    Jane's husband writes: Excellent and succinct video. At least 3 other videos I watched recommended pulling fuse F26 to disable auto leveling. I think you are correct...fuse F3 is a 5amp which controls the exhaust valve whereas the 20amp fuse (F26) would likely control the compressor motor. I first pulled the F26 fuse to test and all 4 corners dropped the same amount, evenly, just as it did when the fuse was installed. Who believes in that many coincidences? I was thrilled to see your video and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens tomorrow now that I'm redoing the test minus fuse F3.

    Wrong about the front valve block function. There are 3 different valve blocks

      That's right,but if the front valve block has a problem then all 4 corners will go down due to the fact that the truck will try to level itself. My truck goes down on all four corners but more in the front so I'm changing the front valve block ($157) and see what happens. 2006 LR3 with 127k miles

      No, you cannot just pin the problem to the front valve block. Front block controls the front wheels, rear block controls the rear wheels. There is also a centre block, compressor, and air reservoir tank. Any one of those could cause problems. It is VERY rarely the struts that are the problem.
      Start with soap and water whilst the system is under pressure. This will only show external leaks. You could also be dealing with an internal leak (o-ring) which is much harder to pinpoint.
      If no external leaks, I would buy the oring kits for the valve blocks and redo all the orings. Kit for compressor overhaul also available for much less than a replacement.

    Smoke machines are great for finding leaks also, but if all you got is soap and water that works to. Thanks for posting.

    2006 LR3, 130,000mi
    I found a slight difference between the tests without pulling any fuses and tests with fuses pulled (no 26, no 3 and both 26 and 3 pulled). Note that my ride-height sensors don't appear to be correctly calibrated. At normal or extended height the right side of the vehicle is 3/4" to 1" lower than the right at the start of each test.
    Test 2 (fuses in): Test time 13 hrs: FL 1" drop; FR 1" drop; BL 0" drop; BR 1/2" drop
    Test 3 (no fuse 26): Test time 22 hrs: FL 1-5/8" drop; FR 2-3/8" drop; BL 1" drop; BR 2" drop
    Test 4 (no fuse 3): Test time 17.5 hrs: FL 1-1/4" drop; FR 2-1/4" drop; BL 3/8" drop; BR 1-3/8" drop
    Test 5 (no fuse 3, 26): Test time 24 hrs: FL 1-3/4" drop; FR 3" drop; BL 1/2" up; BR 3/8" drop
    After these tests, my local Meineke put it up on the lift, pulled the tires and spayed the connections and air shocks. I had done this with wheels on before, but neither of us observed any leaks.
    Here's what makes sense to me. It doesn't matter whether you pull F3, F26 or both. Both appear to prevent the "perfect" equalization of shock height by the front and rear valves. That doesn't mean, however, that a leaky front or rear valve can't also cause some amount of drop AND equalization between the two shocks controlled by the valve. I think that's what is happening in my case. Because I don't see any leak in my front air shocks I suspect the front drop on both sides is due to the valve. It's harder to see leaks in the rear shocks, but I believe there is also differential leaking in the rear valve.
    Also...in Test 5, the 3" front-right drop appears to have cause the back-left to lift when both fuses were removed. So maybe there is some simple pivot effect independent of the air pressure?
    So..here's what I'm going to do: Have Meineke remove the rear, center and front control valves. I'll replace the O-rings with a kit I bought on Amazon ($45). I bought a new cheap compressor (Dorman 949-900) at AutohausAZ ($555) and a new reservoir at oempartsonline ($320). Atlantic British sells a compressor installation kit for about $50. All prices included expedited shipping. I'll return the rebuilt control valves, compressor and reservoir to Meineke and then calibrate it with the GAP IID tool after they finish the install. Kinda of cheap-ass way of doing things when you don't have the tools or equipment, but that's how I roll.

    What if you have air suspension fault code and it wont even raise up period when you hit the "up" button? Just got my 2006 lr3 also btw. Sometimes the fault code will go off, and it does work (raise up and down). But usually the code is constantly on and does not work period. When it goes off temporarily it works just fine, but like I said only for a very short time.

      Awesome vid brian!!! I had a similar problem in a Mercedes S550. The rear right side would sag overnight. By spraying soap on the valve block I found it had a slow leak.... kicker is there was a TSB out that the issue is related to a mfg defect and the entire line from valve block to the rear strut had to be replaced. Not a fun job

    This is a great video. I tried this technique to get an idea if any of my air shocks were leaking. After leaving the fuse out over night, I was happy to see that the heights were the same. That said once I put the fuse back in I get a suspension fault that I didn't have before. Any thoughts on why that might be?

    The control valve in the front, controls the air pressure of the all sturts or only the front one????? Once the fuse is removed from the fuse box under the hood, the front and back were slammed to the ground meaning I have 4 worn struts...

    I dont think i have a leak .... as every other corner barring 1 are high after leaving over night . Would this mean changing the sensor ??? Cheers .

    There three air suspension pressure valves.

      AKA Distribution blocks. Front is easiest to get to, rear is a pain, middle is so so. Something I'm doing all at once is all three blocks plus replacing the dryer on my compressor. A faulty dryer on the compressor can cause issues with the blocks. Best to just knock em all out.

      Carlos Pereira What I see is you will have a leak and the pump will run all the time and cause it to burn out. Also you can blow the fuse.

      Sounds like the pump is not working . Do you hear it when you start your car ? If it runs non stop you have a major leak . If it does not run at all check fuses relay and pump

      @@claeshermanson3443 hello question for you, I hear mines run once in a while when I start the vehicle but it doesn't raise at all. Could it be the compressor going bad? I also have the 2 lights on in the dash with the roll over illuminated. The truck won't raise at all either..thanks

    Great. But wrong. The valve block on the front does the front. The rear valve block does the rear. So could he either. There are three on the systems
