My understanding is Craftsman is a more generic brand sold in discount stores, general stores, home goods supply stores etc, while Stanley etc is sold through hardware and industry supply stores. It's like you can get some brands of stick blenders in the kitchen aisle of Tescos etc alongside the spatulas and measuring cups. But other brands are only available through department stores, not supermarket.
Craftsman was a sears brand here in America. It was sold almost exclusively at sears and authorized retailers. When sears went under Stanley bought the name and trademarks from them in hopes of revitalizing the once great name in tools. Apart from hand tools Stanly power tools are non existent here in America.
I mainly own all craftsman an dewalt power tools. Alot of my hand tools are craftsman as well. I have one ridgid ½ impact I've had for years it's good as well. But craftsman an dewalt are my favorite. With dewalt being the most powerful tool out of the two. I've been a craftsman lover for years growing up that's all my dad would use is craftsman tools. Now I do the same but I also like dewalt as well.
In Australia, Stanley also produces DeWalt tools. Which is no surprise; because they're both B black and yellow. But most Tradies or Tradesman swear by DeWalt; so Stanley must be good, because they're the same company -- a bit like Toyota and Lexus, or VW and Audi and Skoda.

Stanley and Black and Decker are owned by the same company. Black and Decker couldn't get trades people to take their brand seriously so they bought the rights to the Dewalt name. Dewalt went out of business years ago, but before they did, they produced quality tools that were used by most schools in the USA. Black and Decker knew that the Dewalt brand was recognisable, and it worked. It's similar to AEG, which is just an upmarket Ryobi.
Stanley Black and Decker purchased Craftsman from Sears (old brick and motor store that went under). In the US, Porter Cable used to be their mid tier, but it’s been bumped down to make room for Craftsman post acquisition. The Stanley Fatmax seems identical to a dewalt drill driver Dewalt competes with Milwaukee Craftsman competes with Ryobi Porter Cable competes with Ridgid Something like that historically. Ridgid and Porter Cable aren’t getting much love or attention from their parent companies when it comes to offerings in the US.
They are electronically the same, so with an adapter you can use them. The + and - pins are reversed, and the plastic housing is remodeled, but nöthing else changed.
Yes, they are 100% identical except the color and the name. Just like the old Fatmax tools and batteries (non-V20) and the grey-red Porter Cable tools: 100% identical, both tools and batteries.

The fatmax stuff is craftsman but in Europe. Its the same stuff but yellow and yes - some of them are older DeWALT models!
What about these batteries compatibility to Porter Cable 20V tools?
Thank you from Brazil!
Stanley FatMax are also in Oz...
Old Stanley 18v have the same battery like as Porter Cable probably from USA
Not only the battery; all tools are 100% identical, only coloured and branded differently.
can i use old 18v stanley battery on mew models?
No you cant unfortunately there is a converter you can buy from Stanley that lets you use them though.

can we charge a v20 baterry of craftsman on a stanley v20 fatmax charger and vice versa?
I haven't tested but i would think so. My Stanley V20 batteries work in a craftsman angle grinder I imported

So guessing the DeWALT multi tool blades will fit the Stanley?
yes!
The gig is up!
Зарядное устройство от stanley будет заряжать аккумулятор от crafsman?
sorry we don't speak russian
@@TheBlokeCave Good afternoon. There will be a charger or Stanley to charge the craftsman battery.
Decent budget tools, definitely no Makita or Milwak, but still not a half bad DIY tool
Agreed, very good tools for the DIY'er
There often made in the same factory an often on the same production line.
All made in China to their specs.
What's in a name, not a lot.
More like pepsi tbh
