what i like about your videos is that when you think the video is over you're like "awh man not so soon", but then it continues again for like 5 minutes. great content my fellow scandinavian neighbour
I can only dream of the gear you're using now!! Super excited for your next video since I own a 600D and 6D :) thanks for making these kind of videos, they really help me out
You guys are missing the entire point of this video. its not about the gh4, its not about the fancy tripod or the monitor/mic set up. common guys. its all about the cats.
Hey Andyax, will the DEC still fit the Yelangu cage when having added the rod adapter? Because it seems like the body on the bottom of the DEC Lensregain is going to be too big for it... Have a great day :)
Raphael Werner Media Prod. Because the rod system connects to the front of the cage rather than directly underneath it gets in the way of the LensRegain. If only they made it connect underneath instead, without protruding out the front! The SevenOak cage and the Came TV cage seem to be fine
Your Videos are my favourite in the camera/gear world.. You show how its possible to Do so much without having to spend a fortune.. Imaginitive and creative...... Thank you my Friend..
Andyax is back!! I saw this vide the day it came out and forgot to leave a comment : ( great video as always, loved the cats at the start! Beautiful footage. Looking forward to the next one! (Just happens to be the exact same camera that I have recently bought).
Thank you Anders and Eskild. You have been so inspiring since February (month I have started watching your videos in loop when the kids were going to sleep. :) I'm repeating myself but yeah you guys are an inspiration and you should be paid for publicity because I bought pretty much all the stuff you showed us Anders :) Missing the Motion X2 but heh i'M starting somewhere at least :) Started with Canon 700D and now i'M with the GH4, DEC lens regain and Sigma 17-35. It is just awesome the footage I can do with those 3 things. Continue your videos both of you as I will be pressing refresh on my keyboard until you release a new one :)
Thanks, your comment means a lot! :) It motivates us to continue, and one day I hope we find a way to be able to do this full time. Good luck shooting :)
There's one thing I would like to ask you. Your youtube videos always seems to be 1 step above everything else in terms of quality especially those took with your GH4. I would like to know, do you plan to make a tutorial on what kind of codec / video compressor / bitrate you are choosing when it comes down to compression for final products / web distribution or are you always work in AVI/MOV until the very last thing then wrap it up in mp4 for RUclips. A video about your workflow would be really interresting.
Depends how much is a "lot" to you. Noise isn't the issue but rather just lack of sensitivity to low lighting. 6D on the same ISO as the GH4 will pick up a lot more details in low light than the GH4, noise isn't really much of a big deal compared to the details you're trying to pick up, keep that in mind! And yes the GH4 low light is not super amazing, but it's not totally unusable as many people claim though you will have to go out of your way to use super shallow lenses with limited flexibility in the night shots. The question you should ask yourself is, "how often am I going to be shooting in low light?" Then you can decide between a GH4 or something like an A7S which doesn't have as great dynamic range or slow motion in my opinion, but a heck of a lot better low light!
I think that adding a bracket or a magic arm from the tripod handle to the Aputure DEC handle would be cool so you can operate the tripod with two hands. I used a broadcast camera with two handles on the tripod, its very smooth using two hands.
Hi Andyax, I really like your channel. I have a GH4 with the Aputure Lensregain and the Sigma 18-35mm, fantastic! Unfortunately, based on this video, I also got the Yelangu Cage. I think should have mentioned, that 1. With this setup you cannot attach the bottom portion of the Cage rig (the one that attaches to the rods) as it does not fit between the cage and the Lensregain. 2. You can't attach the Micro USB plug into the Lensregain. 3. If the camera is all the way back in the cage (allowing the battery door to open so you can swap batteries), you cannot plug a remote into the GH4. Anyway, thought it good to share what I learned today after my Yelangu Cage came in. Thanks for the great channel!
Daniel Bassett So... no vigneting in 4/3 pictures at all? Do tou know if metabones .064 works well also with pics? For me apeture is great option but for take pictures, working with wirelesd handle doesnt like so much...
Hey Andyax, that cage is also called the Neewer cage in the states (also 100$) it also fits the A7 series cameras. Just though that was neat fact to share
andyax . great videos you have in your channel. thanks for creating such amazing contents . some of your review and product suggestions has been very helpful. keep posting contents... looking forward ...
Great video Andy, I'm building a rig like that for my Canon XC10 and Canon 80D....and after Christmas, hopefully my new Canon 1DX Mark II. I was going to get a 5" monitor but since this video I think a 7" will be better. Keep em' coming.
Great video again. A little constructive feedback: Your english is going slightly backwards comparing to earlier vids.. Like in this one "Light your films like a pro [Aputure Light Storm LS 1s]" Looking forward to the next :)
Hey Andyax, will the DEC still fit the Yelangu cage when having added the rod adapter? Because it seems like the body on the bottom of the DEC Lensregain is going to be too big for it... Have a great day :)
First of all, i have to say : You are my jedi master. I have learn so much with your video ! Thank you so much for all. What kind of screw wheel are you using for mounting the DEC remote on the cage and for mounting the quick plate under the cage ? (in yout video, i can see a small ring just between the bottom cage and the top of the quick release plate). i think this is a hack because of the DEC. Can you give us some amazon links to buy these tools ?
Amazing videos, you can really tell you are in love with your craft. I also have the GH4 and Sigma, but sometimes when I film at 96fps the footage is really grainy, even at 200 ISO!?! Any tips/settings for getting the best image in different situations with the GH4? 💯💯💯👊🍻
Hi Logan. Thanks :) Even though it seems like the 96fps is just as good as 60fps, since they are both shot in 100mbit/sec, the 96fps is more compressed. And that's because the higher the fps, the more compressed each frame is to be able to shoot 100mbit/sec. Yes I know it sounds confusing, but I talk more about it in this video: ruclips.net/video/jPDbzBsNg7Y/видео.html
Well done. You have chosen your gear thoughtfully. I was wondering how the tripod shoe fits on the cage. I have a Walimex and I'm not impressed with the way that it attaches. The hole is offset. Gerry in Calgary.
Hi! Nice and helpful video again. I just wondering how to you use LensRegain with glidecam? Do you mount the remote on the glidecam? Does it have any impact for balance? My second question is about sunsky-online. How much is the shipping fee is if I like to order some stuff to europe? Any taxes added? Thank you and keep making awesome and helpful videos!
Hey Andy, fantastic video as always. Quick question: have you ever stacked adapters before? I am thinking about getting Canon 2.0x extender to add in-between my lens and speedbooster, save some dough on buying another lens. What are your thoughts?
Hi Andyax, Finally got myself a GH4 and followed this video for some of your recommendations. Been struggling for the past two hours too try and get the Yelangu Cage on to my Manfrotto Plate. Are you using a larger screw?
Great rig! When you are using the LensRegain I'm assuming you need to mount the camera a bit further forward. If this is so do you still have access to battery and SD card. Thanks
Hello Alex! Thank you for wonderful youtube channel. Just bought the GH4 and are wondering if the DEC works good with stills or just with filming? Once again, thank you :)
Andyax love the video this is the same setup I ordered, BUT! I realized the Metabones speed booster and the foot with the rails won't work together because the adapter has that little foot that won't let it slide far enough onto the cage to allow the battery door to open all the way. If I copy your setup and take off the rails how do you attach the camera to the cage and then the tripod plate to the cage bottom with that big finger screw that is on the bottom?
So in your opinion, has using that Lens Regain been better or more efficient or just more convenient than using a traditional followfocus? Or is a traditional follow focus more accurate still?
seeing forward to your next vid, I bet you'll make it so damn awesome even though you "just" have the 700D's kit lens..... Btw will you use the CineStyle picture profile for it?
Okay i should have believed you to begin with. I purchased the Manfrotto 502A head and the Ifootage Wild Bull T5. And i didnt realize that the T5 came with a 75mm adapter. And the flat base 502AH is cheaper and more versatile as it can be connected to sliders and jibs.
Also, did you notice that in order to fit the GH4 in the rig, using the DEC lens regain, you have to push it forward all the way in the cage? At that point you cannot open the battery door!?
Hi Andy we are huge fan of you we bought all the things which you have shown in this video,I want your suggestion can I use any iPad as my external monitor with aputure array trans (I know that iPad does not have hdmi )is there any way I can use it as director monitor ?
I was about to buy the 0.64x speedbooster you recommend in other videos for my GH4. I already have the Sigma 18-35 1.8. After seeing the Lensregain in this video, it seems like a great alternative as it's cheaper and has the added bonus of remote focus during video recording. Would you recommend to get the lensregain instead of metabones 0.64x?
Evan Stueve i would suggest the metabones if you do more of a run and gun type of videos and also if you do photography, because the metabones can provide autofocus and is less bulkier, On the other hand if you do more studio type video work or if you work in a more controlled environment go for the aputure, But remember the focus pulls are not as smooth by the remote, as by hand. it focuses in steps!! Thank you and have a nice day!!!
Nice setup my friend! I use a Gh4 with 25mm 1.4 lens, a manfrotto alu tripod, fluid head and a cheap konova k3 slider without a motor. Its a good setup for round about 2000€. But as you say, its not the gear but the story. Thumbs Up! regards Julius
I hope you test that Sigma with the 700D. It'll be interesting to know if that lens can turn a low-mid range DSLR into something competitive. I also ask, because I have the 700D with the kit lens and I'm ogling the Sigma 18-35mm. :)
andy! which kind of filter will you recomend for the samyang 14mm lens?? i love this lens that you reviewed but, im not shure to buy it, cause i live in a place that there is a lot of snow and i need an ND filter o polarizing but is hard to find a cheap one for this lens... love your videos, glad you are back! greets from Argentina.
I have a pretty similar setup, but i'm curious how did you mount the cage to the tripod base plate without the rod system attached to it. Did you screw it into the lens adapter ?
How did you mount the camera to the cage directly without using the rods mount? This rods mount is very unstable and also does not let you to open the battery door. I can see from the video that the rig mounted to the tripod head using the Aputure DEC LensRegain, but there is very little space left for the screw to mount the camera itself to the cage. Thanks!
Is there something like the Lensregain for Nikon??? I already have a full line of Nikon lenses so I got the speedbooster with nikon mount, but would love this product for Nikon
Great, video! Is there any zoom lens which achieves the same image quality and has an equally low f-stop like the Sigma 18-35mm F/1.8 BUT with image stabilisation (which ideally can also be used along with the Aputure DEC LensRegain)? I would love to have Image stabilisation since I am shooting a lot without tripod etc. Of course, I am aware that this might increase costs. So is there any such lens?
Hey I'm wondering what kind of screw you used to put the lensregain handle on the side of the cage? I ordered the new regain model and want to rig it to the side like you did there! thanks a lot!
Hey guys great videos. Could you please tell me if 1) Yelangu Cage is OK for Fuji Xt-2 (body only) and if OK 2) can it be used with XT-2 while having the grip attached to camera? Keep up the good work and your enthusiasm...
Great video thanks. Today i almost bought the Sigma lens you use but i want to be very mobile and it seams that its a heavy and big thing to carry around... Also i wonder how you stabilize it when you do handheld shots. Do you use a monopod?
Hi. Thanks :) If you shoot without a shoulderrig, steadycam or tripod, I use the viewfinder to make a three point contact with the camera and thereby stabilize it. Or I use the neck strap and tighten it to make the shot more stable. Good luck!
Hey Andy, I love your videos. Last week I bought a dec regain, gh4 and sigma 18-35 but I can't get camera to recognise the lens, or any of my canon lenses. Does Dec allow for any auto focus options with Dec or only manual focus peaking?
Got here from the recommendations. The beginning of this video was shot so professionally, I thought it was an ad and tried to skip it.
I love the way the video was presented, not your average "what's in my camera bag", this is why I love this video!
Good to see you back. Always look forward to your stuff.
Finally dude. I always look forward to your videos and you were one of the main reasons I bought the Gh4. Its nice to see you talk more about it!
Dude! Holy cow! You totally blew that out of the water production wise! Fantastic job!
what i like about your videos is that when you think the video is over you're like "awh man not so soon", but then it continues again for like 5 minutes. great content my fellow scandinavian neighbour
I just picked up my GH4 YESTERDAY, so this movie is posted at the BEST POSSIBLE TIME for me! Takker, Andyax! :D
I can only dream of the gear you're using now!! Super excited for your next video since I own a 600D and 6D :) thanks for making these kind of videos, they really help me out
you are awosome man, iv been following you since 1 year always good stuff
Amazed with the quality of work and time you put into these videos. Love it and is very very helpful to me. Thank you!
You guys are missing the entire point of this video. its not about the gh4, its not about the fancy tripod or the monitor/mic set up. common guys. its all about the cats.
;)
Andyax How did you get the cats to be so awesome? are they yours?
Isaac Brown Completely Oblivious behaviour on all are parts for mistaking such truth.
Aliya Coburg Forever shamed
Isaac Brown Excuse me while I hide in the darkness of my room now.
It's always a pleasure to watch your videos. Perfect look, audio, color... I already watched all videos, Upload more 😉.
Thanks André, I'm glad you like them :) I just hope you haven't seen the oldest videos, because they are not perfect look at all, hehe
Hey Andyax,
will the DEC still fit the Yelangu cage when having added the rod adapter? Because it seems like the body on the bottom of the DEC Lensregain is going to be too big for it...
Have a great day :)
Raphael Werner Media Prod. Because the rod system connects to the front of the cage rather than directly underneath it gets in the way of the LensRegain. If only they made it connect underneath instead, without protruding out the front! The SevenOak cage and the Came TV cage seem to be fine
I purchased the Sevenoak gh4 cage and it fits perfect with Lensragain. You can mount the adapter and lenses whilst in cage with or without rod system
Great video! beautiful and full of interesting info for GH4 users ;)
(i loved the intro shot with the cat and the side travelling, well done!)
Your Videos are my favourite in the camera/gear world.. You show how its possible to Do so much without having to spend a fortune.. Imaginitive and creative...... Thank you my Friend..

I bought a gh4 with the help of you. I love the speedbooster tokina 11-16mm combo. Thanks man great video!
GH4 my favorite small video camera right now!
I think that it has a lot of nose in low light, no?
Depends how much is a "lot" to you. love these crazy high quality videos!! keep it up
Hi Andyax, I really like your channel. I have a GH4 with the Aputure Lensregain and the Sigma 18-35mm, fantastic! Unfortunately, based on this video, I also got the Yelangu Cage. I think should have mentioned, that
1. With this setup you cannot attach the bottom portion of the Cage rig (the one that attaches to the rods) as it does not fit between the cage and the Lensregain.

Anyway, thought it good to share what I learned today after my Yelangu Cage came in. Thanks for the great channel!
Daniel Bassett Can I use the Aputure and sigma to make pics? Have you got any sample?
Niños Cabra yes, the camera works just as it does with any other lens.
Daniel Bassett So... no vigneting in 4/3 pictures at all? Do tou know if metabones .064 works well also with pics? For me apeture is great option but for take pictures, working with wirelesd handle doesnt like so much...
Niños Cabra I don't have the Metabones Speedbooster, but from what I understand the 0.64 version can cause vignetting depending on the lens used.
Could you send me a pic in 4/3 L, maded with sigma & aputure, to see vigneting at 18mm plsss? Is possible?
I really like the intro, It feels so professional
Thanks Anders! as usual, great video and really useful information. I hope to see you in Brussels! cheers
Hey Andyax, that cage is also called the Neewer cage in the states (also 100$) it also fits the A7 series cameras. Just though that was neat fact to share
Your films helped me a lot with the decision, which camera to buy ;-) I'm very happy with my GH4. Thx for your good advices!
what you have done is inspirational thank you
Thanks for your great videos guys. One of the best on youtube.
andyax . great videos you have in your channel. thanks for creating such amazing contents . some of your review and product suggestions has been very helpful. keep posting contents... looking forward ...
Fantastic gear roundup. Thank you for making this.
Spectacular Video. Even though all you did was show your rig, it looked like it was taken straight out of Hollywood.
Kjempe nyttig channel! Tusen takk!
Hey Andyax! ^_^ Glad to see your new videos! Do you have any free-hand video panning techniques you could share?? ^_^
The quality build the trust.. your videos are great. try to upload a video every week. that will be amazing
Great video! Definitely going to check out some of this gear!
Rewatching this and thinking how much I miss Eskild. May he rest in peace.
Great video Andy, I'm building a rig like that for my Canon XC10 and Canon 80D....and after Christmas, hopefully my new Canon 1DX Mark II. I was going to get a 5" monitor but since this video I think a 7" will be better. Keep em' coming.
I can't wait to see the next episode because a few days ago I bought the 700D
i didn't even have a gh4. came here just to like and support. great channel!
Love your videos Andy!
Always so damn epic and informative.
Maybe do a video on a good external recorder on the cheap?
I just got a 700d with the kit lens like a week ago so i'm way too excited now 😁
Great video again. A little constructive feedback: Your english is going slightly backwards comparing to earlier vids.. Like in this one "Light your films like a pro [Aputure Light Storm LS 1s]" Looking forward to the next :)
Don't know how often you read comments from old videos, but is there a reason you switched from the metabones speedbooster to this one?
Hey Andyax,
will the DEC still fit the Yelangu cage when having added the rod adapter? Because it seems like the body on the bottom of the DEC Lensregain is going to be too big for it...
Have a great day :)
Good one, thanks for that. Greetings and happy easter, LuBi
Love your videos. Great work. 😀
Inspirational, especially this movement 6:48 - thanks!
Awesome video, as always. :-)
Just picked up a GH4 with a Metabones Speed Booster. that cage looks real nice!
Jepp, I like it. You even get rods with it, but I didn't show them in this video.

Also I really like to know does LensRegain support autofocus and image stablization?
Hey Andy, fantastic video as always. Quick question: have you ever stacked adapters before? I am thinking about getting Canon 2.0x extender to add in-between my lens and speedbooster, save some dough on buying another lens. What are your thoughts?
Great video. The cage you're using looks great and at a really nice price. Would you recommend this over other cages?
Hi Andyax, Finally got myself a GH4 and followed this video for some of your recommendations. Been struggling for the past two hours too try and get the Yelangu Cage on to my Manfrotto Plate. Are you using a larger screw?
Have you considered making a video on camera gear for skateboarding videos? Or any other action sports.
Hi. Not yet :) I'm not that experienced with filming action sports, but it could be a cool challenge!
I guess not man
hamakblada and gomajablada to you too Andy!
Great rig! When you are using the LensRegain I'm assuming you need to mount the camera a bit further forward. If this is so do you still have access to battery and SD card. Thanks
Nice setup and video! Are you running the audio from the shotgun mic straight into the camera?
Beautiful shots!
Hello Alex! Thank you for wonderful youtube channel. Just bought the GH4 and are wondering if the DEC works good with stills or just with filming? Once again, thank you :)
Where were you bro ?
I thought you left making videos
Well great one awesome gear
Andyax love the video this is the same setup I ordered, BUT! Amazing! Thanks for sharing.
I have a question... Did you know if this cage works with Nikon D5200?
Thanks again! Greetings from Uruguay
Nice video! Can I ask what you used to mount the lens regain control to the side of the rig? How did you ensure it was correctly orientated?
Can you please make an updated version for the GH5? Thanks :)
Btw will you use the CineStyle picture profile for it?
hehe, that's great to hear :) I haven't used it yet. Do you need to download and install it?
+Andyax yes, but it really works well, it gives you a ton of dynamic range u wouldn't have without
That tripod head is the manfrotto 502A right? Since it has the 75mm half ball connection.
But you linked to the manfrotto 502AH which has a flat base.
Nice set-up, great gear.
Also, did you notice that in order to fit the GH4 in the rig, using the DEC lens regain, you have to push it forward all the way in the cage? At that point you cannot open the battery door!?
Great video and tips as always.

I was about to buy the 0.64x speedbooster you recommend in other videos for my GH4. I already have the Sigma 18-35 1.8. After seeing the Lensregain in this video, it seems like a great alternative as it's cheaper and has the added bonus of remote focus during video recording. NICE video and nice cinematic colour grade mate! You have maybe this cineD lut? :) Cheers, Thanks!
i like the Yelangu Cage and Manfrotto 502D. On the monitor i'm using Aputure VS-3. liked
what did you use to attach the lens regain to the cage? great video!
I have a pretty similar setup, but i'm curious how did you mount the cage to the tripod base plate without the rod system attached to it. Did you screw it into the lens adapter ?
Does the Aputure DEC LensRegain work on the Lumix 12-35 lens as well? I really like the stabilization on this lens.
Nice, usually what do you use to grade your footage? Do you use Film Convert in Resolve? Do you always use LUTs or not?
Great video and nice video quality as well as color grading! Like
But from what I understand, the LensRegain is more suitable for video, and the Metabones works better for a still photographer, right?
Awsome fuckn video. Been pondering over a rig set up for way too long!
How did you mount the camera to the cage directly without using the rods mount? This rods mount is very unstable and also does not let you to open the battery door.
I ordered the new regain model and want to rig it to the side like you did there! thanks a lot!
thank you for sharing your setup!
very cool man! thanks for sharing!
Hey guys great videos.
Could you please tell me if
1) Yelangu Cage is OK for Fuji Xt-2 (body only) and if OK
2) can it be used with XT-2 while having the grip attached to camera?
Keep up the good work and your enthusiasm...
Great video thanks. Today i almost bought the Sigma lens you use but i want to be very mobile and it seams that its a heavy and big thing to carry around... Also i wonder how you stabilize it when you do handheld shots. Do you use a monopod?
Hi. Thanks :) If you shoot without a shoulderrig, steadycam or tripod, I use the viewfinder to make a three point contact with the camera and thereby stabilize it. Or I use the neck strap and tighten it to make the shot more stable. Good luck!
How did they attach that specific cage without using the rod plate that comes with it, to the tripod?
Hey Andy, I love your videos. Last week I bought a dec regain, gh4 and sigma 18-35 but I can't get camera to recognise the lens, or any of my canon lenses. Does Dec allow for any auto focus options with Dec or only manual focus peaking?
Hey man! Great videos and information. What are your thoughts on the Sony a6300 for video?
Sick video thanks! I'm curious how much it cost you to fix your HDMI output. I recently sent mine in for repairs. Still waiting on an estimate.
