To be fair, this is nothing compared to what happened to Dizzy Gillespie's head when he blew his trumpet. This sketch is presumably based on that but is not as extreme.
Very funny seeing the gammons in the comments here, thinking this is a white actor in blackface, and being offended because they imagine that you couldn't get away with doing this sketch today. The Fast Show used black actors for black characters, and Simon Day has said in interviews that he has always thought blackface was unacceptable, that he would always refuse to do it, and that it was as wrong then as it is now. So you can add Simon Day to your list of comedians you want to cancel for "ruining comedy with PC wokeness" too.
You're about 10 years behind the times. Even with a black actor, this sketch would not be broadcast today- certainly not on the BBC. For a 'white led' comedy show to in any way satirise black culture would be unacceptable.
@@horrortackleharry lol ok pal. you really want to be offended by imagining that the fast show would be cancelled if they tried to make it today, I can't take that away from you. you clearly need that in your life.
@@ArmyOfGayUnicorns I'm not offended, and neither am I imagining anything. My brother's partner has worked for many years for the BBC and I get to hear at length what goes on there.
BTW, there is a later sketch in the series (search 'Archery Jazz Club') where Day, Williams and Whitehouse are all browned-up as Cuban musicians. That perhaps doesn't completely invalidate your point, but perhaps casts a different er, 'shade' on it.
I believe that there is your actual bona fide black man, Felix Dexter. The special effects makeup for the cheeks makes him look like he's wearing blackface
It's funny, but he's actually really good!
Grrrreat! Piles! 😂
Niiiiiice, classic clip, brilliant!
Brilliant!!!
I love a good modulation.
That is so fucking funny. I'm crying.
So am I!
that side to side head bob at the end - hahahahahah
@@CFox.7 you made me watch it again. Thank you 🙏
Dizzy Gillespie's cheeks actually get bigger than this.
Piles with his band the jazz mess!
Brilliant
Is that goddamn Jason Statham on drums??
...Nice

I wonder did dizzy gillespie ever get to see that?
Louis Armstrong could use this circular breathing technique.
he once tried triangular breathing but it end up resolving itself in tectonical and magical breathing
Nice nace noce.
Niiiice
Yes.
Rickie foultom piano
Plies Husain is so underrated!
LOL at 1:31. One of the funniest Jazz Club sketches.
Nice!
I never did find out what Jim thought of this show. Still, doesn't matter now..

Brilliant. Would be even better without the laughter track.
The ADL considers 1:19 a hate crime now
Black face. How the hell did they get away with this? Dude tried his best to keep his composure. Lol

This actor was in several skits with fast show; certainly wasn’t white 😂 loved his scenes, “TUNE?.. This is Jazz!!”
@@ArmyOfGayUnicorns He's the black police dude from the Nolan Batman movies; Colin McFarlane.
@@PaulGBass You're quite right, it is indeed.
Brilliant, when we were allowed to laugh at anything. 😭😅😂🤣
Yes, because you are so oppressed now, you poor dear
@@ProjectFlashlight612 😭😅🤣😂
@@ProjectFlashlight612 I would only answer when you understand a comment.
It's not like this sketch is edgy or politically incorrect. It's just a piss take of Jazz music and a fun reference to Dizzy Gillespie.
Always something to cry about for you fucks.
That is so funny. I wish you could still get away with this
Get away with what?
I’m confused too? Get away with what, exactly??!! 🤷🏻♂️Genuinely can’t think what would be wrong with this🤔 🤯
I think it might be the makeup.
Yeah man they're all about hamster rights nowadays can't be having big cheeks jokes
You're so so oppressed. I feel terrible for you. I can't believe that jazz jokes got outlawed last year, it's awful.
