+Baleur Before Spore was released, i was so excited to play it, so dreamed of a game similar to No Man's Sky, i had my own spaceship and could visit alien planets. Now this comes out ! :)
magma2680 True, but i mean the exploration aspect. The creature creation was amazing in spore, but what i really looked forward to was the enormous galaxy exploration of unique planets and creatures. That is something NMS seems to be doing much much better. If only there was a mode to play as a creature in NMS ;)
+jim jay Since they said it will be very unlikely for you to find other players and every planet will be different, I guess whatever notes you or someone takes will only be usefull to the writter, wich could be fun if we have an Item that allow us to writte on it, thus someone could writte their story and things they've found interesting.
Taking into account the scale of this game, how easy/difficult is for you guys to cover No Man's Sky in comparison to other games? (I wish it lives up to the hype, I am loving it so far)
+MrTheGori What difficult is how tricky it is to understand it (even though it's really simple in some ways). It's so big, the scale is so huge that it's really difficult to wrap your head around it. I mean, as gamers we've explored hundreds of different universes and planets but never before has anyone simply said 'explore the universe' and actually meant it! - Hollie
Take my love. Take My land. Take me where I cannot Stand. I don't Care, I'm still free. You can't take the sky from me... "Ballad of the Serenity"- Sonny Rhodes.
+roflguy 114 If youliked firely (not only are you an exceptable human being) youll like the game rebel galaxy an eeensy bit more than no mans sky because of the soundtrack that you can change
+Daniel S After the game comes out is accurate and is what Sean Murray wants. He doesn't want to spoil the game or ruin the experience. There is nothing fishy here. He wants you to experience the game fully without much spoilers. What we know about the game is probably 20% of what the game actually has to offer. Think of it like a movie. If I were to tell you everything that happened, or showed the entire plot in a trailer, then it won't be as surprising/cool as going in blind. Look at Cloverfield Lane as an example.
+Open Your Mind ~ playing elite opened my mind to the possibilities of games. Still waiting for a 'holodeck' though - where you just invent your own games within any scenario or setting you can imagine . . .
Thank you so much for taking the time to share with us more about how the game works and what it will be like to play it. Have been scouring the internet for more info and like you said a lot of it so far has been the "wow" factor and not much detail on how it will actually feel to be there. Thank you guys so much! This really helps.
I loved when he asked if the planets are actually planet sized, then laughed at the answer. It's just mind boggling how the developers, made this game, litteraly universe sized. It really is hard to wrap my head around this Game. When this game comes out, I will be on a 6-month deployment. But I love the fact that when I get back to play this game, I can still have an experience that no one in the world has ever had in this game. It's just crazy, I can't wait to find my first undiscovered planet and name it :)
Just think about it: when you buy a 'normal' game, you go into it expecting to spend a few weeks or months until you've completed the game. You've done all the missions, found all the collectibles, seen every nook and cranny of the world/levels. Now, it's perfectly valid to keep playing the game long after completion, or to not bother trying to do everything there is to do. What I like so much about NMS is that there will ALWAYS be things you haven't seen. Sure, after some time the procedural generation can and probably will become a little bit samey, and you'll start to encounter the same types of animals and similar planets, but there will ALWAYS be places no one has ever seen before. To me, that's a tremendously exciting prospect!
+Lennart N Yeah, the only thing I am afraid of is that after a while we may run out of animals to discover and instead be left with the same animals but with different names. I think they should hire a huge amount of designers and coders and grant the first 1k players their own specific animals/plants and then those plants and animals would get traded all over the galaxy. That way, you would have a complex system and later on, the coders can add more animal types.
still over 3 months away. and all this talk of lore and learning alian languages is so exciting idk if I can wait that long. it just keeps sounding better and better.
This game is unlike any other game you will ever play. I been following NMS since 2013. As soon as I saw it get into the ship, take off, fly through the atmosphere and into space.... I was sold. Can't wait for June 21st!
Sounds absolutely amazing. :) The one thing I'm worried about is the save system you mentioned. With such a vast game being able to save anywhere at any time would seem a necessary inclusion. I really hope they don't make us hunt about for a save point every time we want to record our progress. I don't want to have to repeatedly sacrifice hours of play just because I had to go to work before I happened to find a save point.
I enjoy the way this video is done. Just telling a close friend about your experience with the game. Something just feels genuine about it and it's easy to follow.
I'm already sold on No Man's Sky, I couldn't care less about whether there is any 'game element' like so many people seem concerned about. The opportunity to explore an unfathomably large universe and discover marvels and wonders along the way is everything I could dream about. Those of us who buy and invest time in No Man's Sky will become pioneers, with the ability to discover worlds and locations that perhaps no other explorers have ever seen, or will ever visit. If that isn't enough for you, I don't know what is...
+MIR Looking at procedurally generated hills and... hills... and hills... and hills... yeah, sounds thrilling. And to think, I'll be the only person ever to see those hills!
Man, I was excited for this game from the beginning and learning about some more of the intricacies of the gameplay makes me want it so much more. SO excited for No Man's Sky!!
I will probably not buy another game ever again after getting this (until one even more in depth comes out). I've been waiting for a game like this since I started gaming
If this game wants to succeed, it is going to need a dedicated Co Op mode where you can grab some friends and explore together because I feel people are going to get bored just roaming around solo for the entire game. I wanna get this game but if I can't share my experience with friend/friends, then I don't think it'll be worth it.
I agree completely, by unfortunately with no in game map I think it is nearly impossible to be able to meet up with your friends. Maybe it will be fun solo but coop would seal the deal for me
The funny thing is this video made it click. I don't know I'm not a huge sci-fi fan. Fantasy stuff like Dragon Age Inquisition was the things I liked. Never wanted to play Mass Effect. Don't know just not in to space games that much. And I've heard about No Man's Sky often in PS Access Videos but it was kind of subtext. But after this one I was so done. Now I'm hooked and can't wait to play it.
If I were to find a planet and give it a unique name, what's to stop my friend from just hyperspacing his way to my planet and us just hanging out on it like it's our home?
+iurhviusdfavhi So far even in the trailers we haven't seen a warp drive that is capable of going more than 2 star systems away. You can tell by the white line connecting only the 2 closest systems in any direction. You could still be 150,000,000,000 star systems away if you are both in the same galaxy. Even if he could jump 2 spaces every second with infinite fuel it would still take him over 2000 years to reach you. On top of that imagine if somebody dumped 500 billion marbles out in front of you and told you to find 1 specific marble. How would he ever find the planet you named on the map.
+young juice You can. One of the ways to escape extreme cold outside, for instance, is throwing a grenade on the ground. it might reveal a hole leading to underground catacombs or caverns where you can take shelter!
+WeeWeeJumbo same, i never buy into special/limited editions personally, but i've been looking forward to this game so much i was happy to pay the extra cash to help support the game and it's devs.
Wow! Finally a game where you can land on a planet and look at an observatory AND a monolith. I don't think I've ever been so excited in all my life...
I'd love to see some kind of pets in the game. Like you can tame a creature and have it follow you, name it, feed it, whatever. It'll get lonely out there. ;)
I mean yeah a few texture, But I think they're really just avoiding the fact that like grass for example will just be either, cyan, purple, or red like you could've went with unique foliage models but they chose not to evidently, im just sayin we wont be getting the diversity in planets that they promise.
+Shaun Clark Really recommend looking up the game and how the procedural math works in Wikipedia. Specifically, the superformula. If used in the game as advertised, it should be very diverse.
***** I understand that but when they were advertising it it was misleading because they made it seem like we were going to be able to do just about everything no mans sky is actually trying to do
I hope they put in some form of character customization. So when you start a new save you can pick from several masks, suits, etc. Then as the game progresses you find new types of customizations and maybe decals..... Just a thought......
+Daanish Altaf I'm also like that!! :) And adding to that, there is all of the other stuff to do. I estimate that I will starve to death after the first month of owning this game.
God I can't wait for this game. I pre-ordered the Limited Edition. Been waiting for this gmae since the late 80s, before I even knew I was. Having an infinite space exploration game... dream come true.
What? Should have been. Do you know how long a game takes to make? Gta 5 for example took 5-6 years while star citizen has been it the works for 3-4 years
This game is so special and independent and unique! I am so happy that Sean and his team had the balls and the courage and patience and the nerves to see it trough. I don't care what the majority expects from this game, I fully understand that this game is its own thing that might be different than anything the majority wants see. I will play it for what it is with no prejudice what so ever. I promise. Can't wait but if I have to wait longer than what they have promised It is perfectly fine too. So excited!!!
Finally something original! A game developer willing to take a risk! We need more of these kinds of games in the market. I remember the days when games were unbound by corporate greed. When they were not mostly just generic cookie cutters of themselves with a few different elements to make them "different." Sooooo much imagination. These are the kinds of games I have wanted to see for such a long time. To this game and many other originals to come. I applaud you and your team Sean!! :)
There are a vast number of planets which have been colonized by aliens. Aliens of which you'll be able to communicate with but only after acquiring knowledge of their language.
***** Indeed I think you are right. The clue for me comes from the fact that when the spacecraft comes to land on a planet it goes from the complete sphere of the planet in full view from space to landing on the surface in seconds. If you flew at that speed and came to land on earth the journey time from seeing the earth as a complete sphere to landing on the surface would take a loooong time.
This game draws a lot of parallels with Out There, like trying to reach a specific point in space, communicating with and understanding multiple alien races, mining resources, and finding new ships.
+nakedchickens I don't think it will be boring, but I love survival games. so we will see. I was mainly just pointing out the fact that this content is clearly not original
Uros L If you are familiar with Hello Games and have been following the game for a while then you know that they go dark for a while to work on the game. They do what they like and are not triple A.
Idea: Depending on how thick/thin the atmo is determines the rate/angle of descent. Could mean difference between going node first to an objective vs taking ship wear vs shallower angle and back tracking in atmo.
exactly my thoughts, like a game that can be really relaxing and also very intense at some moments. I think i`d look at a planet and slowly go down on it for the whole 20 minutes it takes without boost
before it was supposed to come out June 22nd but a legal case with the streaming company about the word sky delayed it. When I saw the date change I died inside.
Simon Ventnor I'm glad that will at least some black space, as not all space out there is saturated in all sorts of colours. Makes it feel a bit more realistic :)
Sean Murray (who wanted absolute realism) and his art director apparently argued over this. The art director wanted space to be beautiful, like it always is in 1980s sci-fi, and Sean had to agree for aesthetic reasons. But he also said that there are places in the universe that are just space, and that you could find them if you search. My guess is that you just have to try and fly to another solar system instead of warping, but be warned that that could potentially take a very long time (according to Sean, at least).
deathtoallidiots Bit of a shame, considering a lot of space (at least as we know it) is black. I'm sure that there are star systems up there which have all weird and wonderful colours. Just looks a little too saturated for my liking.
Yeah, I agree. When I actually saw this game for the first time, I was looking forward to getting lost in that darkness (I think it's called the "dead space"). Floating through rainbow coloured gaseous nebulae could also be fun, but it could also get a little hard on the eyes. I'm just happy that Sean did confirm that there would be dark corners in the game universe, just have to explore a little (which the game is kind of all about haha). We'll see when the game comes out, maybe we won't be disappointed at all and it will have something for everyone *fingers crossed*!
i don't know if any of you guys played "Out There" or"FTL" on android/ steam , but most of the gameplay mecanics i'm hearing in this vid clearly shows some inspiration from the devs. The whole langage learning from space monoliths, conversing and trading periodic elements with aliens, developing techs to access/mine specific types of planets , or warp drives
+Brendan Forish my mistake then, I actually didn't play FTL, just saw friends playing it... But if you try Out There, you'll probably see what I mean. Specifically the alien language mechanics, the random encounters/events in space with simple decision making and possible techs as reward.
A 3rd person perspective works, can be beneficial, and is sometimes needed in certain games but I do not believe NMS is one of them. This game seems to be all about immersion, like you're building your own story, crafting your own tale, and choosing whatever road to traverse that you want to in order to reach your final destination, which makes me feel like a 3rd person perspective might somewhat take away from that. Just some food for thought
+ShadowWarrior242 Exactly. Third person view is more for games where you have combat with multiple enemies at the same time, like assassins creed, or the Witcher 3.
+james wasda Not necessarily just for that reason alone but you are correct. Third person just gives you more awareness because you can see behind you and can see your character. In first person when you get attacked from behind or something interesting happens, it takes a couple seconds for you to turn around and assess the situation. The same could still be said in third person as well but you mostly just pan the camera around, so it's not really the same.
+Voodoo8648 this game can not be completed, you can go to the centre, but that's not completing the game, plus the guy got to the centre by using an exploit
I personally study astronomy my self at the university of Swinburne WA and woooowwww, some people think they're geniuses that know everything about space and its functions. I laugh at 95% of peoples comments thinking they know everything about the cosmos. That is what an astronomer is for you amateurs. I knew this would happen "Delusional twats". All I'm seeing is Amateurs arguing over the placement of Earths Atmosphere? Yes it is Bound together by the force of gravity becuase earths mass is pulling down the molecules such as nitrogin and oxygen which also contain mass. If earth were 10mm shorter in diameter the atmosphere would be higher in altitude due to the slight change in gravitional force bestowed upon the molecules in the atmosphere. You can figure this out your self using newtons gravitional force equation 'f=G*M1*M1/d^2". THE END.................. NO MORE ARGUING ABOUT STUFF YOU HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT. Have a good day :)
+AstroLAD don't correct someone else's grammar when you spelt Nitrogen wrong. You're right but no one on RUclips comments care, it's very cancerous down in the comments
This is what Spore should have been.

We should create a repository of information when the game comes out. I plan on filling a notebook of drawings and tid bits. So can't wait.

+TheCasualGamer $400 cant build an adequate gaming machine gotta have some drawbacks bud

This is also an indie game

would be really cool if you could burrow underground like minecraft and go down to the lava

+WeeWeeJumbo You can run, and you can build a jet pack! -Dave

+JayDawn That would be great!
yeah ill only see 0.01% of the game but i guarantee I'll see 100% of the textures that'll be on all the planets quite quickly.
+Shaun Clark you wont see all the planets. unless you play it for 5 billion years ofcourse
What I'm saying all the planets will eventually look similar because they only differ in color after awhile then it becomes monotonous.
Shaun Clark they do not only differ in colour. did you even watch the video?
I mean yeah a few texture, But I think they're really just avoiding the fact that like grass for example will just be either, cyan, purple, or red like you could've went with unique foliage models but they chose not to evidently, im just sayin we wont be getting the diversity in planets that they promise.
+Shaun Clark Really recommend looking up the game and how the procedural math works in Wikipedia. Specifically, the superformula. If used in the game as advertised, it should be very diverse.
You guys are the only youtubers I liked as much as to bother loging into google and subscribing to... Good job
This is what destiny should've been
^THIS!!!^
***** I understand that but when they were advertising it it was misleading because they made it seem like we were going to be able to do just about everything no mans sky is actually trying to do
This game is far from an fps.
I hope they put in some form of character customization. So when you start a new save you can pick from several masks, suits, etc. Then as the game progresses you find new types of customizations and maybe decals..... Just a thought......
am i the only who could have fun literally just looking at the planets and animals?
+Daanish Altaf I'm also like that!! :) And adding to that, there is all of the other stuff to do. I estimate that I will starve to death after the first month of owning this game.
Lol same
+james wasda loooooooooooooooooool me 2
+Daanish Altaf no when this game was revealed at vgx that was what everyone thought it was and I wanted it then
Cool i knew i couldnt be the only one
This is what ET on Atari should have been
Yes !! August 9, 2016 can't come fast enough.
This is what CS:GO should've been.
+LovableWierdo lol... what?????
Look in the comments
My biggest goal in the game will be to find my friend XD
God I can't wait for this game. I pre-ordered the Limited Edition. Been waiting for this gmae since the late 80s, before I even knew I was. Having an infinite space exploration game... dream come true.
1 more month baby!!!
2 more months baby!!!
it's 2 more months now FeelsBadMan
7 MORE DAYS BABY
+Smoosh Master 2 MORE DAYS BABY!
King Savage YESSS!!!
The popping is terrible, they really need to improve that or it will destroy all the immersion
The what?
+John Doe Texture popping, where the details dont appear
+John Doe The pop-in of the little terrain bits like grass. You can see it pop into existence at a certain distance when you move around.
+John Doe if you see stuff appearing from nowhere in the distance while moving well thats bad popping
I doubt it will be so bad on computer. Most of this footage was from PS4.
Congratulations on 1,000,000 Subribers guys!! you really deserve this!
This is what Star Citizen should have been.
star citizen looks way better in my opinion but looks realistic in comparison to this game
What? Should have been. Do you know how long a game takes to make? Gta 5 for example took 5-6 years while star citizen has been it the works for 3-4 years
And Gta 5 had nearly 4 times more money to work with
Dude chill you obviously don't get the meme. Read the other comments.
Star citizen is better than this trash
This is what Battlefield 5 should be like
Battlefield 1 is ww1 lol
+Dominic Oughton You dont know what sarcasm is, dont you?
This game is so special and independent and unique! I am so happy that Sean and his team had the balls and the courage and patience and the nerves to see it trough. I don't care what the majority expects from this game, I fully understand that this game is its own thing that might be different than anything the majority wants see. I will play it for what it is with no prejudice what so ever. I promise. Can't wait but if I have to wait longer than what they have promised It is perfectly fine too. So excited!!!
I know it's not that type of game but can you fight some of the aliens?
Yes
+JLfootball i think u can fight the ''police'' in the game :D
+JLfootball and kill the animals on the planet they might be hostile
Yes but it's illegal so the cops will hunt you
+Jia Zhe Lee well thats kinda gonna happen if u want to fight something :/
There are people who think maths isn´t an art form. I'd slap the with a copy of NMS, but it's too valuable to waste it like that.
+Diego Sheish Indeed. Just look at true fractals!
:)
it would be epic if some of the planets would have some alien cities :D
I think they do but it will be rare
they don't according to Sean. Each planet is suppose to feel Unexplored. No civilizations from my knowledge
There are a vast number of planets which have been colonized by aliens. Aliens of which you'll be able to communicate with but only after acquiring knowledge of their language.
This is what Star Wars battlefront should have been
That dive below the planet's atmosphere was beautiful
The planets don't look planet size. Perhaps our Moon size maybe.
+NO I'm sure not all planets have the same size
***** Indeed I think you are right. The clue for me comes from the fact that when the spacecraft comes to land on a planet it goes from the complete sphere of the planet in full view from space to landing on the surface in seconds. If you flew at that speed and came to land on earth the journey time from seeing the earth as a complete sphere to landing on the surface would take a loooong time.
+NO They are using a lot of older footage, but planets in the new footage look much bigger.
I can already sees this game flooding ebay after a month of released.
This game draws a lot of parallels with Out There, like trying to reach a specific point in space, communicating with and understanding multiple alien races, mining resources, and finding new ships.
+Vidman228Two considering that development of NMS started before Out There Its just coincidence. Also all space games are pretty much the same
this game makes me think of simulation theory
i need it
now
I really really hope this lives up to expectation! I can't help but be a bit skeptical though.
Seems like most of your commentary was pulled directly from various gameplay demos that Sean Murray has done with IGN.
That's what I was thinking
+nakedchickens I don't think it will be boring, but I love survival games. so we will see. I was mainly just pointing out the fact that this content is clearly not original
***** true that. Hopefully they will address that and allow for more natural landings. The concept of the game itself is what is most appealing to me
Seriously, we've all been so spoiled with action games. Seems nobody can appreciate games like these...
it's just that they are not showing much this close to release.....
+Uros L Because they are working on it maybe.
Lord Sir Crumpet but the game is releasing soon and we should have seen more gameplay until now
Uros L If you are familiar with Hello Games and have been following the game for a while then you know that they go dark for a while to work on the game. They do what they like and are not triple A.
+Lord Sir Crumpet well its not a good decision on their part
Idea: Depending on how thick/thin the atmo is determines the rate/angle of descent. Could mean difference between going node first to an objective vs taking ship wear vs shallower angle and back tracking in atmo.
OMFG I WANT TO PLAY THIS I WANT TO PLAY THIS SO BAD August 9th cant come fast enough. ("*Weaps*")
I knooowww It looks so relaxing and interesting
exactly my thoughts, like a game that can be really relaxing and also very intense at some moments.
I think i`d look at a planet and slowly go down on it for the whole 20 minutes it takes without boost
I know!!!!! I was so mad when they changed the release date😭😭😭😭
before it was supposed to come out June 22nd but a legal case with the streaming company about the word sky delayed it. When I saw the date change I died inside.
There's like 27 days to go now!
just take my money... Im going to have to quit my job...
kek
I can't quit, but I am gonna use some sick and vac days lol
+moety2 lol good luck!
moety2 claim extreme diarrhea. Boss wont question it if youre extremely frank about it.
Were you guys lying to us along with Hello Games??
The game we got is NOTHING like the trailers!
It would be cool to be like a bounty hunter
yeah they have potential to make a really good rpg
+ProbablyPublic Yep
I'll be the space mexican. He travels everywhere illegally. Nice idea eh?
With the right kind of DLC (gameplay and story expansion) updates, I can see this being one of the greatest games of all time.
Is there any black space in this game? Every video I have watched, it is full of saturated colours.
Yes, but they have been showing off the more colourful places they have found.
I can imagine this game getting boring pretty quick.
same ,so guna buy it
It's for people who have a lot of time and energy, not for people looking for a quick game to play.
+The silent you mean ppl who enjoy insignificant repetitive farming
xion yeah pretty much reallife then/
+The silent why would you wanna play a game version of "real life" it then
i don't know if any of you guys played "Out There" or"FTL" on android/ steam , but most of the gameplay mecanics i'm hearing in this vid clearly shows some inspiration from the devs. The whole langage learning from space monoliths, conversing and trading periodic elements with aliens, developing techs to access/mine specific types of planets , or warp drives
+Adrien Cyrus Moayer Ive played FTL and i havent really sense any resemblance
+Brendan Forish my mistake then, I actually didn't play FTL, just saw friends playing it... But if you try Out There, you'll probably see what I mean. Specifically the alien language mechanics, the random encounters/events in space with simple decision making and possible techs as reward.
id love a 3rd person view
Mystery*
+Chris Coyne I know but just for looking at your suit or ship , just for looks actually
This game is overhyped just like farming simulator 2006 club penguin edition
I love that you can see the moons, and other planets in the distance. It looks really cool.
+Noel Lönn you can watch all the trailers
hope my great great great.......grand children would be able to complete this -.- -_- :D wud b intresting
no it wouldnt
yea it wud
sorry mate our sun will burn out before anyone visits every planet in this game...
the games' been completed and it hasn't even released yet... way to go Sean
Have a good day :)
you do realize you writed that nonsense for nothing?
