to be gleaned. It sounds impressive, but so does meaningless tech jargon when similarly spewed forth to fill the available time. I'd love an actual description of specifically what he's doing and why, if only so I can properly appreciate (or not appreciate) the complexity of his art
I love the animation so we could see the trail his baton left, also his experience of how paying attention to specific sounds instantly enhances them.

To be honest conducting would be so much more cooler if we could see those little trails.
thank you
Still mystified but watching the illustration is calming. Though I can’t say I understand anything the music director is saying
Great Vid....still absolutely mystified
Ye, this mystified conducting even more for me
Please! Is possible to legend this video. Thanks!
Nice video. But conducting also has the important non verbal expression with eyes or vision for a better cognitive science of music to work on

Groovy man….yeah ……deep …….far out dude……wowwwww
You ever just vibe check a whole orchestra?

Very not boring.
I just don't see the point of a conductor, show us actually how does the musician interpret the movement
Bugs bunny was better
Underwhelming
so basically you do nothing -_-
You don't get a doctorate in it for nothing...
A lot of dancing, not much conducting.
