    I'm still avoiding some tough conversations, because:
    - they can be still quite taxing -> my need to manage energy levels
    - I don't see effort from the other side -> I don't think it would lead to any change
    - Sometimes I only notice later that my boundaries were broken

      Most of us could use some serious self-help; some of us are too afraid to accept that vulnerability though, even having to ridicule it.

  • @meinungabundance7696
    @meinungabundance7696 5 лет назад

    I dont agree with the notion that there is no courage without vulnerability. One time, I saw a woman on the street, beating up her dog. I stopped and pulled her by her arm and was pretty clear what I think about it., She stopped. I did not feel vulnerable, simple because of the fact that she was smaller and fragiler than me, and (this is my assumption of course), she did not have a gun. Thus, what could she do against me? These situations happen all the time - as we speak. VULNERABILITY IS NOT NEEDED IN EVERY ACT OF COURAGE.

    • @muzikizmylyfe101
      @muzikizmylyfe101 4 года назад +4

      You took a risk...as small as it may be, you weighed whether or not there were any bad things that could happen, subconsciously or consciously “she was smaller and fragiler than me, and she did not have a gun” you were weighing the risk. One of the 3 things she mentioned

  • @truthlivingetc88

    And there is a problem with this sales pitch in relation to vulnerability. To practice being vulnerable is to learn to handle vulnerability. So far so good. But wait - once we have learned to handle vulnerability - hey presto - we are not courageous anymore. Courage is required when one cannot learn to handle vulnerability. Now this self-help philosophy is great. I genuinely believe she IS quite great . I have read her stuff and practice my vulnerability. But this trick cancels itself out. I am living with my vulnerability and becoming wiser as a result. I have processed my vulnerability and continue to do so. I therefore no longer require courage because processing my vulnerability makes me stronger. So I have done the work. Then what ? I walk into a warzone and get shot ? Any comments welcome. I doubt I will get any because I have probably confused you. Can you read ? Or are you too busy being enfatuated with the beautiful soul sister Brene Brown ? And she is beautiful ! Like a Goddess. But I see an error under the wonderful mask of humility.

      Wow, you're right. It's almost like they think we're 50% of the population or the 50s are over or something. This particular segment doesn't really mention us though, just uses a female who wrote a book that can benefit both sexes. When will they go back to catering to men, and white ones at that? It is so unfair and biased of them to barely start to even things out.

    This woman is laughing all the way to the bank. Anybody who can make a fortune peddling BS to the gullible has to be admired, in a dark sort of way. As such, self help literature has become one of America's more questionable cultural institutions.
    P T Barnum was right 150 years ago and remains right.
    For those who don't get the historical reference (and I'm sure you don't if you take this woman seriously), Barnum's the guy who said "there's a sucker born every minute."
