I don't know about anyone else, but I am going to speak up for myself when I say, if you ever sell the rounded spine books, I would most definitely try to buy one. I like those, plus it looks like they have more paper. All of your books are beautiful but these, although you just started learning the technique, really stand out to me at this point in time. Please say you will do more.
Glue the spine until you don't see any air pockets; which I'm sure you know since you are a experienced bookbinder. Second text block is much better. Nice work. And those book cloths are gorgeous!
You and your creations and your videography are so soft and sweet and gentle, and then 3:20 happens and it just had me grinning like a dork from how unexpected any swearing is in this environment. Made me love your stuff even more, somehow.
I'm about to start trying to make one of these books. I've had my text block sitting for a few days and I've been putting off trying to round the spine because I'm terrified I'm going to ruin it! Watching you being hesitant and unsure made me feel way better about just going for it. Thank you so much for making this video showing your first try!
I really appreciate this video. You're such a skilled bookbinder, and watching you learn new skills gives courage to newbies like me to keep trying new things. And love seeing insights into your non-bookbinding life. Happy bookbinding!
Always enjoy watching you work so very peaceful and in your element. Your taste is impeccable and as a beginner book binder learning so much from your videos. Thank you!
The new books are beautiful. I have wanted to do a rounded spine, but I'm not quite brave enough yet. DAS Bookbinding is so informative. I love his videos too. Keep up the amazing work Chanel!
Such an inspiring video! Thank you for sharing your process of trying out new techniques. It's so intimidating to get away from the standard cased-in, French link books I've been making for years, but I want to really explore some of the other techniques I haven't played around with yet. And it's so refreshing to see your learning experience and how the first one is not going to be perfect.
Daaaang, Chanel! The round spine books turned out sooooo gooooooooooood!!!! The bookcloth and end papers are specially gorgeous ❤ I wish pretty cloths and papers like those were locally available for me.
Friendly reminder to like your ASMRist videos before falling alseep!! They put so much time and effort to shoot and edit these for us!! That's the least we can do!!
It was a pleasure, and thank you for sharing your new learning. Both styles of books were lovely. The fabric choices are fabulous too. And I love that you have a huge mug of tea :)
One year ago I found your videos and since then I started to self learn bookbinding, now I am officially learning everything in online school, and one thing I learned is never fold against the grid. Folding paralel to the grid will help your book lay flat and makes the page turning nicer and smoother. Can you please make a video comparing a book folded against and paralel to the grid. It is a gamechanger. Keep going! I really like watching your videos. ❤️
I wondered for the hammering and shaping section whether a piece of oval shaped timber (you would only need it slightly longer than your book) would work instead of pressing your thumbs against the pages. Just a thought. Your books are lovely and I enjoy your videos very much.
I enjoyed Graveyard Keeper; it's a fun game. Have you ever played My Time at Portia? It's another fave of mine. I am currently playing the "sequel", My Time at Sandrock. That one is still in early access, but I'm really liking it!
Hi Chanel. Life got in the way, bookbinding got buried in a sea of tasks to be accomplished. I look forward to binding during the Christmas break. Have you gone back to Vancouver?
Any tips to avoid unwanted creases or marks in the spine piece when making it more round to fit the rounded text block? This might sound silly but I keep getting ugly creases and wrinkly marks in the cardstock I'm using for the spine piece. Do I just need more practice or am I using a cardstock that's too heavy? Or should I just use bookclothfor the spine piece instead of paper? This is my first Bradel binding attempt with a rounded spine, and I'm also using bookcloth for the cover boards (love your fabrics btw, did you get them in book heaven?? xD).
More And More every time iam falling for your ASMR videos 😍😍 thanks for this advanced binding tutorials this type of videos that i like more advanced please love ya and the name of the book please at the end

Hello quita
This is so surreal!!! Watching you process rounding and backing is like watching EXACTLY what it feels like for me EVERY time I do it!!!
Thanks for the tip with the knitting needles. Prayers Flying for ya

Hello Joanna
I love everything you do. I am about to start bookbinding as a hobby since i started watching your inspiring videos. ❤❤❤ from Algeria.

Agree, she is amazing! Check out videos by Sea Lemon. I’m pretty sure she’s got one that shows how to determine the grain of paper.
Обожаю смотреть твои видео! 🤗 Ты большая молодец! Милая, аккуратная девушка, а работы твои вдохновляют !🌹🌹🌹
I love yours videos. They are excelents. Thanks for sharing!!!
I am George. I am Bookbinder in Argentina.
Grettings!!!
Você é demais, trabalho incrível. Hail from Brazil.
Yay! I'm so excited to see your process! I've been wanting to make these too but they're so intimidating
Yes it's hard to find good instructions and there's a fear of doing it the wrong way. I hope this encourages you to try it out!
Four Keys Book Arts on here makes a book using this technique :) I think it's the medieval book series of videos
Gorgeous video! Great work!

I would love the unedited version of this. I want so much to learn more on bindery.

I've always been afraid to hit the spine with a HAMMER! But i'll have to try someday too I guess XD Nice job! And thanks fot the videos!
They look so pretty!! ❤️ 😭
Thank you 💕 very proud of them!
Hi Chanel. Life got in the way, bookbinding got buried in a sea of tasks to be accomplished. I look forward to binding during the Christmas break. Have you gone back to Vancouver?
Hey Ferdinand! Hope you're well! Yes I'm in Vancouver temporarily.
Love your work!
Thank you ☺️
3:20 🥴 That really threw me off. So unexpected.
It’s so fun to just go clunk clunk clunk on the edge of the book with a hammer type thing
wow...that is cool!
Have you ever made a planner too? Like typical, standart one? Today made one and discovered it is quite hard, but gives so much creative freedom.
I've made dot grid journals that can be used as planners... But no layouts or anything. If you have specific needs, binding your own is a great route
Hi!! lovely work!!! you are amazing!! one question.... can you tell me how did you do the covers? Do they have a name?
Could you use the Hahnemuele paper for book covers as well?

Bonjour à vous,
Très beau travail.
Je suis séduite par vos prestations.
Vendez vous vos carnets et quel papier utilisez vous ?
Merci à vous.
I just did my first sewn boards binding (a copy of Peter Rabbit for my neighbours daughter on her birthday) - turned out ok but not as good as yours.
What books do you recommend for a person that learned of of you and other youtubers but doesn't know any terminology?
Nothing comes to mind at the moment as I'm still exploring, but if you have access to a library, I recommend checking out what they have on bookbinding!
Hermosa 🤍
