- Over a period of time, the rubber hoses on your Land Rover will not only dry up externally, but also internally. The flow of coolant can actually wear them out and take material away. Therefore, we recommend replacing the coolant hoses every 105,000 miles.
Watch Doug, our Land Rover Master Technician, as he demonstrates an overview of the replacement of the custom-fit hoses for a 2005-2009 Land Rover LR3.
Using our Coolant Hose and Thermostat Kit # COOLKIT100, which includes all the hoses needed plus a new thermostat, it is recommended that this service be performed every 105,000 miles.

Can yall make a video on how to bleed the coolant system
WARNING: if you are planning on replacing ALL the coolant hoses, pay attention to the hose that has the bleeder screw on top of it. It attaches to the thermostat housing goes over the throttle body, and then dips out of sight into the intake manifold. The ONLY WAY to get to the end of that hose is to REMOVE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD! There is NO other way to access where this end attaches unless you remove the manifold plenum. There are 8 screws, 4 on each side of the manifold that need to come off. You also need to clear away a few electric connectors and vacuum lines to wiggle the plenum away from where it sits. The end of the hose connects under where the manifold sits which is the backside of the thermostat housing. Also plan on replacing the manifold gaskets once you remove it, because if they are old and fragile, and you bolt the manifold back on again, you may set off a vacuum leak check engine light. I found this out the hard way, so replace the gaskets before you bolt it all back.
Who would route a coolant hose to run UNDER the intake manifold except Land Rover?
you dont need to actually remove the manifold, just pop it up. But... Once you are here - thermostat housing and water pump also waiting for you and also a crossover pipes on throttle body...
good vids! thanks ...from Los Angeles...
Do you have a video or can you provide instructions on replacing the water outlet to cylinder head hose? Thank you
My 2008 LR3 definitely does not have a drain plug in the area described. I think the lower hose just needs to be removed to drain the system rather than a plug.
Sorry, you skipped the thermostat…..How do I change it
So… I would like to know how to change the Thermostat….you skilled that part
More information on the bleeding would be helpful. What about using the bleed cap on the plastic T junction on the small top hose under the plastic engine cover ? No mention of this in the workshop manual.
Did u figure it out no info anywere
I like you man. you teach very clearly. have a GRANDE day
where you can buy the players with the cable
Do you know where do they sell the lr3 tdv6 in the united states?
Please, what will cause the transmission fluid and the coolant to mix? I have like a moca color goo in the reservoir tank now. What parts do I need to replace? Thank you.
I would reach out to our tech support, they should be able to help you in greater detail.
Does the '08 LR3 4.4 V8 HSE have a second t-stat in one of the hoses also for the oil cooler mixing valve? Chasing a P0128 code and have seen some posts about a second t-stat in addition to the typical upper rad t-stat. Thanks in advance!
sorry, we're not aware of a second thermostat in the V8 LR3s...
Hi,
I would be pleased if you could give some advice.
I own a Renault megane break (very nice car). I've owned Land Rovers for about 30 years, made a stop (Renault) and now I plan to return to LR and thinking about a 2001 Disco TD5. I've eard so many bad things about this one that I'me very worried. What is your advice about?
Best regards and keep the good working
What would cause a 5.0 LR4 motor to leak coolant near the transmission on the driver’s side? When I put pressure on fill tank my LR4 pours out near the fire wall. No white smoke. Hoping it’s not head gaskets. What’s your thoughts?
It could be the heater lines back behind the engine as there are cross lines between the back of the engine and the firewall. You'll have to check those lines. We would recommend getting a boroscope to see back there if you can't reach it normally.
I have a 2012 Land Rover hse sport with coolant leak. Mechanic changed water pump but still leaking. Any suggestions? Maybe thermostats crack ?
Use a black light to look for spots under the hood where the coolant is leaking, coolant has fluorescein added to it to help with finding leaks.
Nice video.. if you can tell me if it's the top or the bottom hose that is coolant in or coolant out I'll sub..I'm not sure which way it flows
I wish ya where in Florida
Show how to properly purge the coolant system. Someone please help!!
Did u find s video
Completely ignored the existence of the Upper Vent Hose (aka: BY-pass hose, Hose Water Outlet To Cylinder Head, Original part #LR006158G) other than the honorable mention at 1:27/1:28. Trying to find out how horrible replacing this one will be... apparently a nightmare, which explains why it's barely mentioned. No one says anything about it.
Where does the hose lead to I had the T connector break and had to replace it now the part that leads under the intake feels loose I’m not sure if it’s disconnected or not I also got codes P0171 and P0174 come up
sorry but will be better to do video where you show how change and install thermostat lr3
💯💯👋🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧
They say they are going to show how to assemble the thermostat but then do not, ARRRGHH!!!!
ok, you just have to go to their site and find a different video for the thermostat.
Why don't you take the cover off so ppl know what the f*** you're talking about company man 🙄
