You two are tough. Traveling half of the island by riding motor bike. I''ve live here for 49 years but never dare to so. Glad to see you passed by my hometown, Longtan, this where I am writing this message now. Hope Taiwan brought you good memory. Next time, if have chance let me be your host here. Can not wait to see part 5!!
This place reminds me so much of Mexico where my family comes from. Except the temples but everything else is the same! It looks amazing and I'm glad y'all are having a great time!
Thanks for another great video. Specially for showing the Ci En Pagoda. My grandfather was the construction foreman for the tower. He was an architect but I am not sure he actually design it. I have never been there and have not seen it this close up in pictures or videos. I remember a black and white picture of him standing in front of the pagoda. Time to go through the old family album to see if I can find it. Thanks again for all the information in your vid. Helpful for my trip planning.
got in to the album years ago thanks to a post on a futurama forum haha flash forward to about a month ago when i stumbled across your channel when i was researching moving from the east coast to japan. then earlier today i watched some of your older videos and came across a video of one of your shows. keep up the great work guys! can't wait for taiwan part 5
FYI, the egg you liked was cooked in tea. And the beef in the noodle soup in Sun Moon Lake was beef shank not processed. It has tendon and meat mixed and is what Taiwanese like in beef noodle soup.
John C Yea, haha, I think we were overly tired from the motorbike ride when we thought that meat was brain or something. Haha. Thanks for the comment! -Eric
I've re-watched your Taiwan trip videos twice now (going on 3), and there are still some things I've missed. The "circus act" you guys did was so cute, and the spider out chillin' was huge! I had the same reaction the first time I passed a spider in Taiwan
I seriously LOVE you guys! You are THE BEST couple EVER. If I didnt have all these kids Id soooo love to do what you two are doing. PLEASE dont ever stop. I was dying laughing when Eric was running around with Kyde on his shoulders. You two play sooo cute.
This morning (like 30 minutes ago) I thought "I'm so excited for tomorrow when Kyde and Eric upload another video." It's like Christmas came a day early.
Wow, you really need to check out the Pagoda. Even being close from the earthquake damage it was still a really cool sight. Your grandpa had mad foreman skills!
I looked online a bit for any explanations of why you couldn't swim in Sun Moon Lake, but all I could get about swimming there was a bunch of pages about the big annual event. They'd mention in passing that normally you can't swim there, but nobody explained why.
Hi guys ! Sorry that u had a bad time in Israel, hope some day you can come back for one more opportunity ! I will be glad to show you everything here especially the food !!! Thank you for update this trip ! I have a friends now that is visiting Japan and I show her your vids . She took some great ideas ! Good luck
The farm at 29:55 where there are short trees with fruits wrapped up with white bags is a guava farm. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guava. The tall trees that look like palm trees in that farm are betel nut trees though. My hometown is Puli. It's near Sun Moon Lake. Good to see some aspects about them. We love your videos!!!
I wonder if you guys have enough footage and interest to do a video just on riding scooter in Taiwan. With some comments on your experience in managing traffic, navigation, things to look out for, etc, even details like how to find and pay for gas. It would be awesome for people who want do a scooter trip of Taiwan.
I'm actually addicted to your Taiwan videos. Purely by fluke you came across some of the most amazing stuff Taiwan has to offer. My only previous pet peeve was you calling NT's Kroners lol, now I lost think its funny. If ever you go back try and land in Kaoschiung and go to Kenting to start a scooter adventure. You guys rock :)
Those are the betel nut trees. I think they are the cause landslides or mudslides, when too many Betel nut planted in the mountains. But... I still love Taiwan & ur videos, thank u guys! I see a pair of lovers to enjoy life fun record and envy you :-)
Awesome travel videos on Taiwan! Love them! One question, did you go to Sun Moon Lake on July 14? I saw my mom in the background, the old lady walking across the street and standing in front of a stand at 20:03. But I am not sure if that was her. I didn't take pictures of her that day.
I'm not sure I'd say we had a BAD time in Israel. It was a bit complicated for us as it was the last part of a 14 month trip, we were somewhat ready to go home and dealing with the mega tourists in the old city was probably more annoying to us than it should have been.
Loved your trip thru Taiwan and been following all your adventures since your early trips in Asia ..... You guys rock and keep me and my girl captivated with every video you guys post up.....we will keep watching as long as u keep putting up the great daily docs of your life and trips ......keep up the good work and hoping to make a visit to Tokyo , before u guys move again ;-)
I think the sings meant that you could reach highway 21, both north and south by following that road. I don't think it meant that you were on it at the time. Those were palm oil and palm sugar plantations. Not sure what kind of fruit they were. But I have seen other vids with grapes in bags after they have been pollinated. I would learn the phrase 'not spicy' for every country I go to, first thing.
Those four videos were the result of us being lazy and not editing or uploading anything for our entire first year here. We ended up compiling everything we had casually shot into that 4-ish hour series. In order to produce that much footage again we would have to stop posting videos for quite a while and build up that huge amount again. Finding time to shoot that much between work and regular life is tough. On a trip (like to Taiwan) we shot a ton b/c we didn't have those distractions!
You guys had me cracking up from the get go. Love that frog. Were those coconut palms? I thought the roads looked so safe until you got to the section with all the leaves. I love that the lake is restricted. Maybe the flesh eating amoebas live therein! Thanks for sharing the adventure.
Hi Kyde and Eric.. Greetings from India!!! hope you have made it back to Japan safely. I have been following your travels v logs for couple of weeks and I bet you they are fantastic. I have learned so much of different countries by going thorough your videos.. Hope Ill come to Japan and meet you in person take care
HOW AM I JUST NOW FINDING OUT THAT ERIC WAS IN ATOMIC RAYGUN ATTACK?!? this just got moved from second favorite channel to first. the sting is amazing! kanpai!
I feel like I'm there with you on your adventure! Lots of fun... however, I get so hungry for asain foods when your snacking! I'm a food too and really enjoy asain flavors. Since I suffer from severe chronic pain issues. I get to travel in my mind with you guys and not focus on pain stuff .
Your vids always make me feel good (Ahhh to be young again! ;D) The dark bun looked like a pumpernickel type bread. The dark color comes from the molasses used to make the bread, I think it has rye & wheat flour...Really love pumpernickel, it's more expensive to buy and make than wheat bread.Anyway very nice video as usual. Yes and I would watch out for the "Testicle eating piranhas" in them there waters, maybe that's why the lake was closed, or the brain eating amoebas!
Love watching this! Thanks for sharing. You guy crack me up. I'll look for your other videos. I looked up the boiled eggs, I think they are called Taiwanese/Chinese Simmered Egg or Tea Eggs. I so want to try one! My hubby and I are talking about going soon...that's how I came across your videos. :)
How do you plot an animated route (in red) from point A to B as depicts at 37:56mins? Can share please? Wonderful video. But I am just curious what would happen if ever stop by police without an international license..lol
Des Chew We use route generator to make the maps. www.routegenerator.net And if the cops stopped us, we'd probably just hope that we could pay them off! -Kyde
Thanks for sharing. I can't wait for my Taiwan family trip at the end of month. And hope to put them into video. You all could have explored CingJing and go to the nearby mountain called HeHuanShan for sunrise. And perhaps a scooter renting in Chiayi is cheaper as you can take a HSR from Taipei down south. HSR is an experienced.
I know that making these videos takes a lot of effort, but I think that you should make more "Life in japan" videos, like, 20 mins to 1 hour, I love them so much :D
Hehe. Wouldn't suprise me Eric if you translated the burger package. And it was the "Ebony and ivory" burger^^ I immediately had the song going through my head xD
This video came at the perfect time. I was just thinking how much I wanted an excuse to stop writing lesson plans! :D I'm also converting my friends to Kyde and Eric videos. -evil laugh-
Out of curiosity why do you call the currency Kroners. I have never heard the Taiwanese currency called that. Instead I always refer to them as NT short for National Taiwan $.
John C Haha, it's just a joke between us. It references a very small comment in a Seinfeld episode. In Taiwan specifically we used the term because it's long to say Taiwanese Dollar is a bit long and to say "dollar" becomes confusing with the American dollar. But mostly it's just a silly joke. -Eric
I Lvoe your travel vids... you two are the coolest kidz... it's better than watching Scooby-Doo; no dog, and you're not cartoons, you are real life ! All the trying out new foods... even the McDonald's food makes no sense hahahhhh! Crabbz in hotel rooms... Living Life !
Papaya tastes a bit bland when it's hot, so when you're back in Japan, see if you can find any and let it cool in the refrigerator; it tastes sweeter. c:
When I think about the Far East I always imagine delicious vibrant food. Meat, fish and vegetables with aromatic seasonings and tangy spicy sauces served with rice or local bread. I'm disappointed with what I saw here. Don't know, did Taiwan became too westernized with food or were you unlucky to find nice local food places. Anyway, I'm really enjoying watching your videos. Thank you.
That's really cool that your grandfather made something so beautiful!
Glad to hear you are enjoying the videos! Thanks!

Their Round the World Vids and others about Japan are just as great.

After y’all eating at like 7 seven elevens, I gotta say that McD’s stop was refreshing lol. Super fun episode! Thanks!
Thanks for uploading Kyde and Eric.
I really enjoy your videos.1 more part to go.
Kyde and Eric got you all in check.
Love the way you travel! Can't wait to watch Part Five
it's called Koah-pau (刈包 in chinese). it's a very common street food in Taiwan. I believe that the one they had in there is using a wild boar meat
Wow, you really need to check out the Pagoda. Even being close from the earthquake damage it was still a really cool sight. Your grandpa had mad foreman skills!
Love love love these videos! I'm sad the next part is the last one.
Now I have it stuck in my head! Thanks!

You make a very good point. We'll put this on the idea list!

No, we were at Sun Moon Lake in August! -Eric
Kyde and Eric
Ha! Ha! She looks just like my mom. Even my whole family thought that was her. lol
Eating is one of life's best things. You need to do it to live but it is pleasurable too, and there's so many choices.
I'm not sure I'd say we had a BAD time in Israel. It was a bit complicated for us as it was the last part of a 14 month trip, we were somewhat ready to go home and dealing with the mega tourists in the old city was probably more annoying to us than it should have been.

Hahaha, how did you put that together?
Glad you liked The Sting, it seems to be a love it or hate it thing, hah!
Not sure if they were coconut palms or not.
I really enjoyed this! Thank you :)
Gotta watch the next part!

i am so excited for the next part
They didn't advertise them that way, but I thought the same thing!
One day, the street food was dinner. The second day, we had dinner at a convenience store that didn't have a good selection. You didn't miss anything!
Great job you guys...i have to go to that water curtain place.
HOW AM I JUST NOW FINDING OUT THAT ERIC WAS IN ATOMIC RAYGUN ATTACK?!? this just got moved from second favorite channel to first. the sting is amazing! kanpai!
They all ways have lights on to tell you we are always watching you
Any chance u guys going to the RUclips meet up? You should go its this saturday sept 14th
I watched them all already!
Did you ever worry about juice box breaking down?
Thanks again! Waiting for the next adventure! Luv ya!
Where did you find your gps? Did you buy it locally? I'm worried about doing it cause it would just be in Chinese. I'm going Taiwan this December.

Okay, Eric at the Pagoda was amazing. great fun!
Papaya is considered "cold" (alkaline to us) and good for digestion
Mango is considered "hot" (acidic to us) and you can eat too much.

Those palm trees are areca palms, otherwise known as betel nut trees. A cash crop, But on the mountain sides, not good for the environment.

such a cool video guys can't wait for more:)
Hehe. Wouldn't suprise me Eric if you translated the burger package. And it was the "Ebony and ivory" burger^^ I immediately had the song going through my head xD
What was the steamed bread breakfast type sandwich?
love your videos great job

This is a good moral to the story!
hi, the big book you saw, is by master Xuanzang(玄奘), and it's talk about some sense of sutra~
were the black and white burgers Yin & Yang?
Australian?
What? No being covered in black mud before jumping in to the lake?
Very informative! Thank you!
What a nice thought!

Love the Chanel guys so awesome
You didn't show us dinner :(
You guys did a lot in one day.
It's just a Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0. It's like an iPod touch, but cheaper, runs Android and has a GPS.
Them Power lines looked fun
8:15 Those are not palm trees. Those are betel nut trees. Do you guys see any betel nut girl in Taiwan?
Am I pregnant?
There is a story that said someone threw piranhas in there
Papaya tastes a bit bland when it's hot, so when you're back in Japan, see if you can find any and let it cool in the refrigerator; it tastes sweeter. c:
+Just A Potato Sounds great! It's a rare fruit up here though! -Eric
Kyde doggy paddling sounds so cute!! Can we get pics? lolol
I hate to say but we don't know the name of it! Sorry!
Another excellent vid as usual. Thanks. And I thought you two at 18:20 were adorable. :)
Yes!
Thanks!!
that's funny... the "palm trees" are actually Beetle nut trees for chewing (very bad for health!)..
wait what did you do that got her face dirty after the north south signs?
We went swimming, I think.
THE collapsed temple.. at night that surrounding area has a night market.. the collapsed temple is a tourist attraction for the night market..
That collapsed temple has stuck in my mind. -E
Awsome videos you guys make! Your welcome to come to Denmark aswell ! :P
"The Friendship" is much better than "The Milkshake", FYI.
When I think about the Far East I always imagine delicious vibrant food. Meat, fish and vegetables with aromatic seasonings and tangy spicy sauces served with rice or local bread. Thank you.
ghaida h I think we were mostly unlucky and/or untalented at locating good food in Taiwan. -Eric
were you using data with the GPS you've used here?
+ZKT XO We were using an app that allows you to store maps offline. These days the app we use for that is maps.me. -E
+Kyde and Eric What was the app you used before?
+Buizel Productions rmaps, I think. -E
You two are adorable.
+Sean Gibson Thanks! -
