For those who never was in shool: MW = megawatts (LOIC) mW = milliwatts (laserpointers) nm = nanometers, wavelenght of that emitted light (~532 = green, ~404 = blue, ~636 = red, 1064 = IR, co2 lasers) what the fuuuuuuu
1. spectral sensitivity of eye to green is higher than red = 1mw green is brighter then 1mw red 2. brighter green beam is wider - in some applications it is worse 3. camera has low dynamic range - it overdims the weaker laser 4. the weaker the laser, the less chance you need surgery to restore eyesight
If his estimations are correct, all of the ones he's showing are completely safe. 5 mW has been tested to produce only completely heal-able damage to the human eye if pointed directly into the eye for something like 1 minute continuously.
So if someone is stood unseen in the distance you damage their eyes ? One doesn't shoot guns without knowing there's no one in the line of fire. Same applies to high power lasers.
nm stands for nanometers, which is how far apart each wave on the laser is... the lower the number the brighter the laser is because the waves will be closer together in the beam and more "dense"..... mW however stands for milliwatt and that is how much power the laser has. two totally different things
the nm is like the color of the laser. 532 nm is green, 405 nm is purple, 445-473 nm is blue, and 650-660 nm is red. you can't see anything below 400 nm or above 800 nm.
It's actually better them one of the very cheap lasers, but what do you mean with ''pop''? when i turn it on, its weak for like 0.5 seconds, then if full. My eyes hurt already only by looking at the beam, not even the dot.
If the person pointing looks at the beam, youll see it in almost any condition. and the other end of the beam ..but from the sides barley visible, only in dense fog
@21hdflat Can u tell me the link please? Im seraching lasers for ages and I cant find, because there are a lot and the power is never trustworthy, Ive seen hundreds and I still dont know where to find a good 5 mw laser...
In aus we have the shittest laws known to man and any laser above 1mw is classified illegal and needs permit, any over 50mw even more illegal and considered a "weapon"

TBH. That seller is no more. Your best of searching 50mw green laster pointer and hoping for a good one. That one..to this day works really well. Pop some new batteries in and man is it powerful. Got lucky with a good seller. I bought mine of ebay years ago.
What Laser i can use for Personal defence? i live in Chicago where gun laws are ridiculous and i need something to protect myself with. what is the highest MW that could blind a home invader?
Yeah Chicago is bad I hear, well a legitimate 50mw will be great, but a real one will most likely cost a couple to few hundred dollars. the 5mw might be enough for temp eye pain but not sure if it'll last for more then a few seconds, the more power the better obviously.
+daniel Lamb For self defense, I'd recommend a super bright LED flashlight with a fast strobe. Look into Nitecore brand to see what I mean. Mine will make it hard to see fo 30 seconds after only 1 second blast.
it says < 5mw not 5mw. so it can be 3 mw or 1 mw. the other one says < 50mw so it can be 5mw. I have a green laser that says < 5000mw and it can't even burn anything. it's probably 5mw as well.
if your were to grab one of those things that goes into a electrical outlet and do some tinkering aka cutting the wire insulation and exposing the copper then twisting those into the laser diode wires then you could get more power i think not sure tho
Wont burn skin..but will get warm if held there for long enough..and yes your eyes will hurt and im sure if aimed enough it will ruin vision by some...had if accidentally blink in my eyes few times,,saw tiny bit worse from all that light for a sec.
You're right. I bought a 5mW green laser off ebay and I compared it to my 50mW laser, the 5mW had a much better beam! So I was quite annoyed that I spent more money on a 50mW when I didn't have to so I ended up sending it back lol.
Kyle Warden you cant measure the effect of at laser on its brightness since that has to do with its wavelength, thats why cheap 100 mw lasers are so dangerous because you barely see the beam tough its burning your eyes like hell,
@mustafa2146 No problem..i thiink it mean mila watt..or micro watt..honestly im not 100% sure..something with watts, and how much power and wave they produce.
do TRUE 50mW lazers even come in the pen form? unless Its a mini I dont think they do...sweet vid tho looks like a good place to do a lil sky beamin..just ordered my 50mW lzcs from lazerer cant wait til it comes

It is very easy to buy a $25 laser and replace the motherboard and laser diode and save hundreds of dollars. You need to know alot about your laser and be specific. Go on ebay and search 200mw diode. They are mostly not in the U.S.A but they are really really cheap and worth the money.
The red laser beam seems less bright because the human eye can see better the color green then any other color. Also >5mW will mostly damage you eyes because the eye reflex is too slow.
Amazon DOT com.. search around. theres different kinds. Mine im not sure from who i got it. its was around 26$ for it. This one is metal heavy and feels well built unlike the cheap black plastic one.
If you have the money get a 50mw or stronger,,the strong one i have was from amazon for around 28$..cant find the seller any more. and now a lot of scammers out their saying their laser are this much which they really arent.
Is all 5mW lasers the same?? plz can someone help me?? i want to buy 1 like 0:24 but i dont know if all is the same?? Maybe i buy 1 here and then it's not strong and give me long range?? i want 1 which is visible at night like this 1 at 0:24.... i live in sweden...
It was foggy so the green line became much more visible. Otherwise it is very faint. Can still see it at night. But not lime the video..btw still have the laser years later. Works great.
@fas3000 Hello hello, i bought it from amazon DOT com, i looked up 50MW green laser and found one for 23$. although i cant seen to find that same one any longer, maybe the 5MW's they have on there are as good. but that is where i got mine from.

5mW doesn't mean (Mega-Watt); it means (Milli-Watt) which is super weak. They weren't lying nor scamming you. If you're looking for a good laser, they have one in Japan at about 2.5 Peta-Watts. One of them is probably 15-20 mW, and the other 50 mW. You can't see the beam of 5 mW under those conditions.

is a 5mW Laser any good? This dude is selling them for $15. Should I buy?
Same. I can't find it anywhere... only those crappy ones. If you find one, let me know!

@TheMNlongboarders No, no glasses for neither. Might be a good idea to wear em,,but i rarely use this ..but still..i take precaution

Okay well You have to realize that the 50mW laser is 10 times more "powerful" than the the 5mW laser.
