Just discovered your channel Paul; such rich food for the soul, and it resonates with my own journey in photography - more and more towards simplicity. I look forward to seeing the book which I just downloaded. Thank-you and keep up the good work.
Tired after some busy weeks, but after seeing your wondeful video I picked up my M8/VM35mm and had a very nice and quiet 2 hours in the (spring) forest, thank you very much for the inspiration! Greetings from the opposite side of the planet (Northern Norway)
Enjoyed this video - the multi-layer transitions were very engaging and the monochrome treatment definitely ties into the winter weather pounding the country of late!
"Spaces and shapes that are easy on the eye". Nice words and wonderful images to match Paul. I wonder, is harder to write or make images about how you feel ? The weather has been horrible in Victoria and Tassie as well over the last few weeks, uninterrupted blast of cold air from the Antarctic.
The Leica should be an extension of your eye. The simple frames, basic controls, a lens that is pure and functional. Landscape, portrait, news, action and whatever else you ae drawn too. The true joy of a small camera. Your words enforcing the love.
Who knew 4 minutes of a photographer thinking out loud could be so compelling! Not to mention beautiful images. It's all about the connection. I live in Scotland's equivalent of Bluff and I recently discovered on a remote part of the coast, someones homage/memorial to Pablo Neruda the Chilean Nobel winner for his poetry. It's beautifully carved but you have to ask why here? Speaking to an Oxford professor of Spanish literature he's explained how Neruda wrote of his love for the south Chilean coast and effectively how it was in part of his soul and in his blood, I get a similar feel from what you said but like Neruda, where these carvings are, on "my" bit of coast by one of the harshest bits of water on the planet, it's in my blood and DNA.
Silence of the wind has gone mate I’m over the hills in central hawkes bay woke at 5am torrential rain and insane consistent gales if it’s grim here it must be pretty gnarly over your way. As for the past ringing in your ears my past isn’t loud enough to drown out my tinitus 😞Great vid mate cracking images I watch your channel and absolutely despair at the shite I upload you have a calm measured manner that conveys perfectly wheres you are at I’m realising all too slowly that having half decent photography isn’t enough bloody ell this wind is driving me nuts can’t think straight stay safe up there mate keep the content flowing I’ll be ordering your new book asap
@@PaulCSmithPhotographer 😂 bloody thing drives ya mad first time I noticed it was when I moved into the van and parked up in the hills soooo quiet apart from this constant whining noise kept me up all night looking for an electric fault in van even took it to auto electrician they found nothing that’s when it click bloody thing is my constant companion now 😂

Love to see people shoot landscapes on a Leica M! It’s not just a street photography camera! Keep up the great work!
Street, studio, landscape, wedding, it does it all except sports.
