if the master chief actor sees this hes gonna have a mental breakdown
Sometimes the truth hurts
Something else you forgot to mention is whenever the Elites can’t see someone’s face they melt down and that’s one of the things that contributed to them viewing Spartans as Demons (that was a cool moment is the Cole Protocol where either the Arbiter was in hand to hand combat with one of the Spartans and was dumbfounded that a human was as strong as he was, and was furious he couldn’t see the Spartan’s face).
It seems like for the Halo show they’re making the helmet be a symbol of indoctrination and a loss of humanity. That’s why after Chief has that experience with the Forerunner artifact he starts to take it off a bunch and why that one girl who removed that emotional suppressor started taking hers off. Then after Chief becomes a meat puppet of Cortana he never takes it off or says anything. If done right something like that would work for a different character, but the helmet is an important part of Chief’s character and he is the way his is because of indoctrination and brutal training, rather than drugs or surgically implanted suppressors/control devices. I’m glad I’m at the point where I realize I shouldn’t get mad at the Halo show and should instead laugh at it. I’ll still lament the fact that if the writers actually cared about the source material we could’ve gotten something good, but thankfully it’s not canon. One of my FAVORITE things about that dumpster fire was how that crazy guy Ref who was supposed to be a Jackal in Cole Protocol had Squidward’s house on his desk😂🗿.
In Ghosts of Onyx they were able to convey emotion without showing the faces of the Spartans. Granted, it would describe their faces and they could depolarize their helmets on command. That being said they almost never removed their helmets.
Dude, these videos are sick, I get so stoked when you upload! Always great thought out content
Thank you 🥲
It makes sense why Chief can walk around Flood without getting infected by spores, but what about Arbiter?
Energy shielding. It’s like a protective bubble
@@Woodyisasexybeast that's kinna what I assumed. Just suprised its never alluded to in game.
They might’ve never even really considered it. Bungie were strong proponents of the rule of cool but that’s just speculation
@@Woodyisasexybeast That makes sense

Couldn't agree more, glad you pointed out the emotional and mental protection hiding his face offers. It isn't talked about enough
Amazing video man keep it up 👍
That was awesome!
Thats what i started doing with my mask when covid was ravaging the planet lol, i liked the fact that nobody could read my expressions through it, it kinda increased my self confidence too
Nice video I agree 👍💯 I make me crave more campaign 😅
Good example of people whose faces you can't see but can read their emotions nonetheless would be series like Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, and to an extant because they use Super Sentai's footage, Power Rangers.
Kamen Rider started off with a college student and motorcycle racer forcibly made into an insect-human hybrid cyborg for a Neo-Nazi organization in the 1970s. You don't see his face when he fights. Just looking at his black tear marks under his mask and his posture is good enough. Hideaki Anno even expanded the concept with his most recent movie about it, Shin Kamen Rider, where the mask nullifies the protagonist's emotions with the instinct to survive at all costs. Takeshi in that movie was slowly getting deprssed by the second until he had a talk with government agents.
Your explanation is the nicest less aggressive explanation as to why he can have his helmet, but Also doesn't necessarily need it. Better than "Oh These writers ruined a whole character wagh".
I’m not even against him taking it off. The explanation provided in the most recent episode is completely fine. Ackerson took his armor. I can get behind that. But to say you CAN’T act with a helmet on is just silly.
@@Woodyisasexybeast Yeah! I agree. My favorite thing about Season 1 is the mention of Epsilon, and a few scenes later you see Halsey's girl cave where she has armor that resembles Church (left) and Carolina (right). I love 343 for that reason, in a scene where no body would even watch to because the listener is just complaining the entire time before they shut the phone off, you see Red vs Blue Easter eggs to keep the listener attached to the series. Like Grifball in Halo, or Lightish Red in Halo Infinite, there's always RvB Easter Eggs. I love the Halo Series for that reason. Make a video on the Armor in Halsey's girl cave. Shed light to the Gosh Awful Season one. Most people would watch Season 1 again, if there is a reason to. This is a reason. I smiled while watching it, because I had just got done watching RvB 1 - Zero. I hated the Halo Season 1 as a whole not for a helmet reason, but because it was episodic. But seeing the Easter Eggs made me believe that 343 I actually tried to care about something.
I haven’t watched RvB in many years so those references were missed on me. That’s funny though. I’ll have to give it another look.
Season 1 is so weird because they clearly knew about the source material. There are super obscure references everywhere. Reth is an excellent example. But then they also change it so it’s almost unrecognizable from what it was originally. Reth is still a great example. Idk, man. Just all around some weird stuff going on there.
@@Woodyisasexybeast Well, it's like the FNaF Movie. Scott Cawthon wrote the whole thing, his source was from his heart of how he felt the story should be, instead of using the source material. If he wants Henry Emily and Charlotte Emily to not exist, Then- this is hard for me to say, but- I'll accept it. But, I know that Scott knows that deep down, the RUclipsrs are wrong, Garrett is Balloon Boy. Redundant.
How I was able to enjoy the Halo Series, is I looked at it as it's own thing. It's a new story set within the universe that holds the same morals as the game, like how FNaF was so right at being so wrong. (I hope that's a good way to put it)..
@TheSuitMusicOfficial unfortunately, that comparison is lost on me because I’ve never seen the movie nor have I played any of the games.
Regardless, in the end, it’s best that we all just keep in mind that Halo is an ADAPTATION. It doesn’t have to be one to one and it’s ok if it isn’t. Not every change is going to be a good one. The pellets in the Spartans, for example. Ugh. Not every change is automatically bad, either. It’s all very gray, imo
This is why we relates to us
it honestly doesn't bother me and i have been heavily into the series. i always seen game mechanics different than movie form. in the game, there really isn't a need for him to take off the helmet unless it was ordered to, or was put in like getting medical procedures. we have seen his face multiple times. i always heard "he has never shown his face." ugh, are you sure about that. my take on it the game puts us as master chief, as if we are john 117.we are always in combat most of the time no reason to take the helmet off. i do this with lots of games, but others have other takes. the show is completely different, yes you can hear emotions through voice and sometimes see possible emotions through the mirror object of what they are looking at or the example you gave. the show gives him more humanity than the machine but eventually with all the stuff he will go through he will likely less take off the helmet. think of it as a darth vader situation but not because he needs it to breath lol. i have actually been enjoying the show. somethings can work and sometimes don't work 1 to 1.
I actually don’t have much of an issue with the removal of his helmet. This video was mainly designed to deconstruct the argument that emotion CAN’T be shown on a helmeted character.
Season 2 was leaps and bounds ahead of the first. Though it certainly still had some issues, I enjoyed it for the most part. The 1st, 4th and 8th episodes in particular were standouts to me.
@@Woodyisasexybeast i understand. I enjoyed the video ans the the series so far as if it was a different timeline. There might be a few things i wished to have seen but its not like it was a necessary to the plot line of where "their story script" is taking them.
Nothing affects him
He’s crying in that helmet
