My favorite is "dogs are always in the push-up position", for the same reason. It's stupidly brilliant. He saw some things the way a 5yr old might have, but he was able to bring it to adults in a way that hit the mark.

Mitch is one of my favorite comedians. It’s so sad he passed away. He was on his way to being huge. RIP Mitch, I miss your great comedy. You had such a great perspective on life and a great delivery. You pointed out things the average person would never notice. When you said “ Kit Kat has it’s name stamped on it, That robs you of Chocolate “ I was hooked.
I can't believe that I only discovered Mtch Hedberg just a few days ago. He's hilarious! I can why it sometimes it took the crowd to catch on but I got him immediately and laughed so hard. So now I'm binge-watching anything I can. Rest in Peace funny man!
So I first encountered him with his Comedy Central special and never looked back. He died March 31st and my wife told me April 1st he had passed. I’m still in shock and am so very sad to not have him in this world. He was such a brilliant light of joy in this dark, maddening world. My favorite comedians are Carlin, Pryor and Hicks but those three were on a mission with a message. Hedberg was just pure comedy, just pure comedy to the core. He’s the absolute best of all time.
Mitch was more of a lovable character than a comedian but BECAUSE he was such a endearing character, some of his one liners were genius. One of my favorites was..."I had some rice before coming here. I like rice. Rice is good for when you feel like having 2,000 of something." Genius.
That was a great line. My favorite Mitch line was “you aren’t going to please all of the people all of the time, and last night all those people came to my show.”
The audience, the host, the band, the other guests....they all enjoyed his standup. The interview afterward was golden. Cheers to Mike Bullard, he genuinely enjoyed every second of having Mitch on the show and Mitch looks at times like he felt everyone was really digging him. Great TV appearance.
I first recognized him on comedy Central in the late 90s and it was so hilarious that I walked around saying stuff from his act for months. I followed his career and when I learned he had passed it really hurt me badly. I didn't know him obviously but man there's something strange that happens when genius people die.
Another person with the exact same experience. I couldn't stop laughing and thinking about his unique style and of course uncontrollably busting out from the thought. So detrimental finding out he passed. I had to wonder if the emotional reaction I had was out of place considering I didn't personally know the man. Sadly missed he will remain...
I discovered him recently and i actually was little sad too. But i don't think it has something to with him being the dad joke genius, he is sympathetic and kind of relatable. Just a laydown dude, you probably would be friends with, when you would had the chance to meet him.
I love how much the two ladies who were previous guests were laughing. Especially the brunette woman. She gets Mitch. She was in stitches the whole time. Love it lol...
His style was very unique, which I'm sure he developed over time. Some of his earliest performances are much different from the later ones in as far as his delivery, vocal cadence, and overall presentation at the mic. I love how he never used contractions with his words. It was never, "I don't have...", it was "I do not have..." And while I'm aware of his shyness and stage fright, I think he also used that to effect as he evolved as a comic. Just a brilliant performer who is greatly missed.
That's a very astute observation. In copywriting, they actually recommend you write it as "I'm" instead of "I am" because it feels more "real" to the reader. Like you're speaking to them as you would in life. I feel like this applies to stand-up, too, but Hedburg gets away with it.
He went from a couple chuckles to people rolling over. Amazing to see a comedian work through a crowd that’s not initially on their side and win them over in 5 minutes. RIP the king of one liners
"Supposed to yell 'fore', but I was too busy mumbling 'there ain't no way that's gonna hit him.'" Cracked me up. Loved and still love this guy's comedy. Gone way too damn soon.
So amazing to see him start off very nervous, looking down, but his confidence grows once a few jokes hit. Then he starts to smile a lot more and is making eye contact with the crowd
I remember the 1st time I saw this guy on TV.....he was not a tree. And then he was gone forever. Now I scour RUclips for his comedy on occasion to remind myself of how great he was because I don't want to forget. I hope he is at peace and that the demons of addiction no longer pursue him.
Littlegirllost. This one of my favorite comments here because it epitomizes how I feel about Mitch. I admit I am obsessed with Mitch The guys in my band get tired of me telling his jokes. What can I say, he’s my favorite comedian!
Growing up and listening to Mitch do his stand up routine, there was no one like him at the time. Very unique and original, I truly respected that about him.
You are right. But I sincerely hope one day someone will have that kind of unique talant and still do more one liners as good as Mitch or better in remembering that style to keep it going but with confidence that Mitch did not believe he would control totally. He seemed to be like Chris Farley in never thinking he was good enough but to have gotten as far as they both did and loved for who they were for just being themselves was what made them stand out so ! ♥️💙
"I can't wait till this set is over because i have a roll of Lifesavers in my pocket, and Pineapple is next...." Only Mitch Hedberg would ever make that sentence hilarious! 😂

Naaawww... Mike was a nice host. He giggled at every little think that Mitch said. He was delighted to have him on and he gave him good “face”... promoted his movie... I miss Mitch. You just want to hug him and to fix him🥺🥺🥺🤷♀️❣️
"I was arrested for stealing Tupperware and then Canada wouldn't let me in because I guess they really like leftovers." Mitch doing Canada specific material. Love it, eh? Also love how those two women hug him and he's so shy he doesn't really know what to do. But he does manage to wipe the kiss off his cheek. "I do not know that lady, so I must not trust that she is germ-free.'
It’s for my Ma cuz Christmas was approaching. That was hilarious. The beauty of Mitch wasn’t his jokes. It was what he said between the jokes. I am glad I got to see him live before he died.
@Asherah 1147 Carlin liked to make a point of correcting people who misused words such as ironic. He had a great example of irony... A diabetic getting run over & killed by a truck delivering insulin.
Heard Mr. Norm Macdonald praise Mitch in a couple of videos. I had never heard or seen him perform. He was, and his comedy still is really unique, and his sets are easy to follow. RIP Sir.
@@Giveme1goodreason And like Steven Wright, that is something Mitch would have noticed and built a joke around. Genius in their simplicity, to elocute things we all see but take for granted.
I’m late to Mitch. Don’t know where I’d been during those years. But watching his RUclips vids illuminates to me a young man with a beautiful soul. Ever notice how often he references his Mom too? Sweet.

Ikr, I was waiting for him to say "sorry for the convenience" on the escalator joke.
His innocent self deprecating style was so unique
If you guessed a handful, you are correct.
Chillest guy ever.. nice to see bright people having relaxed and genuine fun
The brunette gal in the chair laughed so hard the whole set that she cried lol
She's a keeper.
My favorite joke by Mitch, maybe of all time:
“I don’t have a girlfriend, I just know a girl who would be really mad if she heard me say that.” 😅
R.I.P. you legend. Gone too soon.
It was his timing and that he could find humor in the most mundane things🤣🤣🤣🤣he was hilarious
No one painted a vivid and hilarious picture using one liners the way this man did. Absolute genius. Rwg Legend
The host was so jealous of that fabulous rock star hair. As am I. Lol.
Naaawww... Mike was a nice host. He giggled at every little think that Mitch said. He was delighted to have him on and he gave him good “face”... promoted his movie... I miss Mitch. You just want to hug him and to fix him🥺🥺🥺🤷♀️❣️
Man after all these years still love Mitch. The one about the potatoes and tennis ball cans which led to pringles is priceless. 😥😇👍🙏
"I was arrested for stealing Tupperware and then Canada wouldn't let me in because I guess they really like leftovers."
Mitch doing Canada specific material. Love it, eh? Also love how those two women hug him and he's so shy he doesn't really know what to do. But he does manage to wipe the kiss off his cheek.
"I do not know that lady, so I must not trust that she is germ-free.'
I did notice Bullard interrupting him every time he tried a one liner in the sit down!😡
Mitch was not wiping the kids off.He was running it in!😘🤩
Out of all of the Mitch Hedberg I have dove into, I've never seen this video. Thank you for posting it 😏
Flip that frito, dad.
absolutely love this legend of a comic. love him. his style of comedy is unique. RIP buddy
It’s for my Ma cuz Christmas was approaching.
That was hilarious. The beauty of Mitch wasn’t his jokes. It was what he said between the jokes. I am glad I got to see him live before he died.
Hella jealous. He was such a talented dude.
Straight into an interview is WILD STUFF. What a beast. RIP Legend
God damm he was so good. Much love Mitch. Much missed.
RIP Mitch and RIP Mike Bullard
I feel like most crowds aren't smart enuff to get the humor. His jokes makes me laugh even when I know they're coming
@Teh Modest Mouse *couldn't care less
Yea it takes a little intelligence to see where Mitch is coming from.
that's why there's often pauses at the end of his jokes...he's waiting for the punchline to sink in
Addicted to sitting in a semicircle.
I’m gonna spend the rest of the night trying to figure out why THAT one got me. 🤦♀️😁😂
I truly believe that the idea of what we call “dad jokes” is actually based off Mitch’s comedy style.
This guys was so brilliant. You’re not forgotten Mitch X
Mitch is the polar opposite of the angry, bitter, foul and sarcastic comedians like George Carlin.
He is missed. A rare talent.
I love both..both were geniuses.
@@withgoddess7164 Mitch is awesome, but Carlin was smart and awake not bitter. Look around were all slaves to the economy
Those are like my 2 favorite comedians
@Asherah 1147
Carlin liked to make a point
of correcting people
who misused words
such as ironic.
He had a great example of irony...
A diabetic getting
run over & killed by
a truck delivering insulin.
absolutely.and he's so much better than bitter Carlin ever was!
Heard Mr. Norm Macdonald praise Mitch in a couple of videos. I had never heard or seen him perform. He was, and his comedy still is really unique, and his sets are easy to follow. RIP Sir.
Here’s a video of Mitch when he was younger
...& not dead yet
All videos are of people when they were younger.
@@Giveme1goodreason And like Steven Wright, that is something Mitch would have noticed and built a joke around. Genius in their simplicity, to elocute things we all see but take for granted.
💙 U Mitch & pineapple life savers !! ALRIGHT !! Rest 2 !! 💫
" Rice is great if you're really hungry and want to eat two thousand of something."
R.I.P Mitch...
I’m late to Mitch. Don’t know where I’d been during those years. But watching his RUclips vids illuminates to me a young man with a beautiful soul. Ever notice how often he references his Mom too? Sweet.
