    Great video and playing man I’ve got the 100 deluxe and it amazes me everytime I play it how much clarity there is and has me playing a lot more full chords in with my power chords just because of how great and full and clear it sounds. @@artsal I did try the BE Delux, but I haven't tried either of the Bogners that you mentioned. I really liked the BE Deluxe, but it was a bit raw sounding compared to the SS. The SS is smoother and I got along with that better. I also prefer simplicity with knobs/switches, and the SS has only 1 switch on the back; where the BE has like 5 on the back and more on the front. I like to plug in and play, and the SS sounds awesome no matter how you have the knobs set. The BE has a TON of tone shaping capabilities though, so there is that. It ultimately depends on what you like. Cheers!

    This is virtually the same set up I’m using amp into captor x into Apollo twin. What IRs you using? I’ve been using nothing but york audio IRs for a while now mostly use the Marshall mv30 pack and the Marshall m25 pack. Have a whole slew of em though and use various others at times. Those 2 packs though you can cover every basis with and sound amazing.

    Awesome tone. Mind sharing the settings for your captor? Which cab/mics/etc? I've got a Runt 50 that I use with a captor X and so far, the 412 Nuno cab is my favorite with the Ribbon 160 and Dyn 57 mics.

      Thanks dude! Your video of that Splawn Nitro from waaay back convinced me to pick up a Quick Rod. I recently sold it and instantly regretted it. I'll be getting another...
      Anywho, I was using imported IRs from ML Sound Labs Djent Cab Pack. I used a 57 E, and a 121 C. His IRs are super nice.

    • @FastRedPonyCar
      @FastRedPonyCar Год назад +1

      @@sir.shreddington Ah cool! Yeah I've had "Mufasa" forever. I've tossed around the idea of getting rid of it just because it's such an unwieldy monster on stage when I use a cab (which is rare these days) and the clean channel is pretty trash compared to the Runt and SLO. But legit nothing I've ever plugged into hits and punches with the clarity that the nitro has.
      Anyways, I've got Nolly's Cali IR pack but haven't installed it yet. I've also got the Ownhammer AFD pack too which is awesome but a bit overwhelming with all the IR's... they all start to sound similar and you get choice paralysis and I have to take a break for a while to let my ears reset.
      As much as I like the Captor, my biggest gripe is that I can't split the two mic's hard L and R the way I do when recording with real mics. My L6 Stomp HX can split L and R if you load an IR block into separate L and R signals which then lets you also apply stereo effects, separate EQ'ing on both IR block, etc but the feel and sound quality of using IR's in the Stomp (compared to the Captor) just isn't nearly as good but you do get that stereo flexibility.

      @sir.shreddington  Год назад

      @@FastRedPonyCar Yeah dude, keep it! Splawn are severely underrated amps, and the current price point is fantastic considering most high end manufacturers are in the $3.5k+ range.
      I'd like to check out some of the GGD cab sims, but yeah I feel you with being overwhelmed with choice. I usually test them on my fm3, since it's a quick process on that piece, then import my favs into the Captor X.
      Honestly, hard panning functionality would be a really good idea for them to add to the software. It seems like it would be something that a lot of people want.

    Excellent video. TWO QUESTIONS:
    (1) does the footswitch enable switching between all three channels? I see that it only has two switches, one for boost and one for channel - so how can one channel switch toggle between three channels? That doesn't sound promising. It seems like it ought to have 3 switches, one for each channel, that turn on that channel and then turns off the other two. That way, any one channel can instantly be switched to without having to walk up to the amp and take your hands off the guitar to do the switching. If not, is there some kind of solution or workaround?
    (2) How does this compare to the SLO-30? If you had to have only one of those 2 (SS-100v2, or SLO-30), which would you choose and why?

    • @sir.shreddington
      @sir.shreddington  Год назад +1

      Hey thanks Rob!
      1) The foot switch does enable switching between all three. The buttons are labeled "clean" and "boost." Clean will toggle between one of the gain channels (the one you are on) and the clean channel, and the boost toggles between SS and SS+ channels.
      2) If money was no issue- the Friedman. I think the SLO 100 and Friedman are more of an apples to apples scenario since they are in the same price point, but for the sake of your question I'll stick to the 30.
      You can get really good sounds out of both amps for sure. Different flavors, but still awesome. If nothing else it's the flexibility of the friedman that get's me. You can switch between all the channels in a live situation, where with the 30 you can only switch between normal and OD channels. So you have to choose between either clean, or crunch for one channel. Although crunch does clean up nicely with the volume pot on your guitar, and is a really beautiful and dynamic channel.
      On the Friedman, the SS and SS+ have their own volume which gives you a lot of flexibility. You can create a volume boost situation for solos or any other part that requires an increase in volume- perfect for a live situation. On the SLO 30, you'd need like a clean db boost pedal to give you that jump in volume for leads or whatever.

      Yeah dude! I tried both and went with the SS. Both are similar amps, and give you that classic Friedman/Marshall sound. The BE DLX has a ton of tone shaping options, and sounds a bit more raw. The SS100 is smoother, but can still get super gainey if you want. The SS also has a fantastic clean channel that stays pristine. Both amps have the same control layout. You can check out some of my newer SS100 videos if you want to hear more- fwiw I've gotten better at capturing the awesomeness of this amp!

    • @sir.shreddington
      @sir.shreddington  24 дня назад

      The SS sounds darker overall, but that’s just because of the sweep curve on the presence control. The sweep increases exponentially at about 2-3 o’clock, I think it’s similar to a vintage taper pot on a guitar. So If you want that bright Marshall sound just keep the presence around there. They are both super similar amps, but the BE DLX has all the bells and whistles.
