The production quality of this review is through the roof, so many parts just put a big ol smile on my face! And here i was expecting a run of the mill review, I love it, so well made :D!
I just find it hilarious that a company that started off selling motorcycle gear is putting out better motorcycle content and reviews than companies that have been doing NOTHING but motorcycle reviews since their inception (MCN, I'm looking at you).
I'm considering switching up from my ZX6R to the XSR900. I love the retro look, the comfort of upright seating and a little more power. I'm pretty sure I could ride this bike, look good doing it but also still kick some ass in the corners.
I've said it with every video, you guys make the BEST reviews online, from product info, to editing, to camera work, all of it is great. So fun to watch, and very informative!
When I saw your first bike review on the Scout I thought it was awesome. Best bike review I had watched. I've enjoyed all subsequent reviews as well. However, this one blows them away. I loved this. the format, the review itself, the humor, all of it. More of this PLEASE!
Keep these coming! I got my XSR about 3 weeks ago. I love it. Yesterday someone stopped to look at it and called it a "real work for art". I'm nowhere near a racer type rider, but I will take this on the track for the thrill of it. Soon.
Best motorcycle reviews on youtube. So nice to have some people reviewing who dont pull punches and offer non-bs reviews. Most reviewers just straight read off of a spec sheet it seems. Great work as usual. Also the cinematography is fantastic, very dynamic.
2 of the best reviewers on the internet.... or anywhere...period. I dont even own a motorcycle anymore but can , and do, watch RevZilla reviews for hours....
1966muskie Check out Power Drift, out of India. Those guys are doing some great things, too! The more people we have like Lemmy and Spurg, and our friends over at Power Drift, the stronger the world of motorcycling becomes. It's a great time to be a fan of two wheels!
Outstanding! Review wise, video wise and even business wise! I can feel the passion you have for what you do. I'm a videographer too and you guys are making me think to move to Philly and be part of this awesomeness. Keep in motion!
This is the first video I've instinctively hit the thumbs up on. Great mix of comedy and information. Also the two presenters have really great synergy which makes it feel like you are standing there talking with them, rather than them reading off a script to you.
I love the intro scene. Nice nod to the Good Fellas continuous scene flow. :) You guys have a very talented team out. Dope production as usual! 👏🏽 Oh yeah, love the XSR900! Totally my style of a bike.
I really have to give Revzilla props for work they put into every video. They are fantastic. I'm sure most of the guys looking at this video chuckled when Lemmy threw his hair back after removing his helmet; then he ditched Spurge! Funny as hell.
Definitely my favorite review from revzilla I have seen. maybe crossed the corny-ness line just a hair a couple of time but that's fine. I happen to be in the market for an xsr900 after having been commuting on my fz07 the last year and half about. very cool guys keep it up.
Spurg has some sweet moves!!! Lem is my inspiration!! Thanks guys for the quality reviews with great comedic effect. You two are like the Top Gear (Old British) of motorcycles!!! thanks!!!
As an XSR900 rider, I'm looking forward to the parts video! Also, I'm glad the bike is getting good reviews. I almost bought an FZ-09, untill I saw the first pics of the XSR, which seemed like it was right up my alley; coming from a '73 XS650, the XSR seemed like an obvious choice. I'm really liking what you guys do, Keep up the good work!
Do you still like the xsr900? I too am coming from 5 years with a xs 650 (1981) and really like this bike. Seems like they keep getting nicer each year.
I'm only halfway in and I'm thinking what happened to revzilla now in 2022 , these guys have great chemistry and look like they are real friends amazing vid and informative too. not arguing no banter no awkward trying to make it work for the camera buddy buddy stuff ...
Top notch review guys! I love my XSR900! Only my second bike I've ever owned and I upgraded from a ninja 300. Fun little bike but the power wasn't there. I have to admit, the power of the XSR was a bit getting used to but thankfully the traction control, rider modes and ABS technology are there to save my ass! 😂
I just linked to revzilla by accident... funny review... very knowledgeable... everything you ever wanted to know about the bike... haven't seen a equipment review from ya'll yet, but you convinced me to subscribe... thumbs way up
Just scanned the comments and so many beat me to the punch re: prod-qual. "Bears" repeating...kick ass job. Loved the casual yet professional presentation and interaction between the two of you. Saint's a fan. Cheers! PS Wasn't gone on the aesthetics of the X9 originally, but it's grown on me as something truly unique and stylin'. Took a Z9 out for a test spin and love the motor; hated the seat.
Damn it men!! This video is so fucking awesome, funny and entertaining at the same time that I can only say "CONGRATULATIONS TO EACH MEMBER OF THE REVZILLA TEAM!!" AMAZING JOB!! Thumbs up for the fantastic video quality and keep up the unbelievable reviews you are making these days. From Villa Dolores - Córdoba - Argentina
Another great review that deserves an essay so here I go. To me the XSR would have been a great bike with a 900 to 1700cc twin. I have a Bulldog BT1100 that I am selling now, my brother bought the latest version of the MT-01 a while ago. When I look at these three bikes BT1100, MT-01 and XSR I cannot help but think there is always something major missing that Yamaha never quite got right. In terms of quality materials for me it is: 1/ BT 2/ XSR 3/ MT-01 In terms of quality assembly it is: 1/ MT-01 2/ BT 3/ XSR In terms of engine vs riding experience and by a mile: 1/ MT-01 2/ XSR 3/ BT In terms of fun factor: 1/ MT-01 2/ BT 3/ XSR In terms of overall design: 1/ BT 2/ MT-01 3/ XSR I know it is completely subjective but here is the thing, by putting together the BT in their Belgarda factory in Italy, Yamaha managed to design the most Italian of their bikes. The BT is that one Yamaha that will get both bikers and non bikers to look in your direction. It is a beauty. On the + side of the BT: the size of the tank 20l, the equipment which is absolutely top notch from the solid neo-retro looking dashboard that turn blue when the night is falling to the crank shaft, not forgetting the massive beautiful tubular framing, the R1 brakes, everything on the BT is quality built, there is hardly any plastics. On the - side: the engine, it is a great looking engine, it delivers the full HP and torque early on so a lot more fun to ride than sports bike oriented journalists gave it credit for BUT it was admittedly an ageing technology, no fuel injection, etc. The BT is like the XT660, you look at the bike and it is love at first sight then you realize the engine is 20 years old. Still both have great personalities. With the MT-01, Yamaha for me did the most daring design move within the 2000s era. Too daring some may say since the bike barely sold in Europe and probably elsewhere. There is not a bike that is or has been as daring as the MT-01 ever since. On the + side of the MT-01: the engine, that 1700cc engine is a beast and yet Yamaha managed to make it all fit nicely in a roadster body with tremendous riding abilities, put it simply the MT-01 would not let you down, it was a very well thought bike, and that Twin... I wish Yamaha had been that daring ever since. On the - side: quality wise it is a downgrade of the BT. There is a lot of cheap plastics going on, the fuel tank is ridiculously small and the crank shaft has gone to be replaced by a chain. Nothing wrong with that it still is a fantastic ride if you commute in the city. If you take it for the long haul which the engine (and comfort) would suggest, you just had to be prepared to stop every 200ks and refuel. On the fun factor alone, this bike has humongous personality. With the XSR900, Yamaha clearly explores the neo-retro genre which I really like. The odd thing though is that not only Yamaha was late compared with other manufacturer,s it still feels like they rushed in to create this XSR. On the + side of the XSR: the versatility of the engine, the design. On the - side: the versatility of the engine, the design. The bike borrows from the MT-03 but it never look like much thought was put into it. I love the tank and the seat and that's about it. The headlight feels out of place, shape, size, the engine is absolutely horrendous with a filter box protruding at the front, some parts of the bike feels of quality, others feel extremely cheap, it is a patchwork of a bike. To me this bike does not have the personality of the competition. As I said it feels like Yamaha rushed in with an unfinished product when the neo-retro war was already won by others. The engine for me is really badly put together, and in a market where tri-cylinder are a British thing, I really wish Yamaha had stuck to a good twin. So, when I look at these three bikes, I cannot help but think Yamaha never managed to carry through what they had right in the first place. The frame, chassis and quality build of the BT with the engine and fun of the MT-01 and... the seat and tank of the XSR :-D To me the XSR is a bike with an identity crisis. The XSR is clearly a Street Fighter and yet it gives you hint at a classic heritage which does not really show on the road. Yamaha could have smashed a Fazer engine in there, the result would not have been very much different. I reckon a V or an L twin would have been a far better choice. And this is Yamaha for you: they are capable of dropping the stunning engine that was on the MT-01 while maintaining a 20 years old Rotax on other models. Yamaha is like a teenager with an identity crisis, I mean look at the latest MT-09, it just does not know what it wants to be. Give the BT/MT-01/XSR to those Italians of Belgarda and I am sure Yamaha would have a proper neo-retro worth considering.
I’m fresh to motorcycling and would LOVE this bike. My first bike is an ‘80 XS850 midnight special and I absolutely LOVE its performance and handling 🙏🏼 Being that I bought it non-running and got her up 🔥
I have ridden both and I do agree that when it cames to the performance and handling of the 2 the XSR 900 is much better. I'm in the Market for a new bike and the XSR 900 is currently in my top 3. Thanks for another great review guys! Cheers,
Im a begginer and I’ll get myself that bike or the Z900rs caffe! I don’t feel like upgrading 2-3 bikes to the bike I want since the XSR has a B mode in witch you can learn power delivery and when you switch back to normal you’ll have a better understanding of how it’s a wild bike and you’ll learn to be more gentle on the throttle or you’ll crash if you are a hot head that’s about it. And That’s the golden advice to every goddamn bike... no such thing as a “beginner bike”... 4 of my friends started on a 1000cc and they just enjoy riding them, they learned self control on them, took em a bit of time but they all said to me just keep the throttle gentle and feel the bike, don’t drive with your head cut off, but it’s really like that, you can die the same way on a 250cc as Well on a 1300cc.... matter of the learning curve you wanna take. But let’s be honest here, those begginer advanced bs you got there it’s just for bike popularity and video material... Bikes got way more expensive in the last 10 years than they ever were before. Just think about it... dangerous death machines... yea right, apart from throttle control you gotta have 4 sets of eyes and be aware as a mf to keep you safe. Everyone is a possible death outcome... you don’t trust no one in the bike and you gotta fucking signal yourself to cars and everyone else... you’ll die if you don’t... 1000cc is the last thing that’ll hospitalize you.
Incredibly well made video and review guys. I was really impressed and enjoyed every minute. It was like watching a TV show! My constructive criticism is that, because it IS a RUclips video, it was a little long in my opinion. Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks so much for posting this great review. Been waiting for it all summer and I eagerly await the parts video. Love you guys's well-shot and well-edited vids!
Good review, but I do tire of people being so concerned for the new rider on a bike with too much power. My first bike was a 600cc ninja and i topped that thing out the first week i had it. Common sense and knowing your limits is what keeps you alive, not lower hp.
I fucking love you two! Wish i could ride with you guys. Stay safe peeps! I really enjoy how you guys just talk about the bikes and dish out some real opinions. I think it helps a lot. You go into what really matters; mileage, comfortability, suitability, performance, luggage, and even long term mechanicals. Thank you!
The XSR is super cool, it has that cafe racer feel to it. The only thing I dont like about it is the rear taillight which looks like they just grabbed a circular red light and jammed it on top of the tail but otherwise, I love this bike! I also have to agree with the one dude that the triples are amazing motors and although the 4 in-lines have top end type power band, I love that torque-y triple feel more!
Had a chance to demo one of these and I found it hard to get along with. The upright ergos mean that when you accelerate, it yanks your arms off, and when you slow down, all your body’s stopping force has to be absorbed by your arms against the handle bars.
To me the term retro doesn't apply to the XSR range - they look 100% modern to my eyes. I quite like them though, it's kind of its own thing and doesn't look too contrived or desperately 'cool'.
Gosh great video review, editing, and content. I wish I could hear more of that sweet inline 3 engine a bit more but otherwise great video. You guys are real pros!
Great review! I like that you can pick apart the good and the bad. Too many reviewers seem like they're worried about pissing off the manufacturer. I do wish the FZ09 had the upgrades as I like that styling better.
I just bought a 2003 Honda CB 919 as a second bike to my Kawasaki Versys 1000k. Japanese motorcycles, particularly their naked street bikes, have evolved a really severe styling in the last ten years. I'm not at all opposed to that, I really had to talk myself out of buying a new z1000 because i like the engine and i like how it looks. I like how it looks a lot. But my impression is that modern Japanese street fighter aesthetics turn off a lot of the population, particularly non motorcyclists. I don't particularly care what other people think of my ride but obviously loads of people do as evidenced by the xsr's existence and the existence of "heritage lines" present in many other manufacturer's lineups. The point that I would like to make is that in this year of 2016 a motorcycle like the Honda CB 919 looks dated and retro, but it also looks modern. It draws inspiration for its lines from classic motorcycles but it was still clearly manufactured in the 21st century. Personally, I'm not sold about the styling on the xsr. It feels forced. Something about the angle of that radiator makes it appear as though they are hiding the modern instead of accentuating the classic. The CB919 by contrast makes no concessions to hiding modernity yet still looks classic to me. I guess that was not so much a point as one man's opinion on the style. I have never ridden the fz 09 but it looks like a lot of fun and I would probably ride the piss out of the xsr. Great review RevZilla.
I can't tell you how much I love this bike. It's the second one I've ever owned but I love-love-love it. Still, they're right - it's definitely not a bike for long hauls.
The part where they put on the gear before they ride, hilarious.
Wats the music called
I thought I was straight. After seeing that not sure.
Amazing.
the product placement at the start(the helmets, the gloves) was SMOOTH
I love it.
You guys have set the bar for production quality.
@Pep K I wouldn’t say one is better than the other, they both make incredible quality videos they are just a different style
The videos keep getting better and better.
Revzilla and FortNine are the best reviewers out there.
The production quality of this review is through the roof, so many parts just put a big ol smile on my face! And here i was expecting a run of the mill review, I love it, so well made :D!

I really love seeing Philly all over your reviews. Makes me so happy.

This is one of the better review videos I've seen. Thanks for the top notch video.
shout out to you guys for being awesome. Bought my XSR900 because of your coverage!!!
I love the intro scene. Nice nod to the Good Fellas continuous scene flow. :) You guys have a very talented team out. Dope production as usual! 👏🏽 Oh yeah, love the XSR900! Totally my style of a bike.
Those two have the BEST jobs. Talking about bikes, riding bikes, drinking beer, and getting PAID to do it! Color me green with envy. Excellent review!
I bought my XSR900 65.3% because of these reviews. I could not be any happier with this machine. I love you LemLem and Sploodgie

1000cc is the last thing that’ll hospitalize you.
this intro was great. i love you guys and you're the reason i watch so much motorcycle videos
Incredibly well made video and review guys. I was really impressed and enjoyed every minute. It was like watching a TV show!
My constructive criticism is that, because it IS a RUclips video, it was a little long in my opinion.
Keep up the awesome work!
Amazing video. Loved the format. Not really moved by everyone else who just spew fact and chuck wheelies for the camera. Keep up the great work.
The production quality is superb.
The xsr really needs some kind of fly screen to cover the back of the gauges. And I like the round headlight but why is it a paint can?
That's a question for Yamaha's designers haha! -DrewZilla
Holy shit, I love the office.
You get a thumb just for the editing alone.
Raising the bar for moto review videos for sure. Any idea when the XSR700 will come to the states? That's what my money is waiting for.
Right now, Yamaha has said nothing about bringing the XSR700 here to the US. -DrewZilla
Thanks so much for posting this great review. Been waiting for it all summer and I eagerly await the parts video.
Love you guys's well-shot and well-edited vids!
Lemmy and RevZilla, you guys make top notch videos, thanks for posting!!
Okay, I love how after watching this, I already decided my next future bike will definitely be a Yamaha. Have to learn to start small :(
Good review, but I do tire of people being so concerned for the new rider on a bike with too much power. My first bike was a 600cc ninja and i topped that thing out the first week i had it. Common sense and knowing your limits is what keeps you alive, not lower hp.
I think this is one of the coolest videos i've never seen on RUclips. Very very very very very very nice. I like it!
Excellent review of the XSR900!! You guys rock at getting the needed info to the public.
Great vid, fellas! I do love the XSR. One of these days I'll make it to your HQ when I'm in town, always seem to be too busy. Hopefully soon!
Thank you!
The production value of these reviews are shit.................said no one ever. Good job guys!
I screwed up my face when i read the first part of that.
Remember 11 month ago when you wrote that? Good times!
@@hulkhatepunybannertotally agree, from a year ago
really tempted to add this to the collection, loving the looks of it and think it would be ideal for my commute
Lemmy: We're shooting a review on the XSR900
Spurgeon: That's awesome, I guess I'll ride the XSR900
Lemmy:........
:)
Why I love Revzilla reviews. at 3:03
Lemmy:" Yeah some of the new retros are TURD." Speaking nothing but the truth.
Keep up the good work.
NEVER STOP THESE VIDEOS
Awesome review, guys. You do an excellent job!! Huge fan of your work.
To me the term retro doesn't apply to the XSR range - they look 100% modern to my eyes. I quite like them though, it's kind of its own thing and doesn't look too contrived or desperately 'cool'.
momsazombie1
Yeah I keep hearing them referred to as "retro" but they so aren't. Retro for me begins with the Bonneville range, for instance.
Lemmy's beer drained pretty quickly in the last few seconds of the video 😉
He's just _that good_! -DrewZilla
these guys are the best.... only thing I'd change on the xsr is the teenee wimpy headlight... thanks guys very instructive
So where were you guys enjoying those beers? Brilliant channel btw. Very professional, I guess I know where my money's going :-)
The American Sardine Bar here in Philly! -DrewZilla
impressed on video quality and content. its a step up in moto journalism.
Dude, what an outstanding review!!!!!!
I loved this review! You guys rolled out the 'ol razzle dazzle on this one.
I can't tell you how much I love this bike. It's the second one I've ever owned but I love-love-love it. Still, they're right - it's definitely not a bike for long hauls.
Even if the rest of the review was shit (it wasn't) the first few minutes were pure gold. Awesome job!
