🔔 Hi friends! One thing I forgot to mention in the video is that when you’re choosing a yarn, look for a wool or wool/acrylic blend (at least 50/50 if not higher wool content). Avoid 100% acrylic as acrylic does not stretch well or wick away moisture like wool does. Avoid one-ply yarns as these are too delicate to handle the hard-wearing nature of socks. Choose at least a 3-ply yarn. Ok end of lesson 😅 Happy knitting!
So I’m allergic to wool ( not just itchy have a full allergic rash that happens) so I can’t use any wool . Any three ply yarn is ok, is there any that you can recommend?
I'm so happy you've added a sock knitting tutorial! I started knitting 9 months ago and your channel was the best channel I came across. You are such a wonderful teacher. You essentially taught me how to knit. Thank you!! 😊
You’re so brave for sharing your story…I usually FFWD pass the imbedded ads, yours really connected with me because I too turned to crocheting and knitting to help soothe me but sometimes it’s not enough. Thank you for the recommendation and also I too have been waiting FOREVER for you to make a beginner sock video. I so love all your videos. And I bought the pattern. Thank you ❤🙏🏾🧶
Thank you for your kind words 🥹 I’m so glad you connected with what I’m saying. Knitting and crochet is so powerful but can’t replace talking with a real person. Wishing you all the best with sock knitting and beyond!
I have been knitting for many years, but am always looking for new patterns & stitches. Came across your videos when looking for a pattern for a twisted headband. After viewing some of your videos I absolutely love how easy it is to follow your instructions. You have made me excited to try new stitches & to love knitting again. Thank you!
Really good tutorial, thank you! I like your little drawn graphs to keep your rounds & rows straight. Excellent explanations, camera work and having the written instructions on screen helps keep things very clear.
I am so happy that you finally made a how to knit a sock video! I love how you explain things and socks have been my arch enemy when it comes to knitting. Thank you.
thank you so much for this!! ive never used DPNs or made socks and this is the only pattern/tutorial that has made socks seem achievable - only on the cuff but smooth sailing so far! never used any of these techniques and even just in this video theyre explained clearly enough for a beginnerish knitter!
@sheepandstitch absolutely! I tried to make more complicated knits last year but it was a little hard so I want to try something easier this year for the winter. Although last year was certainly an experience when I attempted to create a sweater only to make a piece of armour! 🤣
Hi, I just wanted to say that I learned to knit thanks to your tutorials and that I absolutely love them, you really are a gifted teacher! Would you consider making a tutorial for a newborn (or 0-3 months) hat? One might consider it really easy to knit, but, as a beginner, with double-pointed needles, sizing, decreases and so on, I'm going crazy! I would love to gift it to my future niece with a blanket (which is far easier and I'm already making) but I need help. Anyway, thank you so much for everything you do for the knitting community!
Love this video! You are the most thorough knitting instructor on the web. One question- I’m all thumbs with multiple DPNs - can circular be used for socks?
Thanks for your kind words! I think I wasn’t quite thorough enough which is why I added the pinned comment 🙈 anyway, yes you can use micro circular needles to knit these socks. When you get to the bit about needle 1, needle 2, needle 3, just use stitch markers to separate the stitches to demarcate which stitches are on which “needle.” Hope that makes sense!
I've been so curious about knitting some socks. Thank you so much! These socks are gonna be in my project list 😅❤ I've been knitting for one year. You have been so helpful in my journey. ❤❤❤
Hi! Check out this intro to DPN knitting: ruclips.net/video/s0LkNM2ojZA/видео.htmlsi=O9YgfmXsswqntN_z it might change your mind on their scariness level 😉
I got bad shoulder pain...while undergoing treatment. Please can you suggest what can help with my posture during knitting? Pillow? On a chair ..please help. 🎉🎉🎉thanks to you for teaching me knitting...love your work😊
Oohh that’s tough as I’m not a medical professional. When I get shoulder tension I take breaks with knitting and walk around and stretch before starting again. Being stationary in the same position is what kills my shoulders/traps
Haiii, i really like ur Tutorial, and its like you are my 1st Knit Guruu 😍. Would you consider to make Sweater and cardigan TUTORIAL for beginner like me? your tutorial really help me long through make my 1st blankets with moss pattern❤. pls make one Cardigan and Sweater tutorial because winter is coming and i really hope can make one to wear it 😍😍😍 thankk you
Hi! I’ve got a beginner sweater pattern called the Everyday Raglan. It’s a paid pattern, but includes over an hour of video tutorials that walks you through the whole knitting process. You can find it here 🙂 sheepandstitch.com/pattern/the-everyday-raglan-pattern/
Yup! You can use a micro circular or a long circular and knit magic loop. When I start dividing stitches into needle 1, needle 2, needle 3, use a stitch marker to separate the stitches
I would unravel back one row and two together to get rid of the extra stitch. Or if you’re a perfectionist, unravel to before the heel turn and redo it
Acrylic in socks is not a good choice. The sock won't last. Plus, it will feel yucky. Pick a 75% wool 25% nylon or an 80% wool, 20% nylon sock base. Of course, 100% wool with 4 plies works too. The ply of the yarn means your sock will wear better. Knitting it tighter, versus looser (gauge), also means better wear.
@@sheepandstitch hiii Davina! I wanna thank you! You teach so well, I’ve learned a lot watching your videos! The first piece I’ve ever made was the market bag by you! Thank you so much!

Hello from Swansea, Illinois.❤❤😊
Hi! 👋 ❤️
The unique sock measurement I got is 9 😢. Will the adult large size (8.3) still be comfortable to use or does it need to change?
Stick with large. The yarn will stretch to accommodate your foot 👍
I have 1 extra stitch after heel turn. What should i do
I would unravel back one row and two together to get rid of the extra stitch. Or if you’re a perfectionist, unravel to before the heel turn and redo it

Yup! All good points. The yarn I’m using is a wool/acrylic blend
