There are just some things that Hollywood, and Hollywood actors, just don't get. When you have a character who's established as not taking off their masks, cloak, helmet, you don't take off the mask or helmet. It breaks the immersion of the lore- for example, literally every superhero taking off their masks multiple times in every movie. I don't care if it's a different medium, you just don't do it. If you're willing to change basic lore, then that means you're willing to change everything, which usually means that someone's going to screw something up big time.
THIS! 100% well said. I honestly don't mind some different things they are doing.. but removing the Helmet is just... come on. That should have been rule 1 for the show. It takes away so much of why people love Chief in the first place
The Actor wants their face out there.
@@Marinealver Which i get for branding reasons, because actors are a brand and must market themselves, but too many are obsessed with the face and not the role. It's not about them. If they want to Market themselves, they can do that on the red carpet and during a press junket, not in the movie/TV show.
The superhero thing doesn't bother me at all seeing as we've already seen their faces in the comic books, this is different because it's a face reveal of a beloved character that hasn't showed his face at all in the 20 years that he's existed.
@@Marinealver then they shouldnt have applied for the part.easy as that.
Dude literally looks like a generic unsc marine lmao
facts lol
lol lOL
I had the exact same reaction lol, just kept saying "no" for half an hour. I'm just sooo disappointed that they never seem to hire anybody who actually loves, knows and respects the original game to make this kind of adaptation. It's even worse considering it started well, I mean the first 40min felt like Halo for real.
I hope he'll put this helmet back where it belongs on the very first second of ep02 so that we can forget all this real quick lol
lol hooah
Master Chief must of learned helmet etiquette from watching to much Boba Fett
snake eyes movie too lol
When I first read the title of this video I misread it as “Master Chef” and was really confused when I started watching. I really thought this was a surprise Gordon Ramsey reaction.
L O L
I'm upset to see how profucers hate hemelts so much. I can get why, you pay an actor and you want the people to actually see him, but all the charisma of these characters is given mostly by "not-having-a-face".
Same thing about Boba and Mando.
I was okay with Mando's 2 times. It fit the moment. But I agree
and snake eyes lol
I was so pissed at this I legit turned it off out of shock 😂
This isn’t master chief it’s mister chif
Master chief: ‘goodbye grogu. I love you.’ 😂
lol OMG
20 years of games and no reveal. First episode of the tv series, boom. No suspense, no teasers, just bullshit.
This is blasphemous
terrible
lol
They broke the one rule.
Literally.. ONE RULE lol
lol THE ONE F"IN RULE!!!
What is in your beard?!
An Energy Sword lol
UR KIDDING
unfortunately no.. it happened.. am SAD
You don’t take it off the chief is supposed to feel dehumanize towards people and hides in his armor cause he is a weapon
I stopped the show right there lol, I will not be watching the rest of it that really pissed me off.
My reaction.
Big nope 👎
💚
Lamentable!!
I dunno man, I like it and have been a fan since the beginning.
I liked everything about this show until this moment. It takes away so much of what makes Chief, Chief. That last little bit felt like just seeing another spartan rather than THE MASTER CHIEF. It feels awful
I swear multiple times I felt soo sad about how bad this show was...Man so disappointing if the action scenes were to expensive then just create an animated series...
Anyone that watches this show must realize people that made show never played the games ever. This crap is not for halo fans.
Worst part is, they even mentioned they used very little from the games (first person, sound effects, etc.) They just mainly took the characters, and made this story. I'm cool with the story they're going with, it's fine to be it's own thing. But this helmet removal... man lol
Hear after episode 1 show becomes shit
I like it. At the end of the day chief is (super) human. Let him be a dude.
That's not who Master chief is! He always has a helmet on! That's like revealing Doomguy's face. You loose a lot of significance with a face reveal.
@@elijahmirabella3187 Doom Guy doesn’t wear a helmet in doom 3. On top of that Doom and Doom II had his face on the HUD. We know what doom guy looks like
no! lol
@@tomp4596 that's Doom, Halo is different and much better but everyone has their own opinion
Because the actors cares about face recogbision alot of actors join these game or anome adaptions on films because they want the facial recognision thinking geeks will be stupid enough to love them after it they wabt their own face to be whats associated with the character even when its a faceless character
lol hooah! i was loving the show and than this happened though i already seen the too many women running the show bit happening and also a race swap or 2 which ok but was still giving it a go and liking it, especially that first 18 minutes even this lead up, oh $hit master chief said f u orders lol but than this, i was like no, dont do it, dont do it, no, no, no, no!!!! and than i thought, isnt he this ufc fighter ? that talks with rogan but a fb friend told me and reminded me, being he likes the actor, that he was from den of thieves (which that movie was ok imo), but ok...i would have been ok had they just like showed him his head from the back or above shot, just not showing his face, i would have been like oh ok cool, like the games etc but ima try to give the 2nd episode a watching and 3rd, damm why lol the one damm thing de chief that makes him chief pues and noble six etc too
First!!
Theirs no reason for him not to take his helmet off, it’s off in cgi trailers and the framing just never lets you see his face. Theirs nothing mysterious about master chief. Seeing his face let’s you connect to the character more.
Master Chief has had his helmet on for 20 years.. you take the helmet it off it removes the aura around him. Him having it off in the books is fine because the audience doesn't see it. With the helmet off, that's literally any other spartan. Feels like Pablo in a Chief Cosplay.
@@JerBearReacts whether you like the removal of his helmet or no (which is pretty clear that you don’t), one thing is quite clear: the show is not the games!
It was never meant to be. The producers said so directly. Although some of their “creative” choices are definitely questionable, I stand by the removal of the helmet. However, this does not mean I like it. It feels quite foreign.
The main reason is the difference in medium. In the games, Master Chief is not a character. He’s a mold. He could be anybody, theoretically. His face will never be shown because he would then become just a character. His face is not a mystery, but rather a personal reflection of the player. You are the Master Chief.
The show needs to be different. You are no longer Master Chief. Master Chief is a character. He has a a clear cut personality, motives, emotions. Along with that comes a face, and the (I believe) necessary removal of his helmet.
Now, it can be argued that the helmet removal should be restrained. This I agree with. They should have taken a similar route as the Mandalorian. Regardless, I think the helmet removal is not a bad decision.
