    It took YEARS of work to get my 2016 XSR in a place that I think it is excellent and it took reworking the clutch, tuning, dyno, replacement parts, etc. Now it looks and sounds like you get all of that excitement out of the box without tweaks. Awesome job, Yamaha

      I modified my xsr heavily, but only after the first year. The new one is a completely different animal. I wouldn’t trade, but I’m interested in other owners opinions. For me it’s perfect ergos, and the rest. The new one doesn’t have that. You? Full disclosure, I’ve had 4 Yamaha triples and the mt10. Cheers

    • @That1J1

      @@user-hf8ie8mf3n I came off of a a late 2000s Bonneville onto the XSR after trying the thruxton RS, CB1000, Z900, and street triple. I liked them all for different reasons, but they weren't as rowdy as the XSR.
      I just finished modding mine after several years, exhaust, sliders, dyno and tune, tank panels, seat, LED lights, road tires, suspension, clutch, etc. and it feels PERFECT right now. Honestly, am going to ride it until batteries catch up with bikes and go electric. I couldn't imagine riding anything else after spending so much love and time on this animal.
      All of that said, if I did end up with a 2022 I don't think I would be as happy. The 2016 was right place right time for me, and I'm happy for Yamaha's refinement of the ride, but would pick accidental wheelies with a less aggressive rider position any day. I am a hooligan and the xsr900 2016-2018 is a hooligan bike

I've owned my 09 now for a year and it's power delivery makes it feel like a scalpel on the street. OC: I’ve been seriously considering a triple after my current SV and not wanting to take that liter bike insurance hit. The question was Street Triple, MT09, or XSR900. I’d have to buy a used Striple but I was sketch on that idea, the MT09 is more hooligan style than I care for, but the XSR seems to be just right.

    • @lazzygnome4060
      @lazzygnome4060 Год назад

      Just to lend some ease of mind to the idea of buying a used Street Triple, I bought one this year as my first bike, and haven't had any issues with it at all. It's the RX model from 2015 (basically the precursor to the RS) and I put over 6,000 miles on it this year alone. Did my own 30,000 mile service, and it runs great. While I can't possibly compare it to the MT-09 or the XSR-900, I can say that a used Street Triple is a good choice given that you have the ability to pick one up.

    • @mikehoskin1674
      @mikehoskin1674 Год назад

      I'd say there shouldn't be any issues with a low mileage street triple, I have a 2011 triumph daytona 675, the bike the 765 striple was derived from, it has 15,000km I've had it since July last year, my 2021 mt09 since July '21 and a 2017 SV650 since 2017, which ever bike you go with, you shouldn't have any reliability problems. I'd go with the '21 mt09 though, it's the most fun and well put together bike if you're still young or young at heart, and I'd say it's pretty comfortable too with an aftermarket seat and the suspension tuned right.

One thing not many people mention... with the bar mirrors, you don't SEE any of the bike in front of you going down the road. Everything is out of my field of vision; literally feels like flying!! Got one on order. Had a previous gen MT09, but got rid of it because the suspension was lacking and the chassis, while great fun, was just a bit chaotic. Looking forward to a CP3 bike with a more settled chassis, and hopefully better suspension calibrations for aggressive use.

      How do u like it over the mt09?

    • @leanit5756
      @leanit5756 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@2Petya I like the XSR way better. The chassis feels very stable, like my R1. The shock and fork are pretty good after dialing in close to max rebound damping, and some compression damping on the fork. The shock isn't adjustable for compression damping, but if anything, there is too much any way. Fine for going fast on smooth roads, but a bit much for easier use on rougher roads.
      The only real downside is the EURO 5 tuning... just like on the MT10, R1, etc. If you like to really ride hard, you will notice there is electronic bullshitery taking place that modifies power deliver, at least in the lower gears.
      If I had to do it again, I would go with the XSR... but again, my MT09 as the previous, not current generation.

Currently riding a tracer 7. Had crazy strong engine brake and insane on off throttle. Had it ecu flashed, but only disabled deceleration fuel cut. Left the oem map, left the O2 sensor enabled, everything. Only with the decel fuel cut off, it got way better. Lesser engine braking, and got much smoother, no more horsekick from 0% throttle.

    Probably the main reason why you feel you can ride this bike quicker/faster than 09 is it's geometry which is much more sporty. The weight is more on front wheel, kinda like on 07 or 10 and the riding position is slightly more on wrists which i personally prefer much more than 09. When i sat on this xsr it was immediately obvious for me that it will be much funnier and more agile bike than 09. I just don't like that 90deg upright position that 09 gives.

      So on an xsr900 I should be able to do 200kph around 75kph corners? I'm already doing 150-170 around said corners on a '21 mt09. Don't think it has anything to do with the handlebar position, think it's all in what you're used to. OC: It seems your thoughts have changed with the second gen XSR900 over the first gen. I remember your first ride of the first gen and it came across that you did not care too much for the styling of the XSR900.

    Got to ride a 2016 today which I loved. I think the round digital display looks better than the square, but the mode selection would be nice.
    The reason it doesn't work in the rain is the lack of protection in the front. A small windscreen would be nice. Is it optional or did they do away with it?
