Hi max! I have always loved waking up and seeing a new video every once in a while, and it has inspired me over time and I even got into building scale models. I really hope you continue to make these works of art. I had a suggestion for a kit you could build. My local hobby store had an A-10 Thunderbolt C kit and I got it. It was an absolute blast and it was super detailed and soooo fun to build. I thought that I would tell you it was only $40 and came with nice rubber tires, four different decal options and a very well made kit. It is HobbyBoss brand and I enjoyed it and if you build it I hope you enjoy it too. Thanks for reading this far if you did and keep building!
Hi meganmurphy7671, glad you got started and that you're enjoying the hobby. Thanks for the review on the A-10C kit -- I didn't know HB had updated it, but the contents look nice and at a very good price. On another note: I hope to have a new video out in 2-3 weeks. Cheers! 😎
@@MaxAfterburner if you build it it comes with 4 different schemes two heritage planes, a black snakes (163rd squadron out of Fort Wayne, Indiana I got to go there and see an air show two years ago and saw the actual plane) and a regular a-10 paint scheme. @@MaxAfterburner Im glad the logo is to your liking - I was actually messing with another design the other day at work on my lunch. Ill shoot you an email tomorrow when I get a chance. Oh and I just ordered the Eduard precut set for the Academy B model. After re-watching the video I thought it best for my sanity to go this route at 1/72 scale 😆
Wow, been waiting long to see a new masterpiece from you! I am a fan of F-35. I only saw this model set without painting in an exhibition once. Actually the Trumpeter factory is nor far away from where I live. But I seldom purchase a Trumpeter set because sometimes many details are missing in Trumpeter sets. But the price of Trumpeter sets are so tempting.
That’s my wife’s first squadron, back when it was VF-101 (“no bloody A, B, C, or D!” Who knows where that came from?) and flew the greatest fighter of all time, the amazing and wonderful F-14 Tomcat. She then served in VF-32 while I was a Pukin Dog with VF-143. I miss those ladies (the Tomcats).
I needed a Max-Afterburner fix, and this delivered, in spades. Over here, next to JRB Carswell NAS Dallas as I am, there are more than a few Charlies about. I also know both Airedales and LMM personnel, too. How LMM let them pick the name of the fighter with the _least_ amount "joint service" use still amazes me. The maintainers, both white & brown shirt, really hate the lack of red outlines on the kakajillion doors these beasts have. Apparently, it's entirely appropriate for one of the three l/g to get a thin red wash for "prototype" appearance. It still looks, though, (barring decals) the 1/48 Tamiya kit is a touch better. But, at 1/32 trumpy is the option. Great job on the difficult paint scheme these birds need.
oh wow awesome work on the jet good to see your back at the bench again like always keep them coming sorry for all your loses on your lil fur babies its not easy i knw
@@MaxAfterburner I feel your loss! He looks like a sweetheart. I'm sure he had a happy life and wouldn't have ever wanted to be with anyone else. God bless!
Hi, really like your videos! I think once I heard you mention about "deconstructing" a model. Is that possible, and how would you proceed? I was thinking of removing decals, changing paint scheme, ect. I think some parts may have to be removed...thanks. Also, how to strip the Tamiya paint??
Hi Plydrms, I don't recall ever mentioning deconstruction, but if Tamiya acrylics were used, soaking them in a Windex type fluid would help make stripping the paint away much easier.
Hi Phillip, oh, I see. I'm always thinking in terms of low visibility markings. I keep hearing about Tamiya, so I wasn't aware of the Kittyhawk edition. As far as another F-35 build, it would be a few projects down the road...
Hi maxfartuhov, glad you enjoyed the video. This Trumpeter F-35C model is actually 225% (2.25x) larger than the Hasegawa 1/72 scale F-35 models. The detail is good, but the kit you may want to purchase comes down to how much time and money you want to spend on such a build.
@@MaxAfterburner and I guess it is bigger than Tamiya 61124 Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning 1/48? but I could not find the info about how much they differ in terms of detail.
The Tamiya F-35A kit is better detailed, but it is smaller at 1/48 scale than the 1/32 Trumpeter. Also, the Tamiya would be smaller even at the same scale because the actual "A" Lightning II is not as big as the F-35C variant.
Dear friend, I have a question: how many psi do you use in your airbrush to paint with tamiya paint? And how many passes does it give when painting after priming (xf-69)? (I have passed more than two coats and the paint has become very clear)....How I can avoid this? Regards!!!
Hi strikeeagle7, I usually keep the the compressor set to a 22psi output. I get that question a lot so I post an inset image of the compressor gauge on the first airbrush session in each of my videos now. Depending on the color of your paint coat over the XF-69 and/or the dilution ratio of the paint may be factors. The final result of the look I want on my model can affect how many passes it will take to achieve the desired appearance. If I want a completely solid color on the model, it will take ~ 4 coats. 🧐
@@MaxAfterburner thanks dear friend, i´m made an f/a-18e and it seems to clear...i will put a new darker coat to fix this problem. i´m using 18psi. do you think is ok? or 22 is a good mark? regards!!
@@MaxAfterburner That would make for a really interesting build, Tom. You very rarely see models of the Space Shuttle. I remember back in the early eighties, the idea of the Space Shuttle was so exciting. And now it has passed into history.
Hi randycheow4268, there's a company called Orange Hobby that has already released the "C" in 1/72 scale. I believe Italeri is also releasing the F-35C in that scale soon as well.
4:53 That was not an accident, that was the first experiment to see if the Fat Amy can double also as submarine :) ... Such experiments are often carried out, sometime friends help you in such regards... Japan helped US and UK and vice-versa, UK and US helped Germany and vice-versa during WW2 and more recently Ukraine helped Russia in experimenting with the submarine capabilities of a cruiser... and for all intents and purposes the experiment was a success, the guided missile cruiser Moskva is now, officially a submarine... Granted is doubt about its abilities to ever surface, but who knows :))))

Hi Armour Empire, thanks much! 😊
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh!!Coooome on!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks, sergionano4 😉😉😉
Its a FANTASTIC KIT AND....A FANTASTIC MODELER😉😉😉
Lovely work bro
Hey nigelsmith7366, thanks so much! 😊
That nickname “battle penguin” seems more appropriate for the A and B models with their shorter wingspan.
🐧
Awesome job 🙌
Hi kevinmartins5588, thank you so much! 😄
@@MaxAfterburner question for you, what are your thoughts on iwata hpcs?
simply amazing
Hello again, Maxtherocketguy -- thanks for watching this one and glad you liked it! 😄
대박! Excellent 👍.
정말 고마워요!
great work👍
Thank you so much 😀
That’s my wife’s first squadron, back when it was VF-101 (“no bloody A, B, C, or D!” Who knows where that came from?) and flew the greatest fighter of all time, the amazing and wonderful F-14 Tomcat. She then served in VF-32 while I was a Pukin Dog with VF-143.
I miss those ladies (the Tomcats).
Hi LTCDRRAZOR, the Tomcat is sorely missed by so many and remains a popular subject to this day. 😎
@@MaxAfterburner ANYTIME BABY!!!
WOW!~you back!
Hi McLaren-Hobby, 😉
Hi CAPNMAC82, glad to hear from you again and that you enjoyed the video! 🤩
oh wow awesome work on the jet good to see your back at the bench again like always keep them coming sorry for all your loses on your lil fur babies its not easy i knw
Hi model tank guy, great to see a post from you again! Thanks for your kind thoughts 👍
@@MaxAfterburner yea i was on a lil break but im bach at the bench again
You're back! I was just wondering a few days ago when you would post again
And here it is, Charlie 🤣
RIP Brutus. I'm sure you were a good boy.
Thanks, mixererunio 🙂
So very sorry to hear of the sad loss of Brutus.
Thanks, darkknight1340 . Such a tragic event to befall such a sweet fellow. It's unbelievable. I miss that doggie. 💔
Looks cool. 👍
Thanks, Go For It Painting 😄
R.I.P. Brutus! A good dog (Child) is loved by all!
Hi PCJ3 40, Brutus was so good natured, he didn't have a mean bone in his body 😢. Dogs rule. Thanks 🙂
@@MaxAfterburner I feel your loss! He looks like a sweetheart. I'm sure he had a happy life and wouldn't have ever wanted to be with anyone else. God bless!
You are alive! Also first time I read the Battle Penguin nickname, I can see why though given the shape of the nose and body.
Hi FirstDagger, that's a good point. I hadn't quite noticed that until you mentioned the "penguin" looking shape. 🧐
Ok, thank you.@@MaxAfterburner
Nice! Nice! Nice!
Hi Nikolay, thank you and cheers!
Wish they would have done the full color markings. But hey it looks great.
For sure, Phillip. I think I would have definitely gone with the RAM decals had they been provided! Glad you liked the outcome! 😃
@@MaxAfterburner
I mean the KittyHawk 1/48 scale has full color. Also are you planning on building the F-35A and F-35B in 1/32 scale??
Hi Phillip, oh, I see. I'm always thinking in terms of low visibility markings. I keep hearing about Tamiya, so I wasn't aware of the Kittyhawk edition. As far as another F-35 build, it would be a few projects down the road...
Great video. Well done! Fat Amy can always use some love....and so can we all. Hopefully there are better times ahead for you as well.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Showww.

oh yeah it's time to get RELAXED
edit: aww no not the dogs.... :( I'm so sorry to hear that
Haha, love the comment! Thanks, Kimarykor Lumiose 🥳
Cool introduction and video. It looks like it is bigger than Hasegawa? How is it in terms of detail? I was wondering what kit to buy?
Also, the Tamiya would be smaller even at the same scale because the actual "A" Lightning II is not as big as the F-35C variant.
ok. thank you. anyway, I should buy both kits.@@MaxAfterburner
wake up babe, new max afterburner!
Haha, love it! Thanks, 0EvilLemons0 ! 😍
I know you’ve already done the hasegawa super hornet but I’d love to see you do a meng super hornet and compare them
Hi BrokenRecord11943, I've been wanting to do a Hornet in an aggressor camouflage scheme... 🤔
As for Italeri kit which one is better?
Hi 郭逸雄, I haven't had any exposure to the Italeri kit, so I couldn't offer an honest opinion. 🤔
@@MaxAfterburner Thank you
Dear friend, I have a question:
how many psi do you use in your airbrush to paint with tamiya paint?
@@MaxAfterburner thanks dear friend, i´m made an f/a-18e and it seems to clear...i will put a new darker coat to fix this problem. i´m using 18psi. do you think is ok? or 22 is a good mark?
regards!!
18 psi is probably just as good, I don't think it will make that much of a difference.
@@MaxAfterburner thanks , i will try
Can you please make a USN Blue Angel F/A-18 Superhornet or USAF Thunderbird F-16
Hi MasonsFavs7, those might be too clean and pretty for me to do on this channel 😉
@@MaxAfterburner that’s true lol
Could you do a the Space shuttle?
Hi alexviper9773, possibly. I was a big space shuttle fan back in the day and built many models of the craft.
@@MaxAfterburner That would make for a really interesting build, Tom. You very rarely see models of the Space Shuttle. I remember back in the early eighties, the idea of the Space Shuttle was so exciting. And now it has passed into history.
@@MaxAfterburner awesome! Can’t wait to hear your decision!
One major detail you got wrong is the forward main landing gear doors. They only open during gear movement or retraction
Yes, I know. These were left open to make the bays more viewable as well as the tail hook being deployed.
Deeply sorry about Brutus.
:(
Thanks, DN Models. If it wasn't for the horrible and cruel hand of Fate, Mooch and Brutus would still be here.
how many centimeters lenght and wingspan ?
Hi FlyWithYusuf, the length is shown as 49.5cm and a full wingspan at 41.37cm 📏
@MaxAfterburner I ordered today, I will have it completed within 1 week, the video was very informative, thank you.
Still waiting for a 1/72 F-35C
When f35 coming for landing, The left rear landing gear seems messed up. You can see the aircraft pull to the left.
Ah, interesting. You have better eyes than mine. 🧐
RIP Brutus 😢
Hi micoskywalker8889, thanks for Brutus. His loss was so random and shocking 😥
@@MaxAfterburner I lost my dog (my daughter) a while back, buried her myself and promised to never have another dog again hence I simply got carried away with memories while commenting and just forgot to mention how incredible and motivating your scale modeling videos are. I’m so happy to come across your vids. You got a subscriber all the way from overseas.
No worries, and so sorry for your loss. Glad you like the videos and welcome aboard 🙂
Why a 1/32 this ti-
Oh, right. There are no F-35C kits available in 1/72 and 1/48 scales yet.
italeri is supposedly making a 1/72 f-35c but yeah i’ve been trying to find one for a while too
You may want to edit the over comments..
The UK operates F-35B.. not the C...
Hi ed w, yeah someone has already caught that. I forgot to take the "C" off in the text.
Why are you audio recording yourself while showering 😅
The best acoustics are in there 😉
I work on the real thing on the production line in final assembly. Hope this kit goes together a lot better than the real thing. It's a mismanaged program badly designed pig of a plane.
Hi montylc2001, the F-35 doesn't seem to be a very popular jet in many respects 🐖. It's certainly one of my worst performing videos too. 🤨
@@MaxAfterburner I think it's a case of "jack of all trades master of none" as far this aircraft is concerned Tom. Also being somewhat awkward in appearance doesn't help.
Heeey what dafuck the kit IS almost done from the very box and the modeler just glue some parts and paint
