    The large box of Jell-O might’ve made that a little more firm maybe that’s why it was written that way looks good

    • @rosemarycreollo4326
      @rosemarycreollo4326 Год назад +11

      Yes! A large box of jello with half of the recommended water will result in firmer jello that won't be watered down by the pineapple.

    • @denisequaid4599
      @denisequaid4599 Год назад +4

      Yup! The large box and less water helps set it up better with all those goodies that are added to the jello 😊

      Exactly. Large packs of gelatin are hard to find in some places. If I see "large" box I just buy two small ones

    The way you two interact together is so honest and true. You can’t pay for that!! Takes me back to The happy times before my husband passed away. We were married for 33 years and watching you is like going down memory lane, not too mention humorous . It’s like coming home. Thank you so much. Enjoy one another 😍the joy and tears (good) you bring cannot be measured.

    Letting the marshmallows soak in sour cream for a couple hours makes them even more amazing.
    Making the big box of jello with the 2 c of water makes the jello salad thicker when the fruit is added.

    We have made the chicken sliders twice and they are a favorite! I'm a new subscriber but have loved your videos and recipes! We are in Texas. My husband and I have been together since I was a senior in high school so coming up on 24 years married and almost 30 years together! We have three girls and the oldest just started college this year and our youngest is in 4th grade! Keep going with the recipes, they are great!

    Always measure fresh cracked pepper with my heart! Love it! As for sour cream--my Auntie Mame made a lovely fruit salad with Mandarin orange slices, fresh sliced strawberries, banana slices and pineapple tidbits. The dressing is 1 cup of sour cream, 2+ tablespoons of powdered sugar and vanilla to taste. Ever so tasty!

    Yes. Pineapple is usually the culprit when jello doesn't set up correctly. You need to towel dry the pineapple after draining the juice. Yes, there is a white raspberry.

    Correct me if I am wrong but I believe Aldis sells a subdried tomato paste in a tube sorta like the basil, pesto or ginger they sell in the tube. One time I needed sundried tomatoes for a recipe but didnt have them and I had that tube so I used that to achieve the same flavor.

    You had a Greek pita which is folded over exactly as you did it, Mandy!. Have you ever had a gyro (yeero) ? The Jello would have set up if you had used the 6 oz size with one cup each of hot water and cold. It's okay, you didn't know that wet heavy fruit requires more gelatine and less water. The instructions on the box are not for adding fruit or veggies. It is just to set the Jello.

  • @bruceshook1781

    I wanted to tell you. When I was watching this and you were talking about using sour cream, you were hesitant. It made me giggle. I was there in the past.
    My grandmother would make sour cream salad.
    One big container of sour cream, mini marshmallows, a can of pineapple tidbits (drained). Add some shredded coconut.
    I try it and see if I need more coconut or marshmallows. After all that is mixed together. Top with mandarin oranges. Let chill in the fridge.
    Sounds so weird but dang good!! We love it in our family!! Try it and see what you think!!

    My heart measured ingredients are cheese and onions. The recipe will say a medium onion and I will put an entire large onion in. The recipe may ask for 3/4 of a bag of cheese, and I will put the entire bag of cheese, and maybe a little bit of a 2nd bag will be in the dish. 🌰 🧅 🧀

    When making your berry jello salad try adding a package of Knox gelatin . The recipe I have uses 2 regular size boxes of raspberry jello and one envelope of Knox. I put a can of whole berry cranberry sauce in and 1 can of undrained crushed pineapple. This sets up very solid.

  • @ohleander02

    Pineapple and other acidic ingredients will break gelatin down a bit so that's probably why the large box of Jello was called for. It would have set up more stable. ❤

    You have to account for the natural juices in your fruits when you make jello salad. That is why it called for a large box (which are not always easy to find so next time use 2 of the regular size boxes) Basically you use 1/2 of the water that a large box calls for. So if you use 2 of the regular size boxes, use water as the recipe calls for.
    It looks yummy though

    Lol , anywho, I can’t wait to try those sliders Mandy. Not big on Jello, but, it certainly looked interesting. I make a cake that I swirl whole cranberry sauce in before baking. I do this by heating up cranberry sauce in a small saucepan. Turns to liquid and is so easy to incorporate into recipes. And although I use whole cranberry sauce for my cake, I am a JELLY girl too! And please tell Steven thank you for pronouncing my name so perfectly! You can’t believe how many things I get called. It’s not that hard right! Just love y’all!

    Hello Mandy! I made the sliders and everyone raved about them! I tweaked your recipe just a touch....instead of melting extra butter in a small dish to add the dry ranch and parsley to, I just used the buttery liquid that the chicken cooked in. I also added a bit of crumbled bacon and some chives along with the Gouda in the sandwich. They were a big hit!

    Big mistake with the pkg jello. You should have only used half cup of boiling and half cup of cold. The fruit and pineapple have extra liquid in them. That’s why it was a Lg box of jello with half the water! 🤣🤣🤣. I make this jello salad but instead of pineapple, I use unsweetened applesauce. And I use 1 small bag of frozen raspberries and 1 small bag of frozen mixed fruit. I’m going to try your topping though. I have only used cool whip. 💕🙏🙏
