- How to change coolant air valve on Land Rover LR3. and Discovery 3.
Happened while driving, and by stopping in time saved the engine head gaskets.

👍👍you are more than welcome - and it’s such a cheap spare part that it not worth being stuck somewhere nor risking the head gaskets with a huge bill to follow. ;) remember to change it when engine is cold - it’s a lot easier 👍👍

They sell brass ones or stainless steel! They’re around like 50-60 bucks!

Thanks for commenting and watching, I am sorry to hear that, however to get some positive things out of the mishab I am carrying a spare in my glove compartment. Don’t think I will need it though. But just in case.

Personally I would have kept the copper piece in place. Far more reliable. My LR3 here in the United Kingdom does not have one fitted from the factory at all. Why the American variants has these I do not know.
Thanks for commenting 👍 yes that sounds strange, however I saved the copper piece, which might turn out to be an overkill since the new plastic piece probably will last a long time.

My 2006 American spec LR3 doesn’t have a bleed valve either. Any ideas on how to bleed the system without it? Just replaced my upper coolant hose and I think I may have air in the system.
@@s3hooligan no I don't unfortunately - I changed mine to be able to bleed it for air as well

This happened to me also
I am sorry to hear that, and it seems to be a weak point in the system. I hope nothing worse broke or went south as a result. I now carry an extra one just in case - might never need it though.
