    A white puff fly is a killer for carp as it imitates a cotton wood seed pod . It’s a go to fly on the lower green and also works great on the Gunnison in or around the town of Delta Colorado

    Couldn't agree with Fario anymore. I was just out at a job site today and have been seeing a bunch of large carp lately, I guess getting ready to spawn, I knew folks fly fished for carp and it sounds like so fun to catch a fish that size, and they really are super pretty fish. So I snuck my rod to work, got the work done, then hung around to try and catch one, and holly cow! So hard to catch them 😵 hahaha. I really appreciate this video, so well presented, fella presenting and camera operator did such a good job, and now I'm super pumped to get back out there 👍 professionally done RIO, love your products and muchos muchos gracias!

  • @mikewelch4673
    @mikewelch4673 3 года назад +1

    Great video, thanks for the info. I live near a large area that gets flooded every year in the spring and I see lots of large carp that seem to be feeding right against the grassy banks when the water is coming up. They are nosed into the bank and seem to be aggressively feeding. I know it might be impossible to answer this question but what would your hunch be on what they would be eating and what flies to use? I know this year when it starts to happen I can wade in and look but I am keen to try to get a carp and want to make sure I have some flies ready to go. Cheers.

    • @RIOPRODUCTS
      @RIOPRODUCTS  3 года назад

      Great question! Our hunch during a flood season would probably be worms that are flooded out of their normally dry homes. Also, generally they are a good choice for carp. They could also be feeding on other aquatic species disturbed by the change in water like nymphs or crayfish. Try one of RIO's Red Hot Worms, or Cray Crays. Hope this helps!

      @@mikewelch4673 , The weeds would be dry? and dying? the carp are staging and feeding by rooting the dead weed and insects/worms .
      For me a beadhead crystal wollybugger in size 10 had been effective along with small brown beadhead wollybugger with rubber legs .
      The technique is to get the fly in the zone slowly and let it be on the bottom and gently raise it as the carp suck /stir up the bottom as if the fly rose up from the path rooted/stirred by. the carp, the carp will immediately take the fly .
      The should only be raise till the carp's eye level just an inch or two .
      I anticipate the rooting path and pre-plant the fly
