What a great review! I am actually buying a used xsr900 tomorrow! Took it for a test ride a few days ago and WOW! Incredible engine, huge grin factor with this bike, the aftermarket exhaust sounds amazing.
I like this thing. Its retro without being too pretentious, being new with everything great about new bikes while simply using nice styling cues that give it a look that wont tire after 5byears.
I upgraded to an MT10 from a XSR900, i love both bikes but you can’t underestimate how good that triple motor is, like the dealer said with MT10 over the XSR ‘you 10% speed for 30% more cost’.
Great review, partly on your advice I bought a second hand one in the same colour as you tested. My main gripe is no LED headlight but Hoglights in my hometown Brisbane have a great drop in plug and ride light. There is a lot of info available on the dash but unfortunately there is no handlebar mounted control to access a lot of it. However, I love the tripmeter which automatically comes on when the fuel hits reserve, a very handy feature. I was initially concerned about the fuel range but I’ve managed 315 kms before filling up.
Great review. I've had one since August 2016 and have done 10000km on it. Did a 3500km 9 day tour on it. Was very good, seat is hard but 400km days were a dream on the seat. I've also started commuting on it (due to having to sell my commuter bike) and found the bike is nice and nimble in traffic and B mode is perfect for that situation. STD and A modes are for weekend blats :)
Great review, nice touch with the spitfire too.. this has helped me to chose the xsr900, which I'm waiting on delivery for. Can't wait to get it and do lots of summer riding..
5:17 You claim it needs another gear? Feels a bit busy? That shows 60mph in 6th gear at 4,000rpm. That is absolutely par for the course and the 2020 versions at least will hit 150mph at redline in 6th gear. Your review didn't even mention the clock is a hybrid TFT/LCD? Even in direct sunlight in Australia my clock is clear as a TFT. You miss everything. The mirrors are alloy rotating on stainless gimbals. A mode is the only mode, traction must always be disabled, ABS must always be disabled, the suspension is utterly perfect for the road. It IS the ultimate UJM replicated with today's technology in every way. Even the MT-09 isn't even close to one of these. @@TheMissendenFlyer
You will love the MT10. If you think the XSR is fast OMG!!! I have had mine about 2 months now and love it. Keep up the great work, love what you do and how you're doing it.
That engine is a belter, test rode xsr700 and mt09 late last summer and felt the Xsr900 would be perfect but dealer didn't have one. Like you say, almost too much choice in bike market these days, struggle to choose.
Yamaha knows how to make triples! I bought an XS850 special new in 1980.. absolutely a fabulous bike..smooth as glass and tons of Go! I can only assume that 40 years on they have only gotten better!
I own this bike and I have to say that... it is incredible! Looks great, sounds amazing, it is nimble, breaks fantastically, great stability, awesome fuel consumption (60 mpg) and the best engine you can imagine. The bike is easy to drive because shifting gears is a pleasure, driving position allows you to see the traffic (seat it is a little high), and the engine is beefy at low, middle and high revs. You have to consider that suspension is very stiff and you need to have self control driving this beast.
Thank you for this great review. You mentioned the Ducati Scrambler in comparision and I think due to the date of the review you meant the 800. I own the 1100 Scrambler which I love and I think the XSR could be a precious second bike in my garage because of its japanese quality and its three cylinder motor.
My wife though I was having too much fun on bikes, she didn't like pillion. Surprised me when on her 40th she said she was doing her bike test, which she passed first time. She then bought a Street Triple. Now have bluetooth intercoms as well. We can ride and talk and go everywhere together now......... yey!!
Great review and seems like a fun bike. I'm a huge WWII airplane buff and loved the picture of the XSR and Spitfire together! Those two planes, Spitfire and Hurricane, were instrumental in the defense of England during the Battle of Britain! I would love a ride in one of those!
+PistolPete63 Trust me PistolPete63 there's not a lot you can teach me about the Spitfire and Hurricane! Aeroplanes, especially ww2 warbirds are my first love, so any excuse to mix bikes and planes works for me! All the best as ever - TMF
TheMissendenFlyer then we have a lot in common. I have a model of a P51 Mustang on my desk at work, a plane that you might say was the Tuono of its day! Hmmm, maybe that's why I love the Tuono so much! All the best TMF!
The Mustang is my favourite of all aircraft and I'm sitting in front of a 1:32nd scale model of a "D" that flew from Hunsdon in the UK during the second world war as I type! Love the sound of a Merlin in a 'Stang!
I've had mine from new done close on 4000 mile now. First thing I done was take the stupid mirrors off. Its a bike that needs customised, which when eventually finished they look better than most bikes on the road. Also that is not exhaust corrosion just muck. They are powder coated black, so just give it a wipe and your sorted.

Your videos are top notch, love the pics with the Spitfire and Hurricane, too. Sounds like the old Street Triple has serious competition. Looking forward to your review on the new one when able!
I have the MT07 and I'm thinking of buying an XSR900 as my next bike for all the extra bells and whistles and obviously that glorious inline 3. The 07 is very light and nimble on it's feet and sounds absolutely amazing with an aftermarket exhaust!
Hi TMF took my Explorer for its first proper ride out today and got a pic with a Spitfire as well !! Great riding around your area and thank you for sharing this video, any other suggestions are welcome. I think a trip to Duxford is on the cards soon. Many thanks and keep up the good work. JJ

I’ve watched, and enjoyed, many of your videos but only just figured out where you’re located. I was in the US Navy and stationed in West Ruislip from 2000-2003. We lived on RAF Daws Hill! I loved High Wycombe, especially the Saturday market. Thanks for making such high quality videos. I’m a new rider and have found your information to be very helpful.
Glad you finally got to take one out it's an awesome machine had mine nearly a year now and still enjoying it, I was back and forth with the Street Triple another great bike but the Yam styling got me. Great review and don't forget to take it out on a summer evening. Regards
You must be the 4th person to say that - I don't think it's a coincidence! There was a Yellow and Black anniversary run when the bikes where launched....long since sold out alas 'cos they looked mint!
John Richards I have the 60th aniversity edition in yellow and black,it reminds me of the Rd 350 Yamaha's from when I was a teen.that's why I had to have it.I have 5000 miles on it now I still love it so much it'd perfect for me. the only changes coming are bar end mirrors and small fairing,to change where the wind hits me just a little.
Thanks for another great video! Thanks also, for showing us the village of Bradenham too. I used to work in the manor house there. Did you know, it was the famous writer Isaac D'Israeli's house years ago? His son, Benjamin Disraeli, was brought up there and went on to be Queen Victoria's favourite Prime Minister! 😊
This is more like it Mr Flyer.I commented on the weight of the Triumph T range and i still think this Yamaha is too heavy but going in the right direction.
I'm jumping between the MT09 and the XSR 900. I can't test ride any as I am still on my A2, but I am doing my full test the minute a riding center get back to me (Noice Covid... real Noice). From my findings, the MT09 is more aggressive and also lacks tech. The XSR 900 has the same power as the MT09 but a more linear throttle response. The price for a decent one is similar, but insurance is MORE for the XSR which suprised me.
Funnily enough TMF, i was out for a ride today & met a guy on the anniversary model, the akropovic sounded sweeet. He had a big beaming smile on his boat.. now i know why.
Yeah this really took me by surprise, I have a bit of an inbuilt bias towards European machines, so this was a real eye opener....and if you're going to have one then that block yellow anniversary one is the one to have I guess....thanks for watching - TMF
Really enjoyed the video which gave an excellent feel for riding the bike. I like the sound of it too, and of course the Oxford area is beautiful. thanks! although it was dull and looked cold, the soft light is conducive to nice video without strong sunlight in the camera lens.
Matt Pratt I have one B is the laziest mode good for rain and slick roads, and traction control 2. standard is the next with a little quicker throttle response, then there Is A mode that is instant response when you turn the throttle in this mode you better be ready.I usually keep mine in A mode now with traction control in 1 unless it's raining.when I first got the bike I kept in B mode till I got used to the power,it has enough power for me I'm a happy man that I chose this bike.it has so much more power than my 1983 Yamaha 650 maxim.I love this old bike too except the weak brakes.
Yeah it's a 2016 model with 1000miles on clock ( not a demo) £6799 That's a great saving on new. Pick it up Saturday. I'm like a kid night before Xmas haha
What's up with the parking on the road where the lane is only wide enough for driving or parking but no both and you have to drive on the on coming lane? With all that available land you'd think they'll make some space for parking.
Blimey 123,000 views! Would have this bike over the MT09, looks great and reminds me of my RD250LC I bought in 1981. Test rode one a few weeks ago and loved it.....perhaps a stablemate for the MT10 in a couple of years.
Good on you for being honest and admitting it is better than your Triumph Street Triple and better value for money and more reliable. Some just like spending as much as they possibly can and get a bike like the Ducati Napolean or the Triumph Bonaparte
Would liked to have bought this but got the Triumph Street Triple 660 - only because its a lams version. When I get my full license this''ll be among the top of my list.
MT-10, you need dry roads to get the best out of it but here's a couple of highlights. Power wheelies in the first 3 gears It loves to turn, feels planted in corners. Cruise Control (works in 4th+ and 30mph+ ) Brakes are a bit 'Meh' I have EBC HH in mine and they are much better than the standard pads.
I purchased one of these two weeks ago and Im having trouble getting gear changes smooth as well. I think it might due to the excessive throttle slack.
Nice review - opened my eyes to this bike. Love the 'dash', and the paint job - reminiscent of the RD250LC / RD350LC, which I'm sure is deliberate, but nicely done as it's not copying it exactly. They also do an Abarth grey / red combo paint job, which just happens to exactly match my car (an Abarth 595 in grey / red). Don't think I'll be tempted over a new Street Triple when it's time to change, but I'll pay more attention at the MCN show. btw, you were braver on those roads than I would have been, perhaps they looked worse on camera than they were. Cheers.
+Nigel Street This really was good Nigel, I've got high hope for the new Street Triple but it's got some serious competition with these new(ish) Yamahas.....
A competitor would also be the Tiger Sport, at least for my money. Two great all rounders, but one more sports tourer and one more Sunday dash to the Super Sausage! Great video, as ever...
Styling is a funny old thing and keep coming back to the XSR900 as a potential next bike. Have turned away a few times as even though I love a Yam triple and this bike seems to do so much so well for little money I couldn’t get past that huge empty space between back wheel and seat unit but saw one the other day with soft luggage that filled the gap and bike was transformed in my eyes. Having said that couldn’t get past the styling of my current ride XJR1300 as disliked the raised tail piece but have grown to love it the more I bond and respect that too. Looks like the XRS could be back on the wish list. 😊👍
I know its virtually the same bike, but I would value your opinion of the MT-09 Tracer. Yamaha, give him a long-term one to evaluate please! I have a 2012 Suzuki DL650 V-Strom and I'm looking to upgrade.
Great review! Wife willing, this may be my next bike. I've been looking for a bike with the performance of a naked with styling of a more traditional standard. I've looked at Street Triples, T120, Monster, etc. I know I'm all over the place but there is a continuum of performance, style and value in my mind and this seems to check all the boxes.
Great review. Good job Yamaha ,As a few have already said looks so much like an RD LC . Brings back memories of the 80's , If I write to Suzuki do you think they will make a new X7
What sacrilege TMF! Comparing the XSR900 to the Ducati Scrambler. For one, the XSR has got way more power (and looks better... I know looks are subjective). Seriously though, I was wondering when you'd review this bike. I've had mine for a few months now (for my daily commute) and quite honestly it's all the bike most would want. A couple of things you didn't mention. The mirrors are a bit useless for the tall and broad of shoulder. I'm 6ft2 and broad shouldered. All I could see in the mirrors were my elbows. Also, if you're as heavy as I am, you quickly find the rear suspension isn't damped enough. I got the accessory ohlins shock available as an accessory from Yamaha to fix this. Also, the Yamaha Sports screen solves the buffeting issues as speed. Right I better shut up now...😉. I could go on and on about this bike.
Lovely machine Onyeka - I did say it was way better than the Ducati Scrambler didn't I! ....and I think I may have let it slip that I even preferred the ride to my Street Triple....now that's sacrilege surely!!
Thanks for speaking up Onyeka. I'm looking hard at the XSR. In a lot of these reviews, people don't usually give their general dimensions as riders and how they feel. I'm 6'1" and pretty broad shouldered so I very much appreciate your comment about the mirrors (although it seems most people swap out the stock mirrors on most bikes anyways). If you don't mind, what weight range are we talking about in regards to the ohlins? Also, at your height, are you sitting more upright and not feeling the ride in your shoulders?
Great review as always buddy! My Bro has an XSR900 and he loves it, we changed the pipe to a full titanium Akrapovic and it sounds amazing, cheers, GMAN
Wow, would like to hear that - the standard can this one had sounded pretty good to me, the engine had almost a turbo whine about it when you opened it up, quite different to the Triumph Triple but still a lovely sound....
Well actually I came over to Canada a year or so back for a 3-5 year spell and that's what I was going to get but ended up with a Versys 1000 LT. Missing those roads back in the UK that bend and twist, oh and the fact that you can ride a bike at this time of year. Minus 18 this morning and we had a spell where it was minus 30 for a few weeks.
I think Yamaha were very brave to clear the decks of the old naked mid range bikes (they were pretty boring) and bring out the new range, the new triples are very good. Now they must be selling truck loads great forward thinking by the Yamaha boffins!!! great review must try one of these.................so many great bikes we are so lucky indeed!
I did sit on this bike and was put off by the seat height as I was on tip toes despite my 5' 8" height which I beleive is simmilar to yours. Was there a lowering kit on the test model. I have an SP 09 which enables me to flat foot, probablly due to the narrow seat.
TheMissendenFlyer Sounds like a contender. There's so much choice in that sector it would be a shame if it was overlooked. Style wise it's on point. With a few well placed mods you've got a good bike.
I have one of these as my second bike and I agree with everything you said, except I never felt that snatch-y throttle you point out. You forgot to mention it has a slipper clutch, hence the nice gearbox and light clutch.
Yes I think that "snatchy" throttle may just be a bit of slack on this particular bike, not big deal just noticeable....and yes I should have mentioned the slipper clutch, thanks for pointing that out. Cheers - TMF
Nice review. Thanks.Did you mention which TC mode you were using? I leave mine in TC 1. I agree STD mode can be a little jerky but not A which is just on/off or B which feels more like a carb' motor than injector. I've had my XSR900 since May 2016 but have done 7000km or so - love it!
+Jim E Thanks Jim - and no I didn't mention the traction control other than in passing, I didn't fiddle with it either as it was a pretty wet day on the roads and wanted its electronic safety net! Well done on your choice of bike, great fun machine. All the best - TMF
Crikey that's tough as they're both brilliant bikes - for me personally I think I'd take the kawa, just a little less manic (+ I have the Street triple for that sort of thing!)...thanks for watching!
I took one of these out from Brian Gray's too, Sam is a very helpful chap! I liked the bike overall, it felt a bit small when riding it, not cramped but I didn't feel like I was on a large bike if that makes sense..... Good bike to ride though, only thing I didn't like was that rear light, not sure it goes well on the bike.....
No I'm 5ft 8 too. I didn't feel cramped at all, hard to describe just felt a bit small, but that's not a negative. I thought it's a lovely bike. Probably felt small as I am used to my Tracer 900..... Love the engine in these bikes, Yamaha have done very well!
This video is one of the reasons why I now have an XSR900. What a wonderful, wonderful motorcycle!
Kilometer per liter?
@@billpojas7126 I got around 200-220 km per fill up, which is usually 10-11 litres, so around 4.5-5.2 litres per 100 km

Yeah average km's out of the tank for me seems to be in the 230-250 range.
Okay - perhaps I could live with that. Wondered what kind of aftermarket bits and bobs go well on the XSR / or are needed.

Currently riding and MT07 in Oz I'm thinking of making this my next bike and your review has helped to possibly seal the decision. Thanks :-)
You'll love it Stephen - a great "upgrade" from the '07......
I like the look of the bike but I wish it came with a bigger headlight.
This is more like it Mr Flyer.I commented on the weight of the Triumph T range and i still think this Yamaha is too heavy but going in the right direction.
Yeah it certainly felt nice and light - lighter than it looks for sure.....looking forward to trying an MT09 at some point to see how it compares...
I always prefer fenders to be the same color as the tank .black fenders look like a cop out.
But it's gray here and you can change out the tank plastic covers to make the bike look totally different, so excellent of an idea.
Fantastic honest review. Just purchased a brand new one in red. Love it.😍.
Congratulations!
Basically an MT-09 with the plastic bits removed and a nice headlight, tank and seat added.
Yup - it really works too!
Still relevant review, on my short list, love it! Rumor has it for 2021 Yamaha will give the xsr900 a refresh. Time Will tell. ... 🤗
Hopefully they finally bump up the CC to 899, make more sense to have "900" in the name that way.
Look forward to your opinion on the MT-10. As always your reviews are spot on. Keep them coming.
Thank you John...
Youre welcome. Where are you and I'll tell you who is the nearest to you with a bike.
NilSatis No9 with good reason. Akrapovic pipes work very well with this bike. A pity most manufacturers don't put similar sounding pipes as standard.
My next bike, but il be putting a tail tidy on, hate the back light
Excellent, non boring, reviews. Must disagree with you about it not being an everyday ride to work moto.
Fair enough! Thanks for watching....
Really enjoyed the video which gave an excellent feel for riding the bike. I like the sound of it too, and of course the Oxford area is beautiful. thanks! although it was dull and looked cold, the soft light is conducive to nice video without strong sunlight in the camera lens.
Great stuff - thanks cynic150 - it was a pretty horrible day to be out filming but glad the dullness appealed to you at least! All the best - TMF
Nice to hear an honest opinion on the ducati scrambler
+Cafe Racer Ldn Thank you :0)
Why is it always raining in the UK? Even in movies. It always looks pale and like it's going to rain. The sun is always blocked out.
That's Blighty for you (we are a long way North - about the same as Nova Scotia....I imagine it's quite grey there too)....
Great review, I've been interested in one of these for a while now. It really needs the aftermarket pipe which make it sound amazing!
Might be worth a check, I think the modes go: B is most aggressive then A then Standard
Yes you may be right Matt - they made a hell of a difference in feel to the bike though - B is the way to go!
TheMissendenFlyer unlike the rider modes on my tiger 800! no difference other than tc and abs!
Great review, well presented and no swearing, well beep almost.
+Rock Ardbiker Thank you Rock....and yes I let you down by letting one slip out...I do try hard not too on my vids. Thanks for watching - TMF
Cracking review.inspired me to put a deposit on one this afternoon. Can't wait now. big jump from my Yamaha fzs 600 fazer
Wow - congratulations! Lovely bike and exciting times waiting for your new machine eh?
Yeah it's a 2016 model with 1000miles on clock ( not a demo)
£6799 That's a great saving on new. Pick it up Saturday. I'm like a kid night before Xmas haha
I know how you feel - enjoy!
Mark Ullyett Ha! My first bike was a Fazer 600 and I'm getting more certain the XSR900 is a good replacement. Godspeed!
Yeah this is a lovely machine - one of my favourite of the current Yamahas...this and the MT10 of course!
I am curious how this compares to the FZ, which I understand was greatly improved with the 2017 model
Looks like a real air plane to me.. I think they saved a few of them.. I thought Japanese 0's were aluminum colored..?
Good on you for being honest and admitting it is better than your Triumph Street Triple and better value for money and more reliable. Some just like spending as much as they possibly can and get a bike like the Ducati Napolean or the Triumph Bonaparte
I hope to own a nice used one of these soon.
Loving my XSR700, but thinking I might have to go for the 900 in a year or two.
Would liked to have bought this but got the Triumph Street Triple 660 - only because its a lams version. When I get my full license this''ll be among the top of my list.
Yeah it's a great bike and similar to the Street Triple in fun factor....thanks for watching - TMF
MT-10, you need dry roads to get the best out of it but here's a couple of highlights.
Power wheelies in the first 3 gears
It loves to turn, feels planted in corners.
Cruise Control (works in 4th+ and 30mph+ )
Brakes are a bit 'Meh' I have EBC HH in mine and they are much better than the standard pads.
Can't wait to have a crack at one of those (and the MT-09 for that matter)....thanks for the heads up - TMF
There's no cruise control on this bike, what are you talking about?
Critical Rider The MT-10, hence why my comment starts with "MT-10"

Sorry, you're absolutely right, I missed that.
Great review. I had not previously considered one of these bikes, but now you have provoked my interest. Thanks.
Cheers Mark, no these weren't really on my radar either, but now they very much are!
I purchased one of these two weeks ago and Im having trouble getting gear changes smooth as well. I think it might due to the excessive throttle slack.
Oh dear :0(
Nice review - opened my eyes to this bike.
Good video TMF, I agree on the retro themed bikes point. I would like to hear your thoughts on the Tracer 900.
Funny you should mention the Tracer...... ;0) ...stay tuned...
A competitor would also be the Tiger Sport, at least for my money. Two great all rounders, but one more sports tourer and one more Sunday dash to the Super Sausage! Great video, as ever...
Yes I shall be riding the Tiger Sport soon, looking forward to that as an ex-Tiger 1050 owner....
Why not!
I can understand you.
I drive a XJR 1200 good bike
Nice review! I found the ride portion of the video quite thrilling and informative.
Excellent! Thanks for watching and for stopping by....TMF
Great vid as always m8! I'm saving up for one of these! I'll get it next year and i can't wait! I love the way it rides! :)
Me too!
I know its virtually the same bike, but I would value your opinion of the MT-09 Tracer. Yamaha, give him a long-term one to evaluate please! I have a 2012 Suzuki DL650 V-Strom and I'm looking to upgrade.
Yes I'm looking forward to giving the big Tracer a go sometime, I have made contact with the big wigs at Yamaha but so far no dice :0(
Great review!
+Matthew Held Yes, it's a lovely bike this one, really enjoyed riding it....TMF
Great review. Good job Yamaha ,As a few have already said looks so much like an RD LC . Brings back memories of the 80's , If I write to Suzuki do you think they will make a new X7
Why not give it a try! ;0)
One can only try eh
Yes...Ducati Scrambler should be compared with a XSR700 not 900.
TheMissendenFlyer my "rage" is assuaged Mr TMF 😊. And as always great review. Please keep em coming.
Onyeka Onyia totally agree .. I've done 8500 miles in 8 months commuting.. WHAT A BIKE ..!!!!!! Not sure what could be better really !!!:-)))👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I have to say it again love your channel , love your bike reviews great stuff my man class act 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
+utterlycutterly1 I can't argue with your impeccable taste :0)
Great review as always buddy! My Bro has an XSR900 and he loves it, we changed the pipe to a full titanium Akrapovic and it sounds amazing, cheers, GMAN
Wow, would like to hear that - the standard can this one had sounded pretty good to me, the engine had almost a turbo whine about it when you opened it up, quite different to the Triumph Triple but still a lovely sound....
TMF: "STD"
Me: Grins like a 4-year-old.
Very nice bike. I don't like the dial and personally would prefer a bigger tank for range. Great review as always
Thanks Nigel - oddly for a single gauge I rather liked it, but we all have different tastes of course!
Tracer then ;)
Well actually I came over to Canada a year or so back for a 3-5 year spell and that's what I was going to get but ended up with a Versys 1000 LT.
Yes just when we all thought Yamaha had lost it a couple of years back they completely up their game, let's hope Suzuki can do the same! Cheers - TMF
Said to my wife ..... at a glance what does this remind you of ..... RD350LC was her reply ...... job done Mr Yamaha !!
Impressive! ...and well done on your selection of wife!
She cut her "biking teeth" perched on the back of a couple of Stan Stevens tuned RD's ...... the experience is imprinted in her memory lol ;-)
yes it does. Well done Mrs Fenner-G
Nice one....
yeah man thats what i thought
I did sit on this bike and was put off by the seat height as I was on tip toes despite my 5' 8" height which I beleive is simmilar to yours. Was there a lowering kit on the test model. I have an SP 09 which enables me to flat foot, probablly due to the narrow seat.
No this was the standard bike, was a little tall for my liking....
2:30 Very nice of Yamaha to include the optional '7th and 8th Gear' package onto the test model ;-)
hehe, yes that's what I kept feeling for - angry bike, didn't have enough gears!!! Thanks for watching and for stopping by - TMF
Could always play around with swapping some cogs. But geared tall it may loose a bit of zip.
A nice mid range daily ride. Thanks TMF great little glimpse at the bike sir.
Good to have you along as ever Sleepingdragon....mid range it may technically be but it felt top of the class to me, loved it!
TheMissendenFlyer Sounds like a contender. There's so much choice in that sector it would be a shame if it was overlooked. Style wise it's on point. With a few well placed mods you've got a good bike.
Completely agree with you there....
115 hp, mid range?
I have one of these as my second bike and I agree with everything you said, except I never felt that snatch-y throttle you point out. You forgot to mention it has a slipper clutch, hence the nice gearbox and light clutch.
Yes I think that "snatchy" throttle may just be a bit of slack on this particular bike, not big deal just noticeable....and yes I should have mentioned the slipper clutch, thanks for pointing that out. Cheers - TMF
my first thoughts were the throttle cable needed tensioning.
It's only half 'fly by wire' isnt it...
Why am I watching this video again 2 years later? The video is great, the bike is great, I wish I had time to ride it more often!
Thanks for the review..im getting a silver one june 1st!!!cant wait!!!
the best camera angle so far!!!
Glad you approve :0)
brilliant review once again
Thank you Craig - very kind of you to say so....
You make good reviews!
Between the XSR900 and the Z900RS, which one do you prefer for a weekend bike?
Crikey that's tough as they're both brilliant bikes - for me personally I think I'd take the kawa, just a little less manic (+ I have the Street triple for that sort of thing!)...thanks for watching!
I took one of these out from Brian Gray's too, Sam is a very helpful chap! I liked the bike overall, it felt a bit small when riding it, not cramped but I didn't feel like I was on a large bike if that makes sense..... Good bike to ride though, only thing I didn't like was that rear light, not sure it goes well on the bike.....
Are you a big fella? ...I'm not particularly at 5'8 - felt great to me...
No I'm 5ft 8 too. I didn't feel cramped at all, hard to describe just felt a bit small, but that's not a negative. I thought it's a lovely bike. Probably felt small as I am used to my Tracer 900..... Love the engine in these bikes, Yamaha have done very well!
Listening to you talk makes me want to go get a spot of Tay ( tea) You do great reviews
