Thanks for making an Aussie based (and comprehensive) carp fly fishing vid! Hope to see some more! I discovered this style of fishing (Albury/Wodonga area) almost by accident a couple of years ago and it is honestly my favourite form of fishing.
This video is well timed. I am currently house-sitting in Bathurst and have been out targeting trout 7 times in 2 weeks without luck. I am now considering your advice to target carp instead. I have twice seen a large fish with some yellow colouring hunting bait fish aggressively in the shallows on the Macquarie. I could not tell if it was a brown trout, carp or golden perch. Do carp ever do this? It was very aggressive on the surface and even leaping out of the water (albeit in such a way that I still could not identify the species). Could it have been a carp?

Fantastic episode, thanks John and Peter! :)
No worries Steve, glad you enjoyed it.
They’re readily available in numbers , they’re a worthy target and they pull. Great fun .
And you can sight fish for them….any fish sight fished is worth ten blind cast in my books.
@@TheFlyFishingMasterClass 100% sight fishing is the best
Interesting and comprehensive information. What lb tippet do you generally run?
12lb.
In Western Australia we have koi carp.
Interesting.

Absolutely.
You would get lynched for knocking a carp on the head in the uk .
Why? Even when you gonna eat it?
@weisswurstfruhstuck8523 we don't eat carp in the UK they are a prized fish that Anglers hold in high regard..
@@keithdainton6043They are a wonderful sport fish.
@@weisswurstfruhstuck8523I don’t know anyone who would eat a carp, they are full of bones.
Flyfishing for carp is the next best thing after tarpon flyfishing for me...and it doesnt kill the wallet.
Yep, they are one of my favourite species on fly as well. Can’t beat sight fishing.
