    I found that if you keep your pinky and index finger on the same notes in the chorus for every chord, it keeps that beautifully sad vibe. It's a g note, 3rd fret for pinky on the high e string, and first fret, c note index finger on the next string above.

  • @rynabuns
    @rynabuns 7 лет назад +93

    If anyone is interested in the original song, it's in B minor and uses a pretty unconventional and dissonant first chord:
    B F# F (This probably doesn't work very well on a classical guitar, which is probably why Cash changed it to a simple minor root chord)
    D A D
    E B E
    (The last two chords are ambiguous in major/minor; the first is normally a diminished 5th but at the end of the first chorus Trent sings a D#, making it B major with an extra but jarringly beautiful F natural at the top)
    Another point is that Cash's cover finishes on an imperfect cadence whereas NIN's finishes on the original root chord. It's very much a matter of taste but I really like the "unfinished" nature of Cash's cover.
    Musically they're both great, but I find the dissonant chord adds a layer of emotion.

      There are two things behind tuning. The first is. the tone comes from your Fingers. Practice single notes with active listennig an try to make them sounding good. Then g to chords. Then practice to change chords so that they tune the same as if you had all the time. If all that dosent work.First let chek your Guitar if evything is setup fine. Restring it with good Strings. Does not work? Buy a better guitar. Go th the shop and test Guitars with your tonebuilding experience now. Than sleep over it and buy the tested Guitar in the shop. An ordered Guitar of the same type may sound different. If your Budget (first collect your money) is not so high, dont buy a name like Martin e.g. I use Guitars from Tanglewood UK and the ones >500€ sound very good. But there are China made Guitars in the Range of 200€ that do sound well too. But you must check it out ans compare. Ebay is not good for this.

    Thank you so much for your great lessons! You are an awesome player and teacher and it helps so many people that you’re sharing that knowledge and I am one of them. It would help me a lot if you would play the song in the end again and make the chords clear so they are more easy to remember. I love how your lessons are as short as possible and on point though. Also I would love a lesson about One by Johnny Cash. I think it’s an awesome song for the guitar. Much love

I'm working on changing that and bought a guitar to win her back!! Our song: Depeche Mode's, Somebody to Love - I need to learn it, but don't know the chords. I'm new but would welcome your feedback. I suggest you learn how to play the chords first. Just keep repeating every chord till you get it perfectly right regarding the pressure you apply with your fingers. Try to memorize them as it is best to, and then start switching between chords. In a month's time you'll be able to play any song.
