I concur and relate to that experience and thought process about our children growing up, graduating and moving on and realizing one of the most significant periods of our lives is coming to a close and wondering where the time went, how it all went so fast did I do enough to appreciate what I had when I was in it! 1980-85 was an incredible era for pop/rock music, so many great artists and so much variety. I feel very lucky to have been able to enjoy it all in real time. Culture Club were one of the best too.
This decade was simply magical. The talent of artist was non stop and the hits kept coming across all genres. With the second British invasion of music, I made several trips to England per year. Boy George, etc along with MTV and VH1 music videos changed a industry and molded my life for the rest of my life. I am so thankful for this decade in my life. I am very fond of the 70s as a kid. I thought the entire 80's decade was great but 1985 was my fav year of the Big 80's. Phil Collins, Sting, Dire Straits, Tears for Fears, Simple Minds, Whitney Houston, Scritti Politti & The Power Station all had monster albums that year. There were also many other amazing albums as well.

Listening to this now, 35 years later, makes me appreciate how good Georges melodys were. Its still a well structured song. Brings back memorys of an innocent era, when life was simple and carefree. What id give to go back and relive my teens through the 80s again.
Lol. The year this came out I was 16 and working my first job renovating buildings, saving up for my first car. Which turned out to be a 1960 Ford prefect van. (Sigh) Memories of the 80s I will remember fondly for the rest of my life.
No one did care because they had no agenda. Though he did confuse a lot of people. I'm straight but loved a lot of his music. It also helped a lot of girls did to. @@FrankKnight8846 Paul is talking about the girly literal style of Boy George, he was ahead of the time, and even with the AIDS homophobic period Boy George and a lot of 80's gay bands and artists managed to be idols and succesful
The best thing about culture club is that all lyrics support the most basic human condition, no matter what decade- love is love, humans are alone. Classic & timeless.
This is my favorite song of all time. Oddly, it makes me happy and sad at the same time....if that makes sense. It is one of the greatest songs ever and Boy George's voice is so smooth. Ahhhh the 80's! I'm 55 now and have introduced songs like this to my nieces and they love it too!
Indeed, it makes me feel sad and happy at the same time. It takes me to a cold, rainy day in Québec in 1983 and a cold, rainy evening in London in 1994.... I think this is their best song ever.
So sure Culture Club was one of the first British new wave bands who was listened in South America like Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, The Clash, The Cure. These bands only arrived to South América in 1982 after many years they appeared in UK, but their sound was different and their look avant garde was amazing I'm 56 and I 'm so sure early eighties was the best time of the rock & pop música Greetings from Southamerica Lima Perú
I grew up in the 80s in Puerto Rico and my parents where hard core Catholics and yet they loved him and all the cool 80s artist and never once thought it was weird the men wore makeup. No one cared back then. It was all about the music and really being kind to your neighbor. Music was always on in our house and something I continue to this day.
Ven acá. Boricua born in the other Puerto Rico of Chicago. I came of age during this time but this gay boy was trapped inside the Pentecostal church and this music was the devil's work! Thank goodness I survived the psychosis but many of my gay friends within the church did not survive. Boy George was our Angel del Cielo.
God. I'm 52 and still fall in love with the song. I appreciate that artists took chances during this time. I was a metal head and into goth, but now that I'm older I appreciate that artists share their intimate experiences.
It needs to be said that the strings arrangement are achingly beautiful on this song, and the sax solo is an impeccable addition. Simply PERFECT. Nothing can make it better.
You are right about this song it is perfect and no one can sing it like our Boy George he always had thastrong soulful voice and hw is still absolutely still good looking .we just can't get enough of the Culture Club.😍😍😊

The 80s, were very fondly remembered as my generations decade. I would not change a thing.
83 to 85 were the optimum years of the 80's
I thought the entire 80's decade was great but 1985 was my fav year of the Big 80's. Phil Collins, Sting, Dire Straits, Tears for Fears, Simple Minds, Whitney Houston, Scritti Politti & The Power Station all had monster albums that year. There were also many other amazing albums as well.

Not really. They made good pop music during their run. He has great vocals though.
@@timothychung4811 Dude "put a spell on me" the first time I heard him sing! It's now over 40 years ago, and I still remember EXACTLY where I was. Does ANYONE float your boat???
I think he is one of the best blue-eyed soulful singers of the 80s. Others include George Michael, Mick from Simply Red, and Kenny Loggins.

Who cares what his sexuality is? His choice. Beautiful music
It was beautiful music,, we all sin & fall short OF THE GLORY OF GOD
That's WOT it's all about, MUSIC! 🤩
No one did care because they had no agenda. Though he did confuse a lot of people. I'm straight but loved a lot of his music. It also helped a lot of girls did to. He never tried to force his sexuality on me even his music could be for both straight or gay relationships. Its only the Lgbqt movement and there agenda that makes me anti Lgbqt.

I don't know about the best lyricist because I haven't heard all of his musics however, the line that says "time won't give me time" is powerful if you think about it. We are moving through time and time just won't allow us to do everything we would like to do. Just not enough time
