I loved these interior sub models as a kid. Unfortunately as a kid I didn't have the skill to do them well. It's very satisfying seeing the incredible work you've done on this.
fascinating to see how different modellers approach problems . I haven't bought this kit , as I may not live long enough to build it! Very complex, and attention to detail pays dividends . Lighting is crucial . Clear bodies are notoriously awkward to fit and secure without damaging the overall effect with glue going everywhere! Well done .
You do a great job building this model ! The only thing I missed in your videos is how you cut out the holes in the hull. I am building this nearly perfect model, too and right now I am standig at the decision how to open those holes. I really like to watch you build this model and I also made a journey to LABOE near KIEL (Germany) where the last Type VII/c submarine (U-995) can be visited as a museum. Go on with your very helpful videos !!!
Dirk Simons I decided not to cut the holes in the end but to paint the clear hull and leave parts of it clear so you can see inside That’s going to be shown in the next video
Subs use red lights at night. Then only in the operation compartments. They run white lights in the engine room & torpedo rooms. Super model. Love those interior compartments. So much fun in each section. Good job. Red keeps eyes accustom to peering into darkness at periscope depth. Or running on the surface.
I greatly enjoy just watching such videos as this, even beyond learning how to do such work. Where can one find the other presentations in the sequence?
Well I've tried to resist it but it's official I now want one. I blame you Ted haha Seriously though thanks for doing this build and allowing us to follow along. I have so many ideas for this kit and can't wait to get started on one.
Based almost entirely on watching your build videos, I had to go out and find this kit for myself. Lucky there was one at a local shop and it's now sitting in my dining room, waiting for me to get started. I hope I can do it half the justice you've managed.
We're sure you 'll do just fine, remember to post up pics to our website gallery when you have finished! Also, you do know we are a retailer, and we have that in stock..? Could have saved yourself a trip to the shops ^_^ www.emodels.co.uk/trumpeter-1-48-dkm-u-boat-type-viic-u-552-wwii-06801.html
@@emodelsuk Your online shop was the first place I looked, but as I'm in Canada I don't think I could have sat still waiting for it to get here. :) There's also the issue that we never know if border services is going to hold it hostage for duties and taxes or just let it straight through for delivery (had it go both ways in the past). I'll be sure and post photos once I get going on the build.
WoWzers!!!! Mind Blown!!! Awesome!!! made for a nice break from chores and my sh*tkit build. Great Job very very Impressive!!!! Thanks for the continued inspiration. Cheers
Amazing job here, really coming together nicely. I know what you mean about Jennifer being snowed under, I’ve been talking to her about lighting my Queen Mary 2 - she has projects that’ll take her through to the spring. Must be due to the free advertising you gave her a few parts ago.
That's amazing! So big scale and body to demonstrate how U -boat operations! But where you place? What's up used electricity lights if you made this why you made some sound effects with electronic components!
Looking good ted... due to start mine this year thinking about doing the clear as cut out sections to avoid light reflection when lit up.. be interested to see how you finish yours..
Would love to hear a 'lessons learned' on this. My kit is on the shelf. Considering ditching the clear plastic altogether, and go the cutout rout. Shame that Trumpeter screwed the pooch by putting the clear on the wrong side of the conning tower. That had to have been an error. Would love to hear the real story there.
The main complaint I have with this kit, and it's not a minor one, is that the cutaway on the conning tower is on the opposite side. That doesn't allow to showcase a solid port side unless you just sacrifice the port cutaway and paint over the clear side panel . Don't know what they were thinking, but that was a bad move. At least give us an option
Only in the short time before surfacing at night to get the watch officers' eyes used to the dark conditions quicker, and only in the section beneath the conning tower.
@@sopwithpuppy Typically a few red lights are used as 'standing lights" in berthing areas to allow men move about and dress without waking everyone with white lights

Great work, fantastic. Im building 1/72 VIIC Revell kit, its big but your kit takes the biscuit. Top notch.

Fantastique montage qui permet de voir "en gros" les aménagements intérieurs du 7 C...Félicitations !!
If this is the one you had on display at you shop in stoke, the size on the video it doesn't do it justice it's huge but it's beautiful, great work.🙌👍
Like the led lighting Ted ,nice job .
Wow amazing job...can't wait to see completed...would love to build this...love building ships working on 1\350 Tamiya Bismarck....

Carl Whitfield I had considered cut outs but I’m not going down that route
@@skippertedwill be great to see yours all lit ... and look forward to your future builds
OMG it's so awesome! In this scale..just WOOOWW!
Looking great Ted,just how long is this thing?
I can see this being my next build now
wow how cool, wish i could afford this kit

Each time I check out one of these model videos my wallet mysteriously becomes lighter.
Totally awesome! How many hours?
This is massive to my 1.48 patrol boat
Lovely job as normal
Beautiful and great to make learning for students how are interest Navi I am interested if it is available in market
mega good work
awesome job !!!! thanks so much !
been here since the first episode!!
I am waiting for the 1/32 version ...
You must have a lot of space mister.
Lol

How much does that kit cost and where can you order it nice job!
Cindy Sue I got this from Emodels.co.uk
4:25 In the German Navy he's called "Smut", "Smutje" or "Schmutt".
Fantastic---although I'd leave the transparent plastic off to see all the work even better.
Don’t you need a special glue for the clear parts so it doesn’t fog up?
Awesome!
Brilliant.
Love
I have the foward torpedo tube assembly and deck guns done. Almost finished. Al.ost ha e the forward living quarters/torpedo room done.
Amazing!!!!
Needs a sound module that plays the “tipperrerym” song ala Das Boot / and the das boot title music
or maybe some random Morse code?
I would also add some background noise crew conversations from the original das boot also 🤓
42:08 Insert obligatory "that's what she said" joke here.
Is the boat not finished yet, or am I too stupid to find the next video?
Next episode is due!
FUTURE FLOOR POLISH ON THE PLASTIC TRANSPARENT COVER MAKE IT MORE TRANSLUCENT?
Is there a part 11?
Отлично!!!!!
Is there an update to U552?Thanks,Alan
Ted has sadly had very little free time over the last few months, but is currently working on the next episode :)
warning to headphone users....turn them down for the intro
Shouldn't you represent the full crew. Subs were tight and crowded in WWII. 160-man crew

Good point, but that is in control room and cunning tower.
No. not everytime
this background music sounds like 20th century porn music.
LOL he forgot to switch off the computer off screen :P
Could have shown the finished model a bit more
Il costo è dov trovarlo
Excellent job on a very poor model considering the scale and the price. Thanks.
