    19:48 Part of the reason I love it is because it doesnt look like a fast bike. It looks respectable, like something a responsible person would own. Cops arent going to bother you on a "standard" motorcycle when there are supersport bikes out there. But it is a wolf in sheep's clothing.

    I've just ridden the 700 and 900 back to back and I'd completely agree with this. The 900 is a total hooligan, but in the real world, the 700 is perfect. Plus I found the riding position slightly more comfortable.

    After seeing a bunch of video reviews for the 900, I see reoccurring complaints about the mirrors, warnings that it’s not a “beginner bike” and amazement at what a torque monster it is.
    So, new mirrors and we’re good!
    (Just a word about the beginner warning...if you’re stupid with it, you’ll die. Seen plenty of experienced riders be stupid with powerful bikes. So just be sensible while you get to know it, beginner or expert.)

    I narrowed it down to this bike being the only bike on my radar. I’m just a month in on riding, coming from a Yamaha wr250x, but that thing was just too light and the wind was taking it everywhere I didn’t want it to go, which was scary lol.
    I narrowed it down to the XSR900 being the perfect bike for me but you kind of discouraging me now lol. Sounded like the best thing about this bike is the motor. I found it to be very attractive but now you got me thinking if I should make this commitment or wait. Usually when companies go lazy on a higher end model and add more detail to a lower end model it means there’s going to be a big upgrade to the higher end model the following year.
    I’m very eager to ride this season but it looks like I might have to wait it out

      F that buy the XSR900 - it's a sweet bike. I think my '17 blue XSR looks better with color matched headlight and bare aluminum rear fender. When you get rid of the pumpkin blinkers, put a tail tidy on it, and get an exhaust, this bike is beautiful and a freaking BEAST. All of them look good though. The '19 has a silver tank with red stripe and is sharp too.
      I got it as my second bike after riding a TW200 for a few months on the road. I didn't even have my full motorcycle endorsement yet. B mode sucks, I rode STD mode from the start, with TC2, then quickly went to TC1. I still ride mostly in TC1, Mode STD. I did the same type of research and ended up on the 900 and very glad I did. MT09 insurance is about triple that of the XSR900, that sealed the deal.

    • @MarvFitBikesKicks
      @MarvFitBikesKicks 4 года назад +3

      BWX thanks a lot for your comment and you just completely scratched the MT-09 off my list, no way I’ll ever pay that type of insurance for a bike. That just made my choice easier, I’ll definitely be picking up a XSR900, I’ve looked at pretty much everything, and for a single bike to do everything the XSR seems like the perfect option. 👍🏼

    • @bwxmoto
      @bwxmoto 4 года назад

      Marvin's Reviews ETC. I would call and get quotes from multiple companies before buying anyways but the XSR900 was a lot cheaper than the MT09 for me. In fact it was cheaper than an MT07. My TW200 is about 70/ year, XSR900 about 230/ year with Geico full coverage.. They wanted over 700/ year for MT09. That was three separate companies I called. It might be totally different for you but definitely call a lot of insurance companies. I combined my car with my bikes and got nice discounts.

    This may be a silly question, but do you think this would ride well as a scrambler? Trying to decide between this and the XSR 700 and can't commit to one. 700 seems more reasonable for the scrambler idea, but I would love the speed and power of this baby

  • @AlexD-xr6so
    @AlexD-xr6so 4 года назад

    I can't wait for XSR1000 to come out....would be awesome with a MT10 engine, or if they can bore this one up to 900-950cc and keep it triple and lightweight. MT10 is great bike, but feels kinda heavy. Also think Yamaha should make a Tenere 900 adventure bike and a R9 supersport with the FZ09 engine. Will be almost zero investments for them to expand their fleet with one of the most refined engines.

    Would be interesting to see what these bikes typically sell for. They MSRP list at $9,499, but I’ve seen 2019’s & now 2020’s sit on floors. As of November 2020, you can still find new 2019’s listing for $8,699 & lots of 2020’s @ MSRP, once the new 2021 comes out, & assuming it’s getting the new engine the MT-09 is getting, beat you can deal on this bike. Quite a lot of power & performance at that $

I will tell you that the Triumph is a lot more refined and confidence inspiring. On the other hand, the XSR or MT09 will keep you guessing and constantly put a smile on your face with insane torque.

      The Stonegate Roadrunner Here you go. Remember the manual is for general info not detailed. Quote from ultimatebike revue.....The MT-09 has three riding modes. The default STD (standard) mode is complemented by A mode, for increased throttle aggression. B-mode has reduced power and aggression, which is useful in low-traction conditions such as wet weather. Bennett’s ..Of Yamaha’s D-modes (or rider modes), ‘B’ cuts power by 4bhp and softens the throttle action. For what it’s worth, I use b mode on narrow bumpy back roads for a bit more control.

      You have bit more leg room as the seat is higher, and the stock seat is little bit more comfy than that of the FZ ihmo, though a lot of people have their seat reworked or replaced because it can still be a pita. The riding position itself is comfortable enough for longer rides, but the budget suspension doesn't cope too well with bad road surfaces.

      @@dry509 Higher spec suspension, like Showa or Oehlins usually manages to be sporty while retaining enough comfort, like on the FZ09 SP or Triumph's Street Triples. However, swapping the rear shock (Wilbers for example) and the fork springs makes for a better ride and doesn't cost that much. It's something I intend to do to my XSR as well.
