Remember jams like this on Friday Night Videos? Growing up as a teen during the 80s and staying up all night on Friday nights to watch music videos was absolutely amazing.
Life when this song came out: no cable, no Internet, no cell phones. Instead, we had a VCR, Atari, and imagination as kids. Kids did everything outside back then - rode bikes, pool hopping, collected stickers, playing sports with other neighborhood kids, watergun fights, playing with walkie talkies, etc. You made the best with what (little) you had. It was really a lot of fun!
I love being old! We were so cheap we didn't have cable until 1985 so I taped this and the interview with Boy George off Friday Night Videos. (Somehow we were the first on the block with a VCR)
+ℒℴѵℯ AXL ROSE I agree I miss the simple days of the 80's and nothing revolved around having Wi-Fi and having a computer, things were so simple back then and even though I was born in 1982 I remember the 80's like it was yesterday and also I remember there being lots of variety in music and TV and nothing was reality on TV or there was barely any drama.
This song brings memories of growing up in the 80ies...no cable till 1985, no internet, cell phones or computers...no reality TV. Life was sooo simple!
He knew how to apply - that's for sure. Girls back then wore more makeup and I loved it!! At a club in Charlotte they looked so good dressed up to the hilt! Girls have natural beauty so I am not saying anything derogatory about girls with no makeup of course!!
They were so ahead of their time. I wasn't in to them back in the day. Now I realize how good they were. We had legendary talent back then. These days there's no true legendary talent. There's a few talented artist, but you cant compare them to the artist of the 70's, 80's and 90's.
The Bridge has great chord set ups and the hand claps added to the latter part of the choruses was brilliant production work elevating the song into a classic.
Thanks for the reply! I believe that was the writer's goal; to appeal to the demographic that buys music for the rest of their lives, 12 year old girls who are now in their 40's. That's most certainly why I keep hearing the song on current radio. My comment was slanted toward production details. I apologize. I was speaking in terms of "mail box jobs" as the holder of the song's licensing, etc. still gets a really nice check every 3 months. That's a keeper, a classic in format sense. peace...
I got to see them in North Carolina in 2018, and when I say I LOSS MY MIND!!!! It was Boy, 4:35 , B52s and the Thompson Twins.... Best Concert I been to in a very long time.

Those of us that came up through that era, graduating high school in 80, maturing through the decade, it was perfect. There were plenty of jobs, it was a trusting time, everyone was on the same side. Things started to turn south toward the end of the decade with AIDS, crack cocaine and gang violence. But we had a great run up until that.
Boy George was so talented and music was legendary so I didn't even know or care if he was gay!! Just loved his songs and sung along like I wrote them myself 😍
My brother and mum idolised Boy George, I can see why I was brought up on culture club, his voice alone is amazing but Boy George is one of the most amazing people to come out of the 80s he gave people a chance to be who they were when judging was kept in circles not social media ICON doesn't cover it
My family told me there was something wrong with me when I Jam to this song... My 62 birthday is coming up & I'm blasting this song out on my birthday 🎉🎉🎉🎉😂. So what!!! It's life of music 🎶🎶🎶
Yessss - the videos on MTV and VH1 seemed magical -- maybe it helped that I was out of college by '83 and my life was so carefree w/o homework!! The Reagan years and the optimism paired with the music - loved the British Invasion!!!!

Yes yes yes! We didn't have cable so Friday Night Videos was the only time we could see what was out. Good Times!
@@jmarshall9127, ya man totally awesome time
Friday Night videos and soul beat.
唐突な「メラメラと燃えている〜!」に思わず笑ってしまいました。素敵です。
No disrespect but Boy George sounds like a black gospel singer from Detroit or some other Midwestern city
Musically, we're all mixed together.❤
He's from England
Life when this song came out: no cable, no Internet, no cell phones. Instead, we had a VCR, Atari, and imagination as kids. Kids did everything outside back then - rode bikes, pool hopping, collected stickers, playing sports with other neighborhood kids, watergun fights, playing with walkie talkies, etc. You made the best with what (little) you had. It was really a lot of fun!
philaman1972 But now you are old and have to adapt with the changes like me...
I love being old! We were so cheap we didn't have cable until 1985 so I taped this and the interview with Boy George off Friday Night Videos. (Somehow we were the first on the block with a VCR)
+philaman1972 we sure did.. best days of my entire life too
+ℒℴѵℯ AXL ROSE I agree I miss the simple days of the 80's and nothing revolved around having Wi-Fi and having a computer, things were so simple back then and even though I was born in 1982 I remember the 80's like it was yesterday and also I remember there being lots of variety in music and TV and nothing was reality on TV or there was barely any drama.
Oh yeha! I wish we go back in time!
この曲は好きです。
この曲を聴くと昔懐かしい洋楽がFMラジオの番組が多くありダビングしてたのを思い出します。
The 80s decade of music. Like no other.
I was a Metal Head back in the early 80`s, but really appreciate this fine music even all these years later!
Me too.
I still am a metal head but also love and appreciate so many other music genres.
The super talented Jermaine Stewart sang backing vocals on this track. R.I.P Jermaine.
Ruby Turner on backing vocals in this video, another power house voice
@@traceygilligan1201 Ruby sang on From Luxury to Heartache, not this one, Jermaine Stewart did.
Boy George was decades ahead of his time. Besides his iconic image, George got a great voice too.
This song brings memories of growing up in the 80ies...no cable till 1985, no internet, cell phones or computers...no reality TV. Life was sooo simple!
I remember. 😊❤
Straight old dude with kids, southern boy (GA). Always loved this band and his singing, surprises a lot of people!
Yeh, noticed that, lots different people like him. Makes me happy, thanks !
His eye brows and eye shadow are on point. I always admired it, even back in the 1980's.
my eye admires that too
Aurora Brusseau it took me a year before realizing he was a man.
He has beautiful eyes I agree!!!
He knew how to apply - that's for sure. Girls back then wore more makeup and I loved it!! At a club in Charlotte they looked so good dressed up to the hilt! Girls have natural beauty so I am not saying anything derogatory about girls with no makeup of course!!
Aurora Brusseau ...If you like that kind of thing in a man... That's showmanship for you for sure!
like it or not... Boy George is a musical genius and world wide icon..
You got that right****
he was sketchy for a bit, but now, back on top
So true. Pete Townsend of “The Who” once said something very similar.
Damn right
And he's very pretty.
They were so ahead of their time. I wasn't in to them back in the day. Now I realize how good they were. We had legendary talent back then. These days there's no true legendary talent. There's a few talented artist, but you cant compare them to the artist of the 70's, 80's and 90's.
Good thing they're coming out with a new album this year!
That's a keeper, a classic in format sense. peace...
Mark Primas The music industry doesn't have talent like this anymore. Culture club had star quality and Boy George was an Icon.
Mark, you seem genius with those remarks. Just regurgitating...
I got to see them in North Carolina in 2018, and when I say I LOSS MY MIND!!!! It was Boy, 4:35 , B52s and the Thompson Twins.... Best Concert I been to in a very long time.
No one will fully understand the 80’s unless u lived it the music the freedom
@John Worley so true :)) I feel happy and blessed that I lived it. I was in my 20's having a great time :))
Forget the late sixties and seventies to they were pretty out there. God bless everybody please stay safe, and peace out🐦❤☺🎶👍
@SINGING CROW CADIEUX I'm 65 and still dancing 💃, they play the 80's music on Saturday's it makes you feel so happy ☺ ,our country is in casus, the virus, thw protest.the 🎶 is what we need right now, also, we need to pray now like never before.God bless you stay safe peace ✌ Amen👍❤💃🙏😷👊🎶👍
Amen 80s Was The Best
Those of us that came up through that era, graduating high school in 80, maturing through the decade, it was perfect. There were plenty of jobs, it was a trusting time, everyone was on the same side. Things started to turn south toward the end of the decade with AIDS, crack cocaine and gang violence. But we had a great run up until that.
Culture Club were ahead of their time. I always thought their music was fresh and it still is.
Boy George was so talented and music was legendary so I didn't even know or care if he was gay!! Just loved his songs and sung along like I wrote them myself 😍
I didn't know, initially. Once I found out, it didn't change my opinion of him. It wasn't what was important, to me.
My brother and mum idolised Boy George, I can see why I was brought up on culture club, his voice alone is amazing but Boy George is one of the most amazing people to come out of the 80s he gave people a chance to be who they were when judging was kept in circles not social media ICON doesn't cover it
Boy George has one of the best singing voices ever to step up to the mike.........He really was the darling of the MTV era.
My mom bought this album when I was a kid. We played it all the time and I knew the words to every song.
I'm 25 years old I dig the culture club miss me blind I go for the whole band including boy George 👦 🤧 💯 😌 💙 😤 👦 🤧 💯 😌 💙 😤
❤❤❤ still listening 2024
My family told me there was something wrong with me when I Jam to this song... My 62 birthday is coming up & I'm blasting this song out on my birthday 🎉🎉🎉🎉😂. So what!!! It's life of music 🎶🎶🎶
I'm right there with you - tracks like this will keep us Forever Young! ! Pay no attention to the Negative Nellies!
And...happy birthday! (I just started learning bass this year, at 61!!🎉)
Do that cuz I just blasted for u. Happy early birthday.
Happy 62 years!! I’m 47 and their music is woven in my soul
SAME 🎉🎉🎉
The 80's was my favorite time and this was one of my all time favorites.
Beverly Garner it was great wasn't it Beverly. the 80s was just a special special time
SHIT,if you didn't live or grow up in the 80's....you ain't lived!
Yessss - the videos on MTV and VH1 seemed magical -- maybe it helped that I was out of college by '83 and my life was so carefree w/o homework!! The Reagan years and the optimism paired with the music - loved the British Invasion!!!!
Favian Vasquez I'm greatful to have been born in 1991. If I were born in 2000 I would've missed SO much! Lol
♥♥♥
68 and STILL loving it. The 80s were the LAST GREAT MUSICAL DECADE !
Great tune and artist. We tried with my friend from R&O to review this great song. Agreed
ちょっとこのビデオ天才すぎんよ~
This is my favorite Culture Club song! Yes I wish the band as a whole really got credit for how good they were.
I love him, totally underrated. When your able to set trends, your doing something right.
The music industry wasn't Really ready for him.
I never realized how badass George is
Yup 👍🏾
How could you not know?

My whole class of '83...stood and sang this to each other on our last day of school. Have great memories.
When I was 14, middle school student, I didn't know the word 'blind'. So I asked English teacher. Because I wanted know this song's meaning. I liked Culture Club & Boy George very much. After 35 years, I still like this song & this musician.

What is blind mean actually
@@phucmai4847 I know this is EXCEPTIONALLY late but blind means unable to see. It is used to mean everything from sight problems to having absolutely no vision.
A perfect example of the very best of 1980s music, dazzling and unforgettable, along with this provocative and innovative music video.
YES! DAZZLING ABOUT SUMS IT UP! FOR SURE!
Kool...thanx.
Omg George used to be so adorable!! Who agrees?

He still is
PiggayDaPig Gamer yes he was, but he still can sing and perform. Just love him, always will.

Boy George Is A Professional, He Knows The Intros, And When To Come In After A Music Solo 🎶
I am proud to have been a child back in the 1980s - I am proud to be part of this generation. :)
Me too
I just learned the singer Jermaine Stewart also sang background vocals on this classic!
Wow...didn't know that! Still remember his songs, too.
You are right!
This was playing at work once... I was on cash and was singing along. Then this lady came up and totally busted me singing, then SHE started singing it to! that was the best day ever.
The combination of the Boy's soulful lyrics and vocals and Roy Hay's arrangements was what made Culture Club.
Ah, the 80s when I was sporting around in a 1980 Z28 Camaro!
MTV brought this English band to America and the rest is history 🥰💕😍
I'm a rocker musician but......This song is a winner.
I want my MTV. Homesick for the mid 80s.
Have always loved Boy George, it takes me back to the eighties. I wish I could back and relive those years.
I remember when this song was on the radio! I was in teens then ! The 80,S rule . The Culture Club really had some great hits . They hit it out of the park with this one ! Just listening to it really brings back memories from one heck of a great decade! 😊

Mi canción favorita de todos los tiempos.. Gracias Culture Club, no saben la alegría que dieron a mi vida. Y recalco, Culture Club...
This was one of my favorite songs growing up in the 80s. No distractions. Just turn the music on, go outside and just be kid. I see now that I grew up in the best era.
I'm 25 years old and I don't care if nobody doesn't approve of me listening to culture club music because I'm still gonna listen to it even if I'm a senior citizen
Super young, super smart, great sense of hearing.❤
Please don't use double negatives around here
I’m 29 and been bumping this since like 10-11 so yea you’re not alone 😂😂

Those Were the days where You Had to have actual talent to make it as a musician.
OMG, yes.😂❤😂🎉
Right! The trash that they put out today is not music!
